Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2017) Ortiz Medrano, Edison David; Pérez Salinas, Cristian FabiánThe following technical project is related about adaptation an electrical system to a tourist buggy, which had an internal combustion engine by origin, which electrical mechanical components were performed in the chassis of the Buggy. As a result, the use of new energies for transportation and technological innovations were reached. To reduce the pollution in the environment, noise, and the easy maintenance facility. It has been started from a chassis, and through the appropriate studies and analysis, was settle the components and their selection for the conversion of the Buggy which is driven by an electric engine. This one consists of a battery bank, a controller, and an electric engine of direct current (DC). Consequently, it was developed in two parts such as the mechanical and electrical. In the mechanical checking was based on the transmission system in the design and construction of the support for the electric engine as well as the gears and the chain previously calculated. In addition, the electrical part was based on the connections between the engine, batteries and controller which are linked by the correct operation. In conclusion, the Buggy operating system is developed by accelerating the pedal which is linked to a potentiometer which sends the signal to the controller and this one by a certain logic reaching that the engine turns more or less revolutions depending on the desire of the user. Additionally, the controller has other features such as reversing motor rotation and regeneration of energy; It means that it takes advantage of the rotation of the motor to charge the batteries when this one works like a generator, with sensors that warn when the speed is reduced (braking). The performance tests performed succeed obtaining a safe handling for the user achieving a maximum speed of 48 km / h on straight roads with an autonomy of 22 km.Item Adquisición de datos de parámetros hidráulicos y su efecto en el ajuste de las curvas de funcionamiento teóricas en el banco de bombas centrífugas del Laboratorio de Energía de la Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2023-09) Chaglla Toapanta, Bryan Joel; Castro Miniguano, Christian ByronToday, the use of composite materials is very common in various professional and industrial applications, so it is necessary to ensure that the materials meet a high level of safety for the end user. Creating composite materials lies in the sole purpose of improving their properties, therefore, in the present investigation it is intended to evaluate and compare the fire resistance of polymer matrix composite materials reinforced with natural fibers (cabuya, chambira, coconut and totora) against a synthetic fiber (fiberglass), allowing us to consider a possible substitution of synthetic materials for environmentally friendly materials, which could open a new market for their commercialization. In order to establish the appropriate percentages for the formation of composite materials, the volumetric fractions of previously carried out titling works were taken into consideration, where the percentages that provide the best characteristics of the material are detailed, having these values, the amount of resin, fiber and catalyst necessary for each configuration was calculated, after that, all these components were placed in the mold sized according to the NTE INEN ISO 3795 standard, applying manual compression on each material, once the process was completed, it was necessary to you have to wait for the curing time and verify that the new material is fully solidified. Once the samples were ready, they were sent to the LIM-UTA Mechanical Research Laboratory, to be tested, finally the combustion rate of each material was obtained, where an average of 3.61 mm/min was recorded for the Cabuya fiber, 6.72 mm/min for the Chambira fiber, 4.91 mm/min for the coconut fiber, 8.46 mm/min for the reed fiber and 9.18 mm/min for the glass fiber. Based on the results, it was possible to determine that the cabuya fiber-reinforced polyester resin composite material with a value equivalent to 3.61 mm/min is the material with the lowest propagation index compared to the other fibers evaluated. Equally important, the effect of reduction of the material tensile strength due to low levels of magnesium silicide.Item Análisis de costos externos negativos en buses de transporte urbano, producidos por la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero, caso Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2021-09) Barreno Ávila, Alex Francisco; Mayorga Pardo, Alex SantiagoIn this experimental work, the negative external costs of urban transport buses, produced by the emission of greenhouse gases in the city of Ambato, were analyzed. Information was collected from the five urban bus operators (cooperatives) to determine the study population of 391 buses. The buses were classified by EURO technology (EURO 1: 36, EURO 2: 251 and EURO 3: 104). For the measurement of gases, a Bacharach model ECA 450 environmental combustion analyzer was used to determine the concentrations of each greenhouse gas emitted into the atmosphere by means of stoichiometric and physical calculations. The gases analyzed were carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, which were expressed in tons of carbon dioxide equivalent using the updated value assigned by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) known as the Global Warming Potential. An emission of 8,792.38 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent was estimated for a period of one year of operation. The statistical analysis was performed with the Welch ANOVA method while the GamesHowell method was used for the post-hoc analysis. A statistically significant difference was found between the EURO 2 and EURO 3 groups. For the calculation of the externality, the shadow price of EUR 140 (approx. USD 160) was used, which corresponds to an external cost equivalent to EUR 1,230,933.20 (USD 1,403,263).Item Análisis de desgaste abrasivo de rellenos de soldadura de