The research work was pre-experimental with a mixed approach and it was carried out as a qualitative-quantitative study. The experiment was applied to 16 learners. There were a pre-test and a post-test which was scored by an adapted rubric from the Cambridge Assessing Speaking Performance – Level A2. It was a two-part test mainly focused on evaluating the oral interaction of learners by answering questions and describing pictures. Videogames were the main tool during the treatment because of one of its characteristics, the real time interaction; in which learners were encouraged to participate actively to reach a common goal to win a match. Learners were given a set of game-related vocabulary and phrases in order to practice it in the next step of the treatment to reach that goal. Thus, learners were exposed to videogames with the interactive game mechanic in which they had to work collaboratively and use the given vocabulary and phrases to communicate with each other during four weeks Because of that encouragement they had not only to reach a game goal, but also and educational objective, developing a language skill and the ability to interact fluently. At the end of the research work it can be concluded that videogames influence in students’ learning, especially in the oral interaction. It is recommended for the educational field to research deeper about videogames, therefore it would be an excellent tool to keep learners engaged with the correct aim, and a well-designed curriculum.Item M-learning in reading comprehension(Carrera de Pedagogía de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros, 2021-11-01) Cocha Toaza, Edisson Patricio; Infante Paredes, Ruth ElizabethThis research aimed to determine the effects of M-learning in reading comprehension of students from of “Pedagogia de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros” at “Universidad Técnica de Ambato” The methodology was a mixed approach. On the one hand, it is qualitative because a survey was applied in order to determine the most Web 3.0 application between students of fourth-semester focus on the educational environment. On the other hand, it is quantitative because a standardized pre-test and post-test were taken from Cambridge Assessment were used to measure the level of learners in reading comprehension in three levels: Literal, Inferential and Evaluative. Finally, learners demonstrated an increase in their cognitive abilities at the moment of answering literal, inferential, and evaluative questions and various points of view of the author. Consequently, it can be concluded that the use of mobile applications influenced the development of their reading comprehension when analyzing and understanding complex texts from the ease of their mobile deviceItem The podcasts and the English Language Listening skill development(2021-04-01) Albán Benavides, Belquis Silvana; Encalada Trujillo, Edgar GuadiaListening is an active process of understanding by activating various kinds of knowledge. As it is part of the language skills in communication, it needs to be developed by the application of some effective strategies like podcast. In contrasting with this some students might feel that developing listening skills is difficult to reach due to the traditional teaching method where the student is a passive learner and the teacher is the central part in the teaching-learning process. The statement all the over expressed got to be a solid reason to create this investigate work so that made extremely necessary to come up with a solution to this problem. In this sense, the author stated that the students from Ninth Year of EGB can develop their English listening skills by incorporating podcasts combined with the update techniques and strategies focused on communicative approach. Therefore, the objective of the following researching work is to demonstrate the influence of the podcasts to develop listening skill in 43 students of the ninth year of superior basic education aged between 13-14 years at UE “Ramon Barba Naranjo High School” background. A quasi-experimental field research study was applied, the application of the pre-test and post-test was carried out in two groups: the first control group and the second the experimental group. The implementation stage was planned in four weeks where teacher had to plan and design material for a 40 minutes virtual class. After the application of the strategies, students were evaluated according to a specific content tests as a post-test. To verify the hypothesis of this research, the calculation of T student test was used. The results indicated that podcasts developed listening skills in students from Ninth School Year, thus the teaching strategies for listening must be planned and designed by teachers to promote a significant learning process.Item Soundcloud app and pronunciation(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la Educación-Carrera de Idiomas, 2021-03-01) Paucar Lizano, Cristina de los Ángeles; Chimbo Cáceres, Elsa MayorieThis research aims to investigate the impact of SoundCloud application in the students’ pronunciation of fourth level from PINE program (Pedagogía de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros) at Universidad Técnica de Ambato.
