Item ACTIVIDAD ES RECREATIVAS DE MESA PARA MEJORAR LA MOTRICIDAD FINA Y GRUESA EN PACIENTES GERIÁTRICOS(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-28) Venegas Cedeño, Marco Vinicio; Caiza Lema, Stalin JavierFine motor skills deteriorate due to different factors such as poor motor-o cu l o coordination, degeneration of the central nervous system. The objective of this research project was to evaluate the impact of a physiotherapeu t i c intervention using board games to improve fine and gross motor skills in geriatr i c adults. The assessments were applied to the 17 geriatric adults with a duration of 10 minutes in each person. The Purdue Pegboard test was used to carry out the assessment to determine the fine and gross motor skills of the upper limb, the Mini-Mental test was used to exclude people with dementia, the 6-minute walk test helped to evaluate the physical condition of the geriatric people, and the Lawton and Brody test was used to identify the level of activities of daily living performed by the older adults and, thus, to know how all these factors affect motor skills. The exercises were performed twice a week for 6 weeks. There was a predominance of the female sex with 58.80% over the male sex. The results indicated that there were significant improvements under the application of the intervention, data that was corroborated by the Sperman test p=0.95.Once the intervention was completed, it became evident that play therapy as a physiotherapeutic treatment helps to improve fine and gross motor skills in geriatr i c adults.Item ACTIVIDADES RECREATIVAS PARA MEJORAR LAS HABILIDADES MOTORAS DE MIEMBRO SUPERIOR EN NIÑOS CON SÍNDROME DE DOWN(2025-02-27) Yauli Achachi, Gissela Ivonne; Latta Sánchez María Augusta; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de FisioterapiaDown syndrome (DS), or trisomy 21, is usually a chromosomal disorder caused at the genetic level. Epidemiological studies reveal that approximately 1 in every 700 to 800 births in the world presents this alteration. Given that this condition affects several motor areas, the present research project was carried out with the objective of determining whether recreational activities contribute to the improvement of upper limb motor skills in children aged 2 to 5 years with Down syndrome. This research was framed in a quasi-experimental design, with a longitudinal and quantitative approach. This project included the participation of 25 children with Down syndrome from Latidos Down Ambato Fundación. The psychomotor development test (TEPSI) was used to evaluate the child's motor performance in categories of normality, risk and delay, with a total of 12 sessions of 30 to 40 minutes 3 times a week. Among the results obtained, it was found that, of the total intervention population, the children initially presented a 64% deficit in motor skills, while after the intervention this increased to 84%, which indicates that the treatment applied has favorable effects on the development of motor skills. Thus, concluding that the application of play activities has proven to be effective for the improvement of motor skills in children with Down syndrome and to contribute to the strengthening of their autonomy and active participation.Item ACTUALIZACIÓN DE LA EVALUACIÓN DEL DOLOR CRÓNICO DE ORIGEN MUSCULOESQUELÉTICO(2025-02-27) Pilatasig Zambrano, Dayeli Mercedes; Moscoso Córdova, Grace Verónica; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de FisioterapiaChronic pain is considered as pain that persists for more than 3 months, affecting the daily activities of around 14% of the population; approximately 9.3% face difficulties in leading an independent life, which generates various limitations caused by pain. That is why this research aims to establish the current methods for evaluating chronic musculoskeletal pain. A systematic literary review was carried out from a search in different Pubmed and Google Scholar databases, taking articles from the last 10 years, MeSH terms were added and the search was guided by the PRISMA method. A total of 10 articles were selected, including 8 randomized clinical trials, 1 clinical measurement study, 1 cross-sectional observational study. This study included 10 questionnaires distributed as follows: 1 recently developed study, 7 studies validated existing tests in language or population, and 2 validated abbreviations or extensions of the originals. Currently, no specific questionnaires have been created for chronic pain; only 1 original validated questionnaire and 9 others featuring modifications in terms of language, population, or items.Item ALTERACIÓN DE LA ARTICULACIÓN TEMPOROMANDIBULAR Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA PRÁCTICA DE LOS INSTRUMENTOS DE VIENTO(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-28) Apupalo Jácome, Lenin Fabián; Peñafiel Luna, Andrea CarolinaThe present research project was carried out with the purpose of analyzing the relationship between temporomandibular joint disorders and the practice of wind instruments, the methodology of the study was a non-experimental design, cross - sectional and correlational type of quali-quantitative approach, two evaluations were used, Helkimo's clinical dysfunction index that through the interpretation of frequen t signs and symptoms in temporomandibular disorders allows knowing the level of dysfunction, and Rocabado's pain map that recognizes the painful sensitivity in eight specific zones found in the joint, these evaluations were applied to 40 musicians who are part of the Municipal Band of Ambato and the Symphonic Band of the Honorab l e Provincial Government of Tungurahua. Among the results obtained we found a slight