Item Lean service para la optimización logística del montaje y desmontaje de equipos en eventos en vivo de la empresa “La máquina del sonido”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.The objective of this research is to optimize the logistics processes involved in setting up and dismantling equipment at La Máquina del Sonido by applying Lean Service tools aimed at reducing waste and improving operational efficiency. The study was conducted due to existing problems in event logistics operations, where there are long work times, unnecessary trips, disorganization in the warehouse, difficulty locating equipment, and a lack of standardized procedures all of which directly affect service quality and adherence to established timelines. For the initial assessment, techniques such as direct observation, analytical flowcharts, time studies, and VSM analysis of the current state are used, enabling the identification of waste related to unnecessary movements, unnecessary transport, and other factors. Based on the findings, Lean Service tools tailored to the company’s needs are selected and implemented, including the 5S methodology, focused on sorting, setting in order, and cleaning work areas; visual management, aimed at facilitating the rapid identification of equipment and materials through signage and coding; and standardized work used to define procedures and operational sequences for critical process activities. The implementation of these tools made it possible to reorganize the warehouse, sort equipment, establish visual signage, code equipment and accessories, and define standardized procedures for critical activities in the processes studied. The results obtained demonstrate that Lean Service is an effective alternative for improving efficiency and logistics performance in companies dedicated to the production of live events.Item Herramientas de manufactura esbelta en el área de corte de la empresa Corporación Impactex Cía. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.The purpose of this research project is to propose the application of lean manufacturing tools in the cutting department of Corporación Impactex Cía. Ltda., a company dedicated to the manufacture and sale of underwear and sportswear. The study employs direct observation, an interview with the cutting supervisor, time and motion studies, an analytical flowchart, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM). Using ABC analysis, men’s boxer briefs were selected for the study as they are the product with the highest turnover. It was determined that the total standard time for the process is 881.65 minutes per batch of 480 dozen, with the layout stage having the greatest impact on the production flow. In addition, 30 activities were identified across the planning and layout, spreading, cutting, sorting, and packaging stages, where the main sources of waste were determined: unnecessary movements (68 percent), waiting (21 percent), defects (5 percent), and unnecessary activity (5 percent). Based on these results, improvement proposals are put forward using Kanban methodologies to reduce waiting time, 5S to minimize unnecessary movements, Kamishibai to control defects, and Kaizen to eliminate unnecessary weighing. The proposed VSM sets the total batch time at 862.44 min, equivalent to a 2.18 percent reduction, which contributes to a more organized, continuous, and productive process in the cutting area.Item Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.The objective of this study is to propose Lean Manufacturing tools to optimize the fresh cheese production process at the microenterprise “Productos Lácteos Marlen.” The study was prompted by the existence of operational waste that affects the performance of the production system, particularly unnecessary movements, unproductive transport, activities with no added value, and imbalances in the distribution of work; which limit the microenterprise’s efficiency and productivity. The process diagnosis was carried out using tools such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), the analytical diagram, time and motion studies, and production capacity analysis, which allowed for the identification of the main problems within the production chain. On this basis, improvement opportunities were identified aimed at optimizing the workflow, reducing downtime, and improving the use of operational resources. Based on the results obtained, Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S, standardized work, and visual control were selected, enabling the formulation of proposals focused on the organization of workspaces, the elimination of unnecessary activities, the standardization of procedures, and the strengthening of control. The proposed approach optimized the organization and continuity of the production process, reducing unnecessary activities and improving the utilization of operational resources. Furthermore, the results show that the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools enhances efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement in the production of fresh cheese.Item Metodología Six Sigma para la reducción de desperdicios y residuos en el proceso de envasado en la empresa Pura Crema(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.Waste in packaging processes within the food industry generates inefficiencies and economic losses, mainly due to filling variations, packaging failures, equipment