Esp., Verónica PaulinaFollowing the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, healthcare systems were impacted by the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, which had an impact on care models. Because of these interruptions in care, the implementation of a cardiac telerehabilitation program was sought through video calls. For this reason, the aim of the present study was to determine adherence to exercise through cardiac telerehabilitation in patients with heart failure. This vision seeks for older adults to benefit, through exercise, by reducing or controlling cardiovascular risk factors, thus improving their quality of life and survival. Methodologically, a quali-quantitative approach was applied, the Morisky-Green test; and the results that we measured in Phase I, of the total sample, 5 patients presented low adherence, answering 3 and 4 questions affirmatively, 45.5% of the sample; 4 patients presented moderate adherence, 1 or 2 positive answers, 36.4% of the sample; and 2 patients with high adherence, 4 negative answers equivalent to 18.2%. And at the end of the Phase III intervention, 11 patients answered 4 questions negatively, high adherence, which corresponds to 100% of the sample. When processing with xvii Wilcoxon signed Rank test, if the null hypothesis was rejected, defining that the treatment is adhered for the elderly; And to confirm the benefits of the program, in a cross-sectional and descriptive type, the results of the SPPB test are correlated, when processing with MannWhitney U we point out that it is false since it did not present significance in the scores obtained accepting the nullity of the hypothesis denoting that when starting the program 2 elderly adults are qualified as frail with great limitations, equivalent to 18. 2% and moderate frailty presented 9 which corresponds to 81.8%; and in Phase III adults with mild frailty 2 adults corresponding to 18.2% and without frailty 9 adults corresponding to 9%; And when describing the results of the M6M, at the beginning of the program 11 patients presented bad performance, 100% and at the end of the program 8 patients presented bad performance, 72.7%; 1 patient presented moderate performance, 9.1% and 2 patients reached meters that were considered good performance, which is equivalent to 18.2%.Item Análisis de la capacidad funcional cardiorrespiratoria en pacientes de 30 a 60 años post COVID-19 del Hospital Alfredo Noboa, 2021.(Universdidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Centro de posgrados, 2022-02-01) Inca Robalino. Mg.The present investigation was carried out on patients from the General Hospital of Latacunga (HPGL), whose main objective is to determine the immediate effects of interval aerobic exercises on the health status of patients with COPD. The COPD is a disorder characterized by having a chronic limitation in airflow with persistent symptoms such as dyspnea, cough ad spectoration. The study corresponds to a quali- quantitative approach because the data and measurements that were obtained were through numerical values and words, of a cross-sectional type, because the data are collected once and of a quasi-experimental level since it was carried out a single group. The population consisted of 30 people, who, through the inclusion and exclusion criteria, remained 8 participants who were applied the IAS (interval aerobic exercise) and the acute cardiovascular effects were analyzed by spirometry and telemetry. The investigation was completed by demonstrating that with IAS there is less flow limitation, an increase in lung capacity and an increase in the caliber of the airways that translates into less obstruction without the presence of bronchospasm during the intervention. Ft. Mg.At the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security Hospital (IESS) in Latacunga, appendix surgeries are often performed, which are complicated in moderate amounts, due to their invasive surgical procedures where they require administering sedation, analgesia and sometimes they are induced to mechanical ventilation, so in some cases there has been a decrease in the capacity of the muscles that help in breathing. Then, in the post - operative period, the patient will require oxygen, pain in the abdominal cavity and therefore they will avoid position changes. The inspiratory capacity will be reduced and causing complications in the future. Therefore, a cardiorespiratory training plan has been designed, made from research documents and scientific journals, the same one that was approved by professionals knowledgeable in the subject and socialized to the rehabilitation staff, therefore, to obtain data, surveys were carried out. of satisfaction, in which it has been concluded that it was a satisfactory job and a help plan for the knowledge of the health personnel of the IESS Latacunga Hospital and thus provide quality care to the patient.Item Entrenamiento Respiratorio y sus efectos en el índice Bodex en pacientes con Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica(2025-03-17) Carvajal Escobar, María Belén; Sandoval Velásquez, Gloria Gabriela; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de PosgradosRespiratory training has emerged as a crucial strategy in the management of chronic respiratory diseases, especially in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This therapeutic approach aims to optimize lung function and improve quality of life through specific breathing techniques and physical exercise. The effectiveness of respiratory training can be evaluated using the BODE index, a comprehensive tool that measures the severity of COPD and its impact on patient health. Given the details outlined above, respiratory training can positively influence the components of the BODE index, providing a clear understanding of its