Item Medición del trabajo en el proceso de producción de calzado en la empresa HCH-SHOES(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización.This degree work aimed to carry out a work measurement study of the sports footwear production process at HCH-Shoes, whose empirical management generated unproductive times and difficulties in meeting a wholesale demand of 20 to 40 dozens per week. Under a quantitative, descriptive approach, process flow diagrams, travel charts, and analytical process charts were developed for the five areas of the line (cutting, printing, stitching, assembly, and finishing), and the zero-return stopwatch method, together with allowances for fatigue, personal needs, and working conditions, was applied to determine the standard time of each element for the highest-demand model. The findings identified the stitching area as the main bottleneck, with a standard time of 34.41 min per batch (12 pairs), more than twice that of assembly (12.99 min), constraining the weekly capacity to 17.44 dozens against the required demand. The therblig analysis further revealed prolonged mold searches in cutting, unnecessary transport in assembly, and an elevated cleaning time in finishing (1.646 min/pair, 51.5% of the area's standard time) due to cement residue. Based on these findings, a physical plant redistribution proposal was designed by applying the Guerchet Method, which enabled the technical calculation of the minimum required floor space for each area: 70.51 m² required versus 58.11 m² available in the current layout. The proposed design allocates 68.60 m², covering 97 % of the required space and reducing travel distances in the assembly area from 36.49 m to 7.92 m per batch, thereby decreasing process time from 2 h 10 min to 1 h 49 min. Second, a structured 5S Methodology implementation plan was developed, aimed at eliminating non-productive time caused by the disorganization of tools, molds, and materials identified in the therblig analysis. Both proposals directly address the problems detected and fulfill the diagnostic, measurement, and improvement objectives established in the research.Item Propuesta de mejora para el proceso ELPO de la empresa Ciauto mediante herramientas de Lean Manufacturing.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.The electrocoating process ELPO IN CIAUTO has operational limitations that can be improved using Lean Manufacturing tools; an analysis of the current situation identified non-productive times that can be mitigated by implementing machinery to transport units within the ELPO process and increase production to 35 units per day. A production line balancing simulation was done with the goal of proposing the introduction of two additional shuttle buses to the production line, which made it possible to analyses the workflow and the feasibility of producing 50 units per day. The results obtained demonstrated that implementing the improvements proposed in the document reduces waiting times and makes better use of available human and material resources. Furthermore, the simulation shows that the proposal allows for an increase in current production of 15 units, which represents a 42.86 percent increase in productivity. In conclusion, the application of Lean Manufacturing tools in automated processes presents an alternative for optimizing the performance by reducing non-productive times and improving productivity.Item Herramientas de manufactura esbelta en el área de corte de la empresa Corporación Impactex Cía. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.The purpose of this research project is to propose the application of lean manufacturing tools in the cutting department of Corporación Impactex Cía. Ltda., a company dedicated to the manufacture and sale of underwear and sportswear. The study employs direct observation, an interview with the cutting supervisor, time and motion studies, an analytical flowchart, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM). Using ABC analysis, men’s boxer briefs were selected for the study as they are the product with the highest turnover. It was determined that the total standard time for the process is 881.65 minutes per batch of 480 dozen, with the layout stage having the greatest impact on the production flow. In addition, 30 activities were identified across the planning and layout, spreading, cutting, sorting, and packaging stages, where the main sources of waste were determined: unnecessary movements (68 percent), waiting (21 percent), defects (5 percent), and unnecessary activity (5 percent). Based on these results, improvement proposals are put forward using Kanban methodologies to reduce waiting time, 5S to minimize unnecessary movements, Kamishibai to control defects, and Kaizen to eliminate unnecessary weighing. The proposed VSM sets the total batch time at 862.44 min, equivalent to a 2.18 percent reduction, which contributes to a more organized, continuous, and productive process in the cutting area.Item Propuesta de mejora de la productividad de una línea de producción de galletas para perros mediante herramientas de manufactura ajustada(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Maestría en Producción y Operaciones IndustrialesThe purpose of this project was to optimize the productivity of the dog biscuit production line at Soguar S.A. through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools. The initial diagnosis, based on a time study and Value Stream Mapping (VSM), revealed critical deficiencies in the manual rolling and baking process (53 minutes), which prevented the company from meeting market demand and increased operating costs. The proposal was based on four pillars: the