instability, and operational errors. These factors increase waste and affect product quality; therefore, this study aimed to reduce the waste generated in the yogurt packaging process at the company Pura Crema, located in the San Pedro de Pelileo canton, Tungurahua province. A quantitative methodology was applied through the implementation of the DMAIC cycle within a Six Sigma project, supported by tools such as ABC analysis, statistical control charts, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), cause-and-effect diagrams, and the 5W and 2H technique. This approach made it possible to prioritize defects and accurately assess the capability of the yogurt packaging process. The results revealed that the critical CTQs are the filling level and bottle deformation in the packaging process. Although the process is stable, its inability to ensure uniform filling and properly formed containers increases the number of defects. The root cause analysis showed that these deviations stem from a lack of process standardization, personnel distraction, and instability in temperature control during the blowing stage, thereby limiting the process capability to remain within the established quality parameters. Finally, it is concluded that the process presents a Sigma Level of 0.67 for the overflow defect, equivalent to 250,000 PPM, which implies significant economic losses. Therefore, the main opportunity for improvement lies in the implementation of standardized protocols and operational controls that allow progress toward a competitive Sigma level and mitigate process variability.Item Propuesta de mejora en el proceso de extrusión mediante el uso de herramientas Lean Manufacturing en la empresa Avipaz Cía. Carrera de Ingeniería IndustrialThis project presents an improvement in the extrusion process of Avipaz Cía. Ltda., a company dedicated to the production of extruded food. Deficiencies in productivity and quality were identified, especially in the product Dogy Adult 30kg, derived from waste such as waiting, incorrect processing and defects. Through time analysis, flowcharts and value chain mapping (VSM), it was determined that the current cycle time is 211.29 minutes, with the bagging area being the main bottleneck. Based on the weighted factor method, specific Lean Manufacturing tools were selected: SMED to reduce setup times, 5S to improve work order and standardization, Jidoka to stop the process in case of defects, and TPM for efficient equipment maintenance. The theoretical implementation of these tools reduced the cycle time to 166.93 minutes, reducing the total process time by 21% and improving responsiveness to demand. Concrete proposals were developed, such as cleaning manuals, signage, preventive maintenance and compliance records, consolidating a culture of continuous improvement. The new VSM showed an alignment of the process to the takt time, guaranteeing efficiency in the company's production. In conclusion, the proposed application of Lean tools made it possible to optimize the extrusion process performance, increase production and improve the quality of the product.Item Metodología Lean Manufacturing en los procesos productivos de la empresa Discoint(2025-07) Paucar Alomoto Edison Javier; Escobar Naranjo Juan Camilo; Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería IndustrialThis research project focused on analyzing and reducing Lean waste in the production processes of DISCOINT, a food machinery manufacturing company. Relevant inefficiencies were identified in critical areas such as Design and Development, Production and Assembly, which affected the timely delivery of products and increased operating costs. To address this problem, the 1-liter oil sleeving machine was selected as the reference product, identified through an ABC analysis of sales for the year 2024 as the one with the highest demand. A detailed survey of the processes was carried out, applying the back-to-zero timing method to measure times and build the Current Value Flow Map, in order to visualize the activities that do not add value. The results showed that the most frequent wastes correspond to waiting times with 46% of occurrence, rework with 31% and unnecessary movements with 8%, totaling 14 hours and 41 unproductive minutes. The main causes of these inefficiencies were identified through Ishikawa diagrams, showing delays in the delivery of materials, multiple revisions of drawings and disorder in the work environment. Through a technical literature review using the PRISMA methodology, Lean Manufacturing tools adapted to the company's context were selected: KANBAN to reduce waiting times through visual control of inputs, process standardization to reduce rework by establishing clear and documented methods, and 5S to eliminate unnecessary movements by organizing and cleaning the work area. To facilitate their application, specific manuals were prepared for each tool, aligned with DISCOINT's operational needs, with the aim of optimizing processes, improving coordination between areas and fostering a culture of continuous improvement oriented towards efficiency and quality.Item Estudio Lean six sigma en los procesos de corte y confección de la empresa D'Christian – Maryuri(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025) Lascano Guzmán Isaac Josué; Padilla Medina Angel Rodrigo; Morales Perrazo Luis AlbertoThis study aims to develop a Lean Six Sigma approach in the cutting