The implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) increasingly addresses more fields in which it is possible to have control and monitoring of variables such as water flow, which gives a plus and bringing the digital era to another level where society is increasingly benefited. This research project shows how a novel telemetry system has been developed and implemented for the control and consumption of drinking water in residences, based on Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN, in short, as it will be used hereinafter), which therefore uses a communication protocol and network architecture, with which it is possible to make communication links between IoT devices. This prototype was implemented in two residences located in Venezuela and Casimiro Nieto streets in Canton Rumiñahui. The system consists of an end node, gateway or concentrator, network server and application server; The final nodes or final devices are the sensors installed in each residence that measure the water flow, these measurements have been tested and calibrated together with the measurements emitted by the analog meters and performing a mathematical operation based on the data obtained from the water sheets in cubic meters, These data are then sent through the LoRaWAN architecture to a Gateway, data that are sent to the server using a bidirectional and light MQTT messaging protocol and then displayed on the Node-Red dashboard, where the water consumption graphs are shown in real time. The system establishes communication with the MySQL database hosted on Google Cloud Platform with which management and monitoring is possible.

This work addresses the challenge of precise trajectory tracking control in the KUKA youBot robotic manipulator, focusing on an alternative computed torque control method. The approach aims to overcome the inherent non-linearities of these systems, considering both structured (model errors) and unstructured (friction) uncertainties. The alternative method implements a cascade PI controller, combining position and velocity controllers for improved disturbance rejection. A crucial aspect is the accurate identification of dynamic model parameters, as those provided by manufacturers are often inaccurate. The work includes a detailed analysis of the semantics used in rigid body algorithms, contributing to a more precise construction of geometric relationships. Additionally, friction compensation is incorporated to enhance controller performance. The implementation of the alternative method is complemented by a safety control layer that constantly monitors the state of the joints, protecting the system's valuable hardware. The experiments conducted include validation of the dynamic model through gravity compensation tasks and controller tests with analytical trajectories. Friction modeling and compensation experiments were carried out, and the control scheme was evaluated on the joints farthest from the base. The results demonstrate that, despite inaccuracies in the dynamic model parameters, the controller achieves precise trajectory tracking with acceptable errors in the manipulator's joints. This work significantly contributes to the field of robotic control, offering valuable insights into the practical implementation of advanced controllers in complex robotic systems, particularly in handling uncertainties and optimizing performance in trajectory tracking tasks.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Tecnologías de la Información, 2024-09) Moya Quinatoa, Kevin Alejandro; Álvarez Mayorga, Edison Homero
Technological innovation is fundamental for business development and efficiency in Industry 4.0, which demands staying updated with the latest technologies. The rapid growth in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) offers high benefits and low operational costs, creating more stable and automated work environments. However, one of the greatest challenges in applying AI is the complexity of trajectory planning for mobile robots, as their behavior varies according to the scenario and algorithms used, making it difficult to compare learning and performance between different methods. This research, as part of the project titled "Use of Deep Learning Techniques for Trajectory Planning of Mobile Robots within an Industrial Process," developed a trajectory planning algorithm using Q-learning and a multi-agent system that collaborate in decision-making. This algorithm employs odometry and laser sensor signals to manage states and rewards. Tests were conducted in a ROS simulation environment and replicated in a real-world scenario with the KUKA Youbot robot to implement the algorithm's actions. The simulated environment recreates a space with obstacles, where a master agent evaluates the decisions made by the odometry agent and the laser sensor agent to autonomously make a final decision. This contributes to the comparison of AI algorithms in terms of efficiency and effectiveness within the mentioned project, laying a foundation for future improvements in trajectory planning on mobile platforms.

Inventory management is a fundamental pillar for operational efficiency and, above all, for the profitability of organizations. This study proposes an inventory management model for the company TECNIMAQ, with the purpose of reducing inventory costs and providing the company with a tool to avoid overstocks or shortages of its products so that it can respond efficiently to customer demands. The methodology employed includes a quantitative analysis focused on the application of the EOQ model in conjunction with safety inventories, order points and time between orders based on historical data and demand forecasts. The results show that the company currently manages its inventory empirically or improvised, without considering any control parameter, which has resulted in high inventory costs and sometimes in product obsolescence. The application of the EOQ model based on the demand forecast shows that the inventory turnover increases from 1,846 to 2,314 and the total inventory costs are reduced from $287624.65 to $238075.95, which represents a savings of 17.20%, this shows a significant improvement in the operational efficiency of our company without affecting the availability of items. In conclusion, through proper inventory management the organization will be able to generate savings and adapt to future fluctuating market changes.