limitation in the opening and sliding of laterotrusion and a severe limitation in mandibular protrusion, also the presence of articular noises and pain in the media l pterygoid and masseter muscles in their deep and superficial bundle, the areas with greater presence of painful sensitivity based on Rocabado's pain map were zones 3, 5 and 6 corresponding to the lateral collateral ligament, posteroinferior synovial and posterosuperior synovial respectively. It is concluded that most of the musicians presented a Helkimo index of moderate level and that the hours of study or practice of the instrument per day is the only factor that has a moderate positive signific a n t relation with the tendency to present a greater index of alteration.Item Alteraciones a largo plazo en la vía aérea superior producto de una traqueostomía tardía a causa del Covid- 19: un enfoque desde la fisioterapia(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2023-10-03) Andocilla Miranda, Andrés Sebastián; Caiza Lema, Stalin JavierDuring the pandemic caused by COVID-19, what is the highest rate of episodes of respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation in critical areas, with prolonged periods of hospitalization, was recorded so far. Minimize contagion as far as possible, rejecting strategies that shorten the days on mechanical vent ilation. Tracheostomy is appreciated for reducing the time of mechanical ventilation, favoring weaning, lowering the mortality rate and avoiding injuries to the upper airway. However, few care centers were able to generate strategies that promote early dec oupling between the patient and the ventilator. This fact could explain the appearance of pathological signs such as chordal dysplasia, stenosis, granulomas, and dysphagia that alter the phonation, swallowing, and respiratory processes. Aspects such as a brief and timely diagnosis, generation of physiotherapeutic strategies that have been validated, with favorable repercussions and together with a multidisciplinary team specialized in dealing with this problem could address this population and prevent these sequelae from becoming a red flag for the health system. We present a brief description of what is documented to date on the repercussions of the airway in post-COVID-19 patients.Item ALTERACIONES DE LA MARCHA EN PACIENTES CON RECONSTRUCCIÓN DEL LIGAMENTO CRUZADO ANTERIOR POR AUTOINJERTO: REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-18) Villacis Olivo, Luis Fernando; Cantuña Vallejo, Paúl FernandoACL rupture is one of the most common injuries in the current context and autograft reconstruction is the most commonly used rehabilitation method together with physiotherapy for physical rehabilitation; however, certain biomechanical alterations have been detected in the gait pattern of these patients due to the effects that the injury produces on the surrounding structures and this has resulted in the development of degenerative pathologies secondary to ligament reconstruction. Objective: To analyze the alterations in gait biomechanics in patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction through different autograft techniques. Methodology: A systematic review based on the guidelines of the PRISMA method was carried out in the databases Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus and Springerlink, including a total of 11 articles. Results and discussion: Several gait alterations were detected in the patients analyzed in parameters such as angles of movement, joint range, tibial translation, moments of force and vertical ground reaction; with the knee flexion angle being the most evaluated. However, studies show discrepancies in several of the results found and, in addition, there is little or no information about hip and ankle biomechanics; so it is difficult to make a conclusion about a specific gait pattern for these patients.Item ALTERACIONES MUSCULO ESQUELÉTICAS RELACIONADAS A LA PRÁCTICA PREPROFESIONAL DE ESTUDIANTES EN FISIOTERAPIA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Viera Vivas, Isaac Josue; Campos Moposita, Angela PriscilaThe present research project deals with musculoskeletal alterations acquired by preprofessional practices in physical therapy students. Musculoskeletal disorders are conditions that occur in the tissues of different parts of the body due to physical and biomechanical factors caused by work demands. Physical therapy students are exposed to prolonged postures, repetitive movements and constant weight lifting at the time of their internships, negatively influencing their academic experience and thus causing signs and symptoms of an injury condition. A total population of 63 students studying between the sixth and seventh semest er academic cycles was obtained. The research uses a descriptive and transvers a l methodology since the students were evaluated only once in the academic cycle, besides having a quantitative approach since a standardized and structure d questionnaire such as the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire was used, in addition to the Numerical Pain Scale, which evaluated the perception of musculoskel et a l symptoms and pain intensity. The result was a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in students, and the most common regions were the lower back, neck and upper back. However, it is not clear that it is related to the pre-professional practice, since, in the relations hi p between the semester and pain, both in the last 12 months and last 7 days, and the numerical scale did not show differences between them. In addition, in this project it is not determined which are the risk factors that students are exposed to considering