and sewing processes of D'CHRISTIAN – MARYURI, focusing on the production of women’s underwear, SKU 425. The DMAIC methodology is applied alongside statistical tools such as X-R and U control charts, time studies, Takt Time, Value Stream Mapping, and Six Sigma metrics. Data collection spans four months, employing contour measurement, defect counting, and the assessment of waste and transportation. Results highlight significant process capability issues, with Cp values of 0.53 for size 40 and 0.52 for size 44, indicating the system’s inability to consistently meet quality specifications. Variability stems from a lack of standardized procedures, operational fluctuations, and machinery inconsistencies. The analysis identifies improvement opportunities in waste reduction and workflow optimization. This study establishes a robust baseline for corrective actions aimed at enhancing productivity, reducing defects, and ensuring conformity to quality specifications. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-02) Perrazo Oñate Karen Mishelle; Tigre Ortega Franklin GeovannyThis work studies the washing and dyeing process of Stone type jeans in a company in the Pelileo sector called Dayantex, this focused on proposing practices that benefit the reduction of waste Lean & Green, the study was carried out under the quali-quantitative approach because the information gathering was through questions and interviews, and also acquired data from the process through diagrams and calculations. Also, an applied research was carried out since possible solutions are proposed, through the documentary bibliographic research was known about the subject of study, also the possible tools to control each waste were designated and finally with the field research evidence was taken, 5S audits to know the state of the company and to have an idea of the processes or activities need to improve. This was how by choosing the most demanded product through an ABC analysis, the flow of the value chain was studied with the VSM, which gave a baseline for the development of the study and define the waste and therefore the tools that could improve processes and times. With the proposal of the 5S, Poka- Yoke and Jidoka, it is sought to reduce certain unnecessary transports, which are present in all processes, in addition solutions are proposed to avoid defects in the garments, with this a VSM was designed where the cycle time of the activities was reduced, after the improvements are executed. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025-02) Peñafiel Ibarra Juan Carlos; Ortiz Guerrero Daysi MargaritaThis project presents a proposal for implementing Lean Manufacturing methodology at Curtiembre Aldas, located in the Tungurahua province of Ecuador. The company specializes in transforming cattle hides into finished leather for footwear and clothing. The main focus of this proposal is to eliminate non-value-adding activities, targeting key wastes such as unnecessary movements, excessive transport, and waiting times. Through the use of Lean tools, these issues within the company were addressed effectively. The research suggests the application of the 5S methodology to improve workstations by introducing manuals and systems for order and cleanliness. This approach aims to minimize time lost searching for tools or cleaning equipment, resulting in a significant 35.6% improvement compared to the company’s initial performance. As part of the SMED methodology implementation proposal, internal activities were converted into external ones, effectively organizing the necessary tools and equipment at the workstations. This led to reduced machine changeover times: from 25.83 minutes to 15.11 minutes on the splitting machine, from 68.44 minutes to 46.54 minutes on the trimming machine, and from 31.42 minutes to 19.06 minutes on the fleshing machine. Following the implementation of both methodologies, noticeable improvements were achieved in the production processes of Curtiembre Aldas, particularly in the ribera area.Item Aplicación de herramientas lean manufacturing en el Taller de Innovación y Desarrollo Tecnológico FISEI(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-02) Calapaqui Panoluisa, Nathaly Nicole; Ureña Aguirre, Jeanette del PilarThis research proposes introduction of Lean Manufacturing methodology in the facilities of the FISEI Workshop to reduce generated waste on its areas. To achieve the general objective of improving the internal conditions of the FISEI Workshop based on the development of lean manufacturing methodology, three stages were carried out: first, a process mapping was conducted to establish the internal activities of workshop, identifying waste classified as waiting times, excess inventory, unnecessary processes, and unused talent generated because arbitrary work. Second, using weighted factors method, 5S methodology was selected to improve internal conditions of plant based on the identified waste, implementing changes according to use of red cards that allowed carrying out all proposed actions. Finally, the sequence of activities of processes in FISEI Workshop was established through development of work instructions. It was concluded that the company improved order and cleanliness conditions under the principle of eliminating unnecessary objects and through delegation by the Committee which conducts periodic audits to ensure compliance with the standardization of 5S methodology.