benefits and its role in the treatment of COPD. Objective: To determine the impact of respiratory training on the BODE index in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Methods: To comprehensively evaluate the status of COPD, the BODE index was used. Lung function was measured using spirometry, while PImax was used to assess the strength of the inspiratory muscles and the elastic recoil of the lung tissue. Additionally, BMI was calculated considering the height and weight of each patient. Various scales, such as the mMRC, were used to assess dyspnea, and vital signs were monitored both at the beginning and at the end of respiratory training. Results: Respiratory training can lead to an improvement in the BODE index, with reductions in dyspnea symptoms and increased functional capacity. Patients showed an improvement in quality of life, a greater ability to perform daily activities, and a decrease in COPD exacerbations. Conclusions: Respiratory training represents an effective intervention for improving the BODE index and, consequently, the quality of life in patients with COPD. The implementation of respiratory training programs should be considered as an integral part of the management of COPD, with the aim of improving lung function, reducing dyspnea, and enhancing exercise capacity, contributing to better overall health and well-being of patients. Studies show that inspiratory muscle training (IMT) could enhance respiratory function and improve exercise performance, impacting energy metabolism. Cyclists, during their activity, may experience fatigue, leading to a sympathetic vasoconstrictor response in the peripheral locomotor muscles, increasing the sensation of dyspnea and the perception of effort, which can result in lower performance. Objective: To determine the effects of an inspiratory muscle training program on physical endurance in amateur cyclists, as well as to evaluate the strength of the inspiratory muscles to develop and apply this program. Materials and Methods: This is an analytical, observational, longitudinal study with a quantitative approach, conducted at the Fipsicocenter Biomedical Center in Ambato. Following inclusion and exclusion criteria, IMT was applied using a Powerbreathe device, with an initial load of 50%. The maximum inspiratory pressure (Pimax) was assessed at the beginning and end of the training to determine the strength of the inspiratory muscles and any changes after the program. To assess physical endurance, an Astrand protocol was used to evaluate oxygen consumption (VO2max). Results: An inspiratory muscle training program offers significant advantages in endurance and performance in cyclists. By enhancing inspiratory capacity, Pimax and VO2max increase, which in turn reduces respiratory muscle fatigue and improves ventilatory efficiency and recovery. Additionally, notable improvements were observed with the use of inspiratory muscle training devices such as Powerbreathe. Conclusions: Inspiratory muscle training has a positive effect on inspiratory muscle strength, increasing Pimax, which leads to improved physical performance and endurance in cyclists. However, there is still a lack of knowledge and application of this type of training in athletes from various disciplines.Item “Programa de entrenamiento funcional de los músculos inspiratorios con dispositivos IMT en futbolistas profesionales para mejorar la capacidad pulmonar(2025-03-20) Robalino Sánchez, Darwin Raúl; Campos Moposita, Angela Priscila; Universidad Técnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Centro de PosgradosThe present study proposes a functional training program oriented to physical work applied to the inspiratory muscle group using Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) devices like a parallel method to the physical-technical training of the discipline. Respiratory capacity is a fundamental mechanism in physical activity performance, exactly in high demanding sports such as football, taking into account that optimal oxygenation and efficient ventilation are as determining factors to sustain the intensity and volume levels of exercise during the match cycles to help recovery between long efforts. The proposed program contains specific functional training sessions, which athletes will use IMT devices to work in a focused way on the strength and endurance capacities of the inspiratory muscles. The intervention will be carried out during a certain period, which pre- and post-intervention evaluations will be applied, measuring specific parameters such as lung capacity (forced respiratory volume, vital capacity) and respiratory strength. In addition, data will be collected on performance on the field and the intrinsic perception of each effort, that will allow physiological improvements to be correlated with sports performance. The expected results will show that the incorporation of functional training with IMT devices will lead to a significant increase in lung capacity and inspiratory muscle strength, generating greater respiratory efficiency during physical activity. These benefits are expected to have a positive impact on endurance, speed of recovery and ultimately the overall performance of footballers. The central hypothesis waits improving respiratory function, optimal levels of performance can be achieved that make a difference in professional sports levels. In conclusion, this research aims to provide scientific evidence supporting the integration of IMT devices into the training programs of professional soccer players. The findings are expected to not only advance physiological indicators, but also drive the development of comprehensive training strategies, providing the adoption of innovative methods in the field of sport to maximize performance and prolong the professional career of athletes.