that there are psychosocial, labor and academic factors that influenc e d the answers. In conclusion, it can be said that the students do suffer from musculoskel et a l alterations due to the high percentages that were demonstrated, but it cannot be affirmed that they are a consequence of the pre-professional practices, but rather, that other influential factors should be taken into account.Item ALTERACIONES MUSCULOESQUELÉTICAS DE LA COLUMNA LUMBAR EN TRABAJADORES QUE REALIZAN ACTIVIDADES DE CARGA FÍSICAS(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-18) Jaque Chango, Paola Cristina; Llerena Cepeda, María de LourdesMusculoskeletal alterations or disorders (MSD) are injuries of the locomotor system; 1.71 billion people worldwide have MSDs in the lumbar spine, considered a health problem and the main cause of work absenteeism. Material and Methods: it is a qualitative research of bibliographic review of articles found in databases: Scielo, Pubmed, Elsevier and Dialnet. Results: Lumbago is the TME that occurs in the lumbar spine in 82% when performing physical load activities. Conclusion: The lumbar spine has a greater incidence within MSDs suffered from carrying out physically demanding activities, making it necessary to promote appropriate ergonomic practices to reduce the presentation of these disorders.Item ALTERACIONES SENSORIALES EN EL ADULTO MAYOR Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA CALIDAD DE VIDA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Udeo Torres, Jessica Paola; Cedeño Zamora, María NarcizaAging is linked to sensory changes in older adults, which affects their quality of life and can lead to disabilities. Currently, around 50 million people suffer from sensory impairments, a figure that is expected to increase to 82 million by 2030. These impairments include problems in the five senses (vision, hearing, taste, smell and touch), which are essential for perception and interaction with the environment. To improve the quality of life of older adults and their caregivers, it is crucial to implem e n t comprehensive health policies that address these sensory problems. This also involve s empowering people to reduce risk factors such as diabetes and cardiovascu l a r disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) offers programs to assess and reduce sensory and cognitive impairment in the elderly. Alcohol and tobacco use can aggravate sensory and memory problems, negatively affecting quality of life. Family caregivers play a critical role in the well-being of older adults with sensory impairment. It is vital to understand how these impairments impact their daily lives and to assess their sensory, mental and motor abilities to prevent falls and improve their quality of life.A recent study revealed that sensory impairments, especially in vision and hearing, have a major impact on the quality of life of older adults. Decreas e d vision can predict cognitive changes, and sensory impairments are associated with an increased risk of dementia. These impairments also affect independence, well-being and social interactions. Dysfunction of the sense of smell is related to cognitive and sensory impairment, affecting memory and verbal fluency, and may be an early indicator of dementia, also influencing nutrition and daily activities. Factors such as low schooli ng , declining physical performance and lack of social support increase cognitive and sensory vulnerability, making the support of health professionals, family and friends crucial to manage these dysfunctions. MSc.The objective of this research project is to analyze the biomechanics of the movements in the activities carried out by the workers of the cutting and sewing supplier company of Plasticaucho industrial Ambato. The research carried out is of a prospective transverse quantitative type, carried out with a census sample of 15 factory workers from different areas. For data collection, sociodemographic data, questions about work activities, evaluation of isometric muscle strength with dynamometer and assessment of ergonomic risk level with the REBA method were used. An ergonomic risk level was obtained 11 workers had an average risk level, 2 in high and 1 in very high, so none were excluded from injury. The strength of the flexor muscles of the fingers and external rotators were related to ergonomic risk, that is to say the more strength they presented in these muscles the greater the risk of developing musculoskeletal alterations. The limitation of the study was that not all upper limb muscles were evaluated, recommending that future research if they do, likewise the company was recommended to include a program active break to improve productivity.Item Análisis de la biomecánica del ordeño mecánico en ganaderos(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2022-09-01) Yanchatipan Toapanta, Stalin Alejandro; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía, Lic. MSc.The present research work aims to analyze the biomechanics of farmers who use mechanical milking through ergonomic evaluations in order to relate it to the risk of suffering musculoskeletal injuries. The research has a quantitative approach where the kinematics and muscle strength involved in the work activity of 15 cattlemen were evaluated. The kinematics were evaluated through recordings of the Pre-Milking and Post-Milking sub-activities, choosing the most uncomfortable and repetitive postures, which were scored according to the classification of the REBA method, for their degrees of mobility, loads, repetitive movements and static postures, thus identifying a low or very high risk presented by the farmers in the activity of mechanical milking. The