The main aim of this research was focused on measuring how Wannalisn app improves listening skill in students. The process of this research work used a quantitative approach in order to collect statistical data and perform an analysis of the evolution of the research. The research was applied in a population of 23 sixthsemester students of Pedagogia de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros degree from the Universidad Tecnica de Ambato, the procedure of this research was in 3 weeks with a total of 9 sessions. The technique used to measure the evolution between the interval of participation was the application of the standardized Preliminary English Test that is designed to B1 students. This test was applied at the beginning and end of the research, where in the Pre-Test an average of 6.35 out of 13 points was obtained and in the Post-Test an average of 12.17 out of 13 points was obtained. The results derived generate a difference of 5.82 points of evolution that indicate an improvement in relation between the two tests applied. Finally, the conclusion established that the use of Wannalisn app caused an improvement of the listening skill in the students, demonstrating that it is a fundamental tool for the development of this skill in the students.

    Videogames and oral interaction
(Carrera de Pedagogía de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros, 2022-03-01) Nasimba Caisaguano, Bryan Alexander; Sulca Guale, Manuel Xavier
This research is aimed to analyze the impact of videogames in the oral interaction of learners from 2nd and 3rd grade of Bachillerato General Unificado from Unidad Educativa “Semillas de Vida” in Latacunga. The research work was pre-experimental with a mixed approach and it was carried out as a qualitative-quantitative study. The experiment was applied to 16 learners. There were a pre-test and a post-test which was scored by an adapted rubric from the Cambridge Assessing Speaking Performance – Level A2. It was a two-part test mainly focused on evaluating the oral interaction of learners by answering questions and describing pictures. Videogames were the main tool during the treatment because of one of its characteristics, the real time interaction; in which learners were encouraged to participate actively to reach a common goal to win a match. Learners were given a set of game-related vocabulary and phrases in order to practice it in the next step of the treatment to reach that goal. Thus, learners were exposed to videogames with the interactive game mechanic in which they had to work collaboratively and use the given vocabulary and phrases to communicate with each other during four weeks Because of that encouragement they had not only to reach a game goal, but also and educational objective, developing a language skill and the ability to interact fluently. At the end of the research work it can be concluded that videogames influence in students’ learning, especially in the oral interaction. It is recommended for the educational field to research deeper about videogames, therefore it would be an excellent tool to keep learners engaged with the correct aim, and a well-designed curriculum.

On the other hand, it is quantitative because a standardized pre-test and post-test were taken from Cambridge Assessment were used to measure the level of learners in reading comprehension in three levels: Literal, Inferential and Evaluative. In addition, this research used an experimental design because treatment was applied to 27 students of PINE majors. Also, through the platform "Mobincube", the researcher created a mobile application called "Developing Reading Levels 1.0" which contained authentic material focused on improving students’ reading comprehension. This platform was very intuitive since it was easy to access and to complete the tasks provided by the teacher. Finally, learners demonstrated an increase in their cognitive abilities at the moment of answering literal, inferential, and evaluative questions and various points of view of the author. Consequently, it can be concluded that the use of mobile applications influenced the development of their reading comprehension when analyzing and understanding complex texts from the ease of their mobile device
