Item Calidad de sueño y el estado nutricional en docentes de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Nutrición y Dietética, 2023-09-22) Chauca Toapanta, Veronica Natali; Zuñiga Sanchez, Valeria MonserrathPoor sleep quality has negative effects on health due to alterations in metabolism. The objective of the study was to identify the relationship between sleep quality and nutritional status of teachers of the Universidad Tecnica de Ambato, through anthropometric and dietary assessment. The study was a descriptive observational cross-sectional study, where the sample consisted of 38 teachers between 29 and 59 years of age. Two questionnaires were used for the study: the Pittsburgh sleep quality index and the food consumption frequency questionnaire according to the IASE healthy eating index. The statistical analysis was performed in the IBM SPSS Statistics 2021 program, where it was found that 65.8% of the study sample had poor sleep quality, while 44.7% were overweight and 5.3% obese, measured by body mass index (BMI); likewise, body fat percentage, body fat area, waist circumference were altered, all of which shows that most teachers have altered body composition. The 94.7% presented a diet in need of change and 5.3% an unhealthy diet, that is to say, the total population has inadequate eating habits. No statistical significance was found between sleep quality and body composition (p>0.05), however, a close relationship was observed in the percentage of body fat (p 0.06). When sleep quality was related to diet, the same result was obtained. Consequently, although there was no statistically significant relationship between nutritional status and sleep quality, important trends were observed.Item Factores alimentarios y su relación en la prevalencia de anemia en niños/as de 2 a 5 años en la comunidad de Pasa(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Nutrición y Dietética, 2023-09-22) Valle López, Nicole Monserrath; Llangari Zurita, Mirian IsabelThe health of children is important especially at early ages, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are 600 million children in pre -school stage with anemia and it is attributed that at least half of these cases are iron deficiency anemia so the objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between nutrition and the prevalence of anemia in children aged 2 to 5 years in the community of Pasa, For this purpose, hemoglobin tests were performed to determine the value of anemia and a survey was used to investigate knowledge, attitudes and practices on food and nutrition in children through information obtained from their parents. Un estudio de revisión(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Nutrición y Dietética, 2023-10-05) Eivar Toscano, Melanie Estefanía; Chávez Velasco, Irlanda de LourdesThe nutritional management in infantile cerebral palsy (ICP) is essential to improve the nutritional status and quality of life of affected children. This review focuses on providing a detailed update on the nutritional management in children with ICP, evaluating effective interventions and discussing strategies to improve feeding and nutrition in this patient group. ICP is a chronic neurological condition that affects motor development, posture, and balance in children, which can result in complications related to feeding and nutrition, negatively impacting growth, cognitive development, and immune function. Common feeding difficulties include dysphagia, lack of coordination in sucking and swallowing, oral hypersensitivity, and lack of interest in feeding. The review is based on a systematic search of scientific literature published between 2010 and 2023 in English or Spanish, evaluating the methodological quality of the selected studies and synthesizing relevant data in a narrative review. Effective nutritional interventions are discussed, such as tube feeding, modification of food texture and consistency, and swallowing therapy, emphasizing the importance of adapting nutritional management to the individual needs of each child. Additionally, risks and complications associated with some nutritional interventions are mentioned, emphasizing the need to work with specialized healthcare professionals. In conclusion, nutritional management in ICP is crucial to improve the nutritional status and quality of life of affected children, and this review provides updated and useful information on effective nutritional interventions, highlighting the importance of nutritional assessment in the care of these patients