evaluation of muscle strength was evaluated with greater emphasis on the musculature that represents a greater activity in the mechanical milking work, such as: external and internal rotators of the shoulder, anterior deltoid, elbow flexor, finger flexor and finally the deep craniocervical muscles and those that maintain the neutral lumbopelvic position. Obtaining an average ergonomic risk rating of 8-10 that represents a high risk in their activities and in the muscle strength does not present a synergy between the agonist and antagonist muscles that could damage their health that can produce musculoskeletal symptoms in the long term, limiting them to develop their activities normally in livestock farmers.Item ANÁLISIS DE LA VELOCIDAD DE LA MARCHA EN PACIENTES CON EPOC(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Santafé Caiza, Alison Nicole; Latta Sanchez, María AugustaThe article reviews the importance of gait speed analysis in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a chronic respiratory disease that causes airflow obstruction and has significant impacts on quality of life and mortality. Walking abilit y is closely related to overall physical function and health, and in COPD patients, dyspnea and fatigue can affect their ability to walk, thus influencing their quality of life. The clinical relevance of this analysis is emphasized as it provides information on physica l function, exercise, and disease prognosis. Additionally, the results of a comprehens i v e literature review examining how gait speed correlates with disease severity, exercis e capacity, and quality of life in COPD patients are discussed. The findings suggest that higher real-world gait speed may be associated with a lower risk of severe exacerbatio ns , highlighting its potential as a prognostic marker and its relevance in the development of therapeutic interventions and public health strategies aimed at improving physica l function and quality of life in COPD patients.Item Análisis del gesto deportivo como predictor de lesiones en jugadores de futbol sala(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-03-18) Valverde Villagomez, Jahaira Valeria; Cantuña Vallejo, Paul FernandoThe aim of this research was to analyze the sport gesture as a predictor of injury in futsal players in a population of 20 participants where 13 were female and 7 were male. Before starting with the evaluation, informative data was taken, followed by the taking of videos to be analyzed later using the kinovea software program, in this was analyzed from a lateral view observing 3 joints and their movement at the time of the ball kick: hip, knee and ankle; they were also analyzed in 3 phases such as: initial phase, delayed impulsion phase and forward impulsion phase. This study is observational because it has the objective of analyzing the movement in the gesture and registering if there are alterations, descriptive because the data are taken on the playing field and quantitative because thanks to the data collection and its analysis. The results of the evaluation performed in this study in the evaluation of hip ROM in the delayed swing phase show a mean extension of 12.7° and in the forward swing phase it shows a mean flexion of 127.0°. As for the Knee ROM evaluation in the initial phase shows a mean flexion 150.4°, in the delayed swing phase it shows a mean flexion 92.8° and in the forward swing phase it shows a mean flexion 172.4°. In the evaluation of ankle ROM in the initial phase showed a mean plantarflexion of 18.2°, in the delayed swing phase showed a mean plantarflexion of 23.19° and in the forward swing phase showed a mean plantarflexion of 18.3°. In addition, when comparing between participants with and without a history of injury, there was no significant difference. Finally, no significant data were found to demonstrate that the ROM of the different joints during the ball kick is an indication of alterations that could trigger future injuries.Item APLICACIÓN DE LA PRUEBA DE PROVOCACIÓN BRONQUIAL CON EJERCICIO EN NIÑOS Y ADOLESCENTES(2025-02-27) Ramos Meneses, Jonathan Jeziel; Caiza Lema, Stalin Javier; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de FisioterapiaAsthma is one of the most prevalent chronic respiratory diseases in childhood and adolescence. It is characterized by inflammation and bronchial hyperreactivity, which trigger bronchoconstriction and airway obstructions. This condition represents a significant public health issue due to its impact on emergency services, hospitalizations, and school absenteeism. In Ecuador, previous studies have revealed a prevalence of asthma symptoms in adolescents but a low rate of diagnosis, suggesting possible underdiagnosis and insufficient control of the condition. Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) is a common manifestation in patients with uncontrolled asthma and can be assessed through provocation tests, such as the Exercise-Induced Bronchial Provocation Test (EIBPT). This study aims to evaluate the bronchial response to the EIBPT in Ecuadorian children and adolescents to contribute to a better understanding of asthma in this population. This non-experimental, descriptive, observational study was conducted on 25 students aged 8 to 17 years without a prior asthma diagnosis. Participants underwent the EIBPT on a treadmill. The criterion for a positive result was set at a decrease in VEF1 %, observed in only 4% of the 25 participants. The low prevalence of EIB in this sample suggests that, in Ecuadorian children and adolescents without a prior asthma diagnosis, exercise does not induce significant bronchoconstriction, ruling out the existence of an asthma underdiagnosis.
