Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Cárdenas Llumitasig, Luigui Fernando; Chérrez Gavilanes, Diego SebastiánThis research project is based on the lack of conservation management of the old PanAmerican Highway E35 in the Lasso sector; the road has different anomalies in the pavement, which, if not maintained in a timely manner, would cause inconveniences to the population of the sector. In the study of the structure of the wearing course, a georeferenced survey of the road was carried out with the help of GNSS RTK HI-TARGET V30 equipment, a volumetric traffic count, evaluation of the physical components present on the road, field and laboratory tests to determine the pavement structure and soil composition, and a visual inspection to determine the level of damage to the wearing course and its structural behavior. These analyses made it possible to determine the traffic performance of the road, classifying it as an RI - RII (2) Arterial Corridor. The average CBR was also calculated at 66.6 percent, which classifies it as good, suitable for base use. The soil composition shows a high content of poorly graded sands, a wearing course that is rated as good with an average PCI (Pavement Condition Index) score of 64.65 points. The Benkelman beam shows Type I deflections, which correspond to adequate structural behavior. As a result, a conservation plan for the road is proposed based on the current damages evaluated in the structure of the wearing course, offering solutions for a correct rehabilitation, conservation and maintenance of the road. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-09) Zambrano Cedeño, Alexander Israel; Frías Torres, Alex XavierIn this experimental project, the need for the province of Tungurahua to maintain the intercantonal road network is presented, since the people of Tungurahua must maintain the road network in good condition, being a central province in the country, it is key for socio-development. economic, intercommunication and tourism. In the experimental project presented, a georeferenced survey of the roads under study was carried out, where the coordinates were digitized, obtaining a 2D model. Afterwards, a visual study of the road was carried out applying the PCI (PAVEMENT CONDITION INDEX) method, finding 19 different types of failures on the road surface of the roads under study, these failures are in ranges of mild, medium and high. A solution is proposed that helps road conservation with rehabilitation; a modified pavement with PVC (vinyl plochloride) is proposed, where 1, 2 and 3 percent of fine aggregate was replaced by PVC. As a result, it was obtained that the average PCI is 60.34 percent on the Patate – Pillaro road, 71 in Pelileo – Patate, 81 in Quero – Salasaca and 83.5 in Patate – Baños, on the other hand the pavement modified with PVC using the MARSHALL test. for flexible pavements resulted in the addition of this material improving the mechanical characteristics of the flexible pavement with an optimal percentage of AC-20 of 6.5 percent and 3 percent of PVC, obtaining stability and flow values of 4469.21 lb, 13 percent hundred. cent respectively. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-09) Fiallos Cevallos, María José; Pérez Maldonado, Ruth LorenaRiobamba city has various alternative routes for access, one of which is the Pelileo - Cotaló road. This road has shown deterioration in its pavement structure, raising the need for developing an appropriate conservation plan to maintain it in optimal conditions and ensure its functionality. An exhaustive topographic survey of the Pelileo - Cotaló road was carried out, providing detailed information about its physical characteristics. Additionally, vulnerable areas of the road were identified through this survey, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent development of the conservation plan. Furthermore, a comprehensive traffic study was conducted on the road, based on the Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT). This analysis allowed for understanding the vehicular flow and vehicle characteristics, and the PCI was performed. These data were fundamental in comprehending pavement wear and deterioration, as well as identifying specific maintenance needs. As a result of this work, a specific maintenance plan was proposed to address the road's deterioration. The plan relied on the data obtained from the topographic survey and traffic study. Proposed actions included crack sealing, pothole repair, and periodic maintenance. These interventions have proven effective in improving the road's condition to ensure its durability and safety. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-03) Hugo Duran, Marco Antonio; Aldás Sánchez, Milton RodrigoIn response to the poor design and state of the roads that connect the Riobambeñita-La Independencia communities belonging to the El Triunfo parish, the necessary studies were carried out to improve the road that unites these communities, with the purpose of improving the viability of this sector. For the development of the project, the topographic survey was carried out with a total station, the vehicle count which with a 20-year projection gave us a value of 504 vehicles per day. The soil studies were carried out by means of test pits dug every 500 meters, with this study it was possible to determine a design CBR of 6.7 percent, a value used later for the respective calculation of the pavement to be designed applying the AASHTO 93 regulations, thus allowing to guarantee a good design for posterity. The geometric design, both horizontal and vertical, of the road was carried out in accordance with the specifications issued by the MOP 2003, a standard that classifies it as a Class III road to determine the characteristics, as well as minimum radii, minimum and maximum slopes, ditches, volumes in cut and fill, cross section, slopes and drainage works. The referential budget was determined with the values of volumes of work and analysis of unit prices obtained and entered into the Punis software in the GADPPz, in which a total budget of one million four hundred fifty-five thousand thirty-one dollars, 96/100 cents was obtained. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-01) Lara Pérez, Lenin Alejandro; Aldas Sánchez, Milton RodrigoThe section of the road under study at this moment is not in optimal condition, which makes mobility difficult because of the fact that it is the connection point between cantonal capitals such Mocha - Cevallos being a highly productive (populated) area, which causes there to be inefficient marketing of this products. For the development of this technical work, a georeferenced survey was initially carried out with the help of an RTK, this determines the length, width, ditches, water passages, and other sections of the road. A manual count of the types of vehicles that circulate on the road the Annual Average Daily Traffic (TPDA) was determined, this was done during a week with 12 daily hours taken into account from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Subsequently, soil test pits were extracted, two per kilometer, and altered soil samples were obtained to be tested in the laboratory and the granulometry, compaction, Atterberg limits and California Support Index (CBR) test were determined. The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) study was carried out, through which the degree of severity of the damages located in the surface layer was identified. Finally, the test was carried out with the Benkelman beam, which allowed determination of the deflections of the pavement. Once the results of the tests were obtained, graphs, tables, abacuses and plans were made, which allowed them to be clearly interpreted. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-01) Sánchez Núñez, Andrés Fernando; Portilla Yandún, Favio PaúlDue to the conditions of the road, which presents problems and does not provide the necessary road safety for the adequate mobilization of its inhabitants, this plan is proposed to extend its useful life by means of road evaluation studies. To begin with, a georeferenced survey was obtained, using GPS, with a total of 324 points and a length of 4.4 kilometers using the CIVIL3D program. The TPDA was determined by a manual vehicle count during one week at an interval of twelve hours per day, classifying it as a Class II collector road. Soil samples were extracted and tested for granulometry, Atterberg limits, compaction test and CBR; obtaining a poorly graded sandy soil (SP) and silty sand (SM). In addition, with the CBR test it was concluded that the soil quality presented varied from "Fair" to "Good". The visual inspection was carried out using the PCI method, evaluating 18 sampling units, 5 of which were critical, resulting in a value of 32.51, which is a BAD pavement, requiring rehabilitation along the road. The non-destructive Benkelman Beam test was performed in 23 stations every 200 meters along the road, obtaining a TYPE III deflection, qualifying the subgrade as "GOOD" and the pavement as "BAD". Finally, it is considered to improve road safety by improving the quality of life of road users. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Ortiz Sánchez, Johnny Sebastián; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoThe Patate-Baños road is one of the very important arteries for the province of Tungurahua and the center of the country, since it serves as an outlet for agricultural and livestock products from the Patate canton, where 84 percent of its population lives in rural areas and are dedicated to the economic sector; in addition to functioning as an entry and exit of tourists to the Canton of Baños, where 90 percent of its economy depends on tourism; this is why the conservation of the tread layer is necessary so that there are no mobility complications. Through information gathering, field tests, laboratory tests, and bibliographic research, the characteristics of the road and the soil where it sits were achieved, based on which road maintenance was proposed. In the PCI tests, positive results were obtained, a value of 80.23 that means particularly good condition of the pavement, CBR with results of: excellent and good for subgrade, and Benkelman Beam with deflections below the admitted limits; gave values that indicated good behavior of the pavement and the subgrade. With these results, a road maintenance plan was proposed for the project road, both routine and periodic so that the road is preserved in the best possible condition and maintains the connection between both cantons. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Ortiz Mayorga, Jeremy Sebastián; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoIn the present, road development is very important worldwide, which is why several civil engineering associations see conservation and maintenance as a concern, this is due to low economic resources. In this project, a georeferenced survey, a study of vehicle mobility, a visual inspection in the place based on the PCI method and laboratory tests were carried out to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the soil where the asphalt structure was settled. When developing this process, it was determined that by means of vehicle mobility, the road is a C1 Collector type II road with a roadway in excellent condition since the average PCI is 93.76, in turn the pavement deflections were evaluated with the CONREVIAL method. Giving us type I deflections, this concludes that the structure is functional and adequate. To finish studies realized were those of soils, thus knowing the base where the pavement structure is based. When developing the granular study and Atterberg limits, a Loamy Sand (A-2-4) with a CBR of 10 percent was obtained, with these data we interpret that the subgrade has Fair-Good conditions. The purpose of the study is to carry out a routine and periodic maintenance plan satisfying the needs of the road, for this reason we have economic and functional solutions.