acero inoxidable por proceso SMAW sobre acero AISI-304 evaluado en un medio acuoso bajo la norma G105-20(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2024-02) Espinosa Ortiz, Edison Aldemar; Vaca Ortega, Wilson HenryThis study examines the issue of abrasive wear in AISI 304 stainless steel and utilizes welding fillers applied through the SMAW process to significantly reduce its wear rates in aqueous environments. Constant exposure to this type of wear diminishes the durability and performance of stainless-steel components, resulting in costly maintenance and replacements in a variety of industrial applications. The tribological properties inherent to each material were evaluated to determine the filler with the highest wear resistance. Specific stainless-steel electrodes, such as E308L-16, E309-16, E312-16, and E410-16, were employed during the research, following the guidelines set forth by ASTM G105-20. Specimens were immersed in wet abrasive sand under constant load for predetermined times in the experiment. The behavior of AISI 304 stainless steel in aqueous environments was assessed through weight difference measurements and wear rate analysis. The results highlight the effectiveness of some welding fillers, such as the E410-16 electrode, in reducing the abrasive wear of AISI 304 stainless steel. ASTM G105-20 ensured that the collected data were valid, with the coefficient of variation within the allowed limits. Finally, this research has a direct impact on improving the wear resistance of stainlesssteel components in practical applications, opening new possibilities to maximize material durability and reduce maintenance and replacement costs.Item Análisis de dureza, resistencia a la tracción y desgaste de materiales termoplásticos obtenidos a partir de la resina Tough de prototipado robusto para impresión 3D por estereolitografía (SLA)(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2021-01) Villena López, Oscar Rodrigo; Pérez Salinas, Cristian FabianFor this experimental work, Clear resin and Tough resin were used. Clear resin is one of the most widely used commercial prototype resins. On the other hand, Tough resin is used in the engineering field (mainly in scale mechanical components). All these resins are used in stereolithography 3D printing. The investigation considered 3 different post-cure times, all of them recommended by the manufacturer. Three types of curing were used: no curing, normal curing and maximum curing. For the Clear resin, post-curing times of 0, 15 and 30 minutes were applied under the incidence of UV rays. While for the Tough resin, times of 0, 60 and 120 minutes were considered. The CAD models were produced taking into account international testing standards (ASTM D638 and ISO 9352). This is due to hardness, traction and abrasion tests. The abrasion and hardness tests were carried out in the university laboratories. The tensile test is a compendium of several authors whose information has been verified and approved, that is, their level of confidence is high. Once the tests had been carried out, it was determined that the standard resin (Clear), in terms of hardness, has a higher grade compared to Tough. On the other hand, Engineering resin (Tough) has less resistance to abrasion. The tensile results affirm that both resins do not have a marked difference in their behavior.Item Análisis de eficiencia térmica en el calentador cerrado con alimentación de vapor de 4 metros cúbicos de capacidad para abastecimiento de agua caliente sanitaria del Hospital Dr. Julio Enrique Paredes C. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2018) Almache Jiménez, Alex Andrés; Moya Pinta, Diego ArmandoThe present experimental project is focused on studying the renewable resources available in the province of Tungurahua (solar-biomass-geothermal). The project is based on determining the characteristics of each renewable resource for using within a Rankine Organic Cycle. In order to take advantage of its energy potential for micro generation, by using a radial flow turbine. And the use of computer tools, such as the ANSYS Software Academic and the EES Software Academic, with the purpose of simplifying the analysis and obtaining reliable results. First, the Rankine Organic Cycle analysis was performed using different configurations in the cycle. For instance, the use of a single renewable resource, such as heat source inside of evaporator. In addition to this, it was carried out the hybridization of renewable resources, by using one and two heat sources to preheat the working fluid before arriving to the evaporator in order to increase the thermal performance of the cycle and its power. The thermal power for being used as a heat source was determined by taking advantage of the daily global irradiation on the surface of the Tungurahua province for the solar resource. In the case of the biomass resource, the quantity of biomass resource transformed to biogas was determined, through the treatment of sludge available in the wastewater treatment plant of Ambato city, located in the Las Viñas place. Finally, for the geothermal resource the use of geothermal water available in the thermal sources of the "Virgin" in Baños de Agua Santa city was determined. In the thermodynamic study of the cycle, three different working fluids, determined by the temperature of the renewable resource were used. Likewise, the mass flow of these was calculated for each configuration of the cycle in order to obtain data such as pressures, enthalpies and temperatures at each point of the cycle. It is worth mentioning that the EES software Academic was used for this analysis, since it has a large base of thermo-physical properties of different working fluids. Moreover, different geometries of radial turbines were analyzed. These geometries were sized and designed using tools available in the ANSYS software Academic. Also, this software allowed us to perform the analysis of different working fluids in each geometry by simulating them. Obtaining results such as the power of the turbine; pressures, temperatures and kinetic energy of turbulence in the blade of the turbine.
