Cl. Mst.Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud / Centro de PosgradosThe objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an intervention plan based on the Structural Family Therapy model, designed to improve family functioning among adults affiliated with the professional drivers’ union in the canton of Pelileo, Tungurahua province. This research employed a quantitative approach, a descriptive scope, and a longitudinal quasi-experimental design, with a sample of 100 adults selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The FF-SIL instrument was used to assess family functioning before and after the intervention, which was implemented over six phases, each consisting of two 45- to 60-minute sessions, for a total of twelve structured therapy sessions aimed at strengthening family dynamics and organization. The results showed an increase in overall levels of family functioning following the implementation of the intervention plan, reflecting significant improvements in interaction and cohesion within the family system. The analysis using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test revealed statistically significant differences between pre- and post-intervention measurements, confirming the effectiveness of the implemented program. In conclusion, an intervention plan based on Structural Family Therapy proved to be effective in enhancing the family functioning of participating adults and promoting more stable, interactive, and adaptive relationships within the family context. Cl. MstUniversidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud / Centro de PosgradoMindfulness meditation has emerged as an effective intervention for reducing anxiety in educational settings, particularly among vulnerable populations such as adult learners with incomplete formal education. Anxiety, as a physiological and emotional response to real or perceived threats, can severely impact psychological well-being and academic performance when it becomes chronic. This study examined the impact of a structured mindfulness program on anxiety levels among adult students at the Unidad Educativa PCEI Miguel de Cervantes. A quasi-experimental, longitudinal, and quantitative design was employed, with a sample of 90 participants aged 17 to 65 years (M = 32.5; SD = 11.1), male (62.2%). Anxiety was assessed using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), administered before and after the intervention. At baseline, 72.2% of participants exhibited mild, moderate, or severe anxiety, with 23.3% reporting severe symptoms. Following the intervention, the proportion of participants with minimal anxiety increased to 56.7%, while those with severe anxiety dropped to 2.2%. A mean reduction of 9 points in anxiety scores was observed, which was statistically significant (p < .001), with a large effect size (r = 0.698). These findings indicate that mindfulness is highly effective in reducing anxiety in this population. The results have both clinical and practical implications, fostering an emotionally supportive environment conducive to learning. Mindfulness-based interventions represent an accessible and effective tool for integration into educational programs targeting adults with interrupted schooling, thereby strengthening mental health, and supporting academic achievementItem type:Ítem, Efectividad de un programa de estimulación de las funciones cognitivas de adultos mayores del cantón Santiago de Píllaro(2025-09-24) ;Cushqui Yanchaguano, Joselyn Lizbeth ;Vásquez de la Bandera Cabezas, Fabricio AlejandroUniversidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de PosgradosAging is a period characterized by a progressive decline in physical, cognitive, and social functions. This process is influenced by multiple factors, especially in rural contexts where access to resources and services is limited, which notably affects cognitive performance. Cognitive stimulation has proven to be an effective strategy to address the cognitive challenges of aging. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a cognitive stimulation program focused on memory, language, and executive functions to improve cognitive performance in older adults from the Santiago de Píllaro canton. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental, with descriptive and longitudinal scope. The sample consisted of 73 older adults from rural areas, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) was administered before and after the intervention. The program included 10 weekly group sessions of 60 minutes each, with progressively challenging exercises adapted to the participants' cultural and sociodemographic context. Results demonstrated a significant improvement in cognitive performance, with the global MMSE score increasing from an average of 23.1 to 27.5 points. These differences were statistically significant (p<0.05), with a large effect size measured by Cohen’s d (-2.02). In conclusion, the cognitive stimulation program improved cognitive functions in older adults from rural Santiago de Píllaro.Item type:Ítem, Estrategias de afrontamiento para el estrés académico en los estudiantes de primer semestre de la Carrera de Educación Inicial de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de Posgrados, 2024-06-27) ;Espín Acosta, Melanie MichelleRobayo Carrillo, Jessy MarianaItem type:Ítem, Musicoterapia y atención sostenida en niños(Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de Posgrados, 2024-06-14) ;Chacón Molina, Adriana BelénVásquez de la Bandera Cabezas, Fabricio AlejandroItem type:Ítem, Técnicas de relajación para el manejo de la ansiedad en estudiantes universitarios(Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de Posgrados, 2024-06-13) ;Rhea Freire, Paula CamilaRobayo Carrillo, Jessy MarianaThe general objective of the present research was to know the effectiveness of the application of relaxation techniques on anxious symptoms in university students. Because this population does not receive support for the management of this type of condition. Regarding the methodology used, a quantitative, quasi-experimental longitudinal cohort approach was maintained. With a population of 300 students from the Pedagogy of Physical Activity and Sports major, with non-probabilistic convenience sampling, a sample of 33 students was obtained. The information was collected using the Hamilton anxiety scale to evaluate anxious symptoms, which was used before and after the training. The training taught three types of relaxation techniques. Which were Jacobson's progressive relaxation, Schultz's autogenic training and Labrador's breathing control training. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26, in which the results obtained indicated that the group presented severe anxiety. Through the paired student's T analysis, it was known that relaxation techniques are effective in anxiety symptomatology in university students.Item type:Ítem, Musicoterapia y ansiedad en docentes(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Centro de posgrados, 2024-04-01) ;Real Ocaña, Jenny Margoth Psic.Vásquez de la Bandera Cabezas, Fabricio MSc.Item type:Ítem, Arteterapia como estrategia para mejorar la calidad de vida en Adultos mayores(Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de Posgrados, 2023-12-13) ;Illescas Tapia, Tatiana De LourdesGaibor González, Ismael ÁlvaroThe main objective of this research work was to improve the quality of life of older adults of the Social Foundation (FEDIS) of the Salinas canton, province of Santa Elena, Ecuador through the application of art therapy techniques: painting, collage, theater, drawing, dance, modeling and mandalas.