application of the 5S methodology to standardize the work environment, achieving a compliance level of 90%; the implementation of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plan in the oven to reduce its operating cycle to 38 minutes; the adoption of the Jidoka principle by incorporating a semi-automatic extruder to eliminate the bottleneck in rolling; and the redesign of the operational flow towards a more synchronized model. The quantitative results show a substantial improvement in the production process: production capacity increased by 76%, from 80000 g to 140800 g per shift. Likewise, lead time was reduced by 47.91% (from 4.3 to 2.24 days). From a financial perspective, the proposal demonstrated high viability with a 27.45% reduction in production costs and an investment recovery period of approximately three months. This allows the organization not only to stabilize its operation, but also to project a competitive and sustainable commercial expansion.Item Balanceo de líneas para mejorar la productividad de la línea de confección textil en la Empresa Corporación Impactex Cia. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.The main objective of this project was to develop line balancing to improve the productivity of the textile apparel production line at Corporación Impactex Cía. Ltda. The first stage consisted of evaluating the current state, characterizing the processes, prioritizing Category A products and grouping them by production lines, and establishing reliable standard times through a time study. Based on this data, a cycle time of 15.66 seconds per unit was set. Subsequently, the Kilbridge and Wester (KWM) heuristic was applied for balancing, complemented by the multi-operator station method to efficiently manage tasks that exceeded the cycle time. Based on this balancing, a fictional sequencing for the global distribution of 12 stations was designed under the Mixed-Model Assembly Line Balancing Problem (MMALBP) approach, utilizing fixed and floating tasks. This redistribution was reflected in a U-shaped Layout, which significantly increases system flexibility. Finally, discrete-event simulation in FlexSim validated the proposal, demonstrating an average increase in line efficiency from 54% to 81% and a drastic reduction in idle time from 33%-45% to 10-11%. The throughput improved remarkably, highlighting an increase in production across the different lines by eliminating bottlenecks and significantly reducing Work in Process (WIP) inventory. The solution guarantees a continuous, stable, and highly efficient production flow, ensuring that the company's installed capacity optimally meets demand.Item Modelo lean manufacturing para la eliminación de desperdicios en la empresa Curtiembre Aldas(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025-02) Peñafiel Ibarra Juan Carlos; Ortiz Guerrero Daysi MargaritaThis project presents a proposal for implementing Lean Manufacturing methodology at Curtiembre Aldas, located in the Tungurahua province of Ecuador. The company specializes in transforming cattle hides into finished leather for footwear and clothing. The main focus of this proposal is to eliminate non-value-adding activities, targeting key wastes such as unnecessary movements, excessive transport, and waiting times. Through the use of Lean tools, these issues within the company were addressed effectively. The research suggests the application of the 5S methodology to improve workstations by introducing manuals and systems for order and cleanliness. This approach aims to minimize time lost searching for tools or cleaning equipment, resulting in a significant 35.6% improvement compared to the company’s initial performance. As part of the SMED methodology implementation proposal, internal activities were converted into external ones, effectively organizing the necessary tools and equipment at the workstations. This led to reduced machine changeover times: from 25.83 minutes to 15.11 minutes on the splitting machine, from 68.44 minutes to 46.54 minutes on the trimming machine, and from 31.42 minutes to 19.06 minutes on the fleshing machine. Following the implementation of both methodologies, noticeable improvements were achieved in the production processes of Curtiembre Aldas, particularly in the ribera area.Item Análisis de metodología lean manufacturing para el mejoramiento de la productividad en el proceso productivo del calzado en industria Vecachi(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025-02) Cruz Chimbo Jonathan Dario; Ortiz Sailema Christian IsmaelThis study focuses on optimizing production processes of a footwear company located in Tungurahua, through a time and motion study and Lean Manufacturing tools application. The most demanded product, the VCS 222 model, was prioritized. Direct observations, unstructured interviews and the process diagrams preparation were carried out to gather information on the current situation. Through the calculation of normal and standard times, the daily, weekly, and monthly production capacity was determined. Analysis of seven wastes through Lean Manufacturing revealed significant problems in the plant layout, generating excessive transportation and time waste. Therefore, a Lean Manufacturing tool selection was developed, which defined 5s as the best tool to be applied and into this application, a plant redistribution proposal was designed using the SLP methodology. As a result, the internal transportation routes were reduced by 51% and productivity increased in the following areas and preliminary phases by the established percentages: Cutting Area 19.45%, Trimming Area 12.77%, Template Assembly 34%, Location of Toe and Counterbores 6.04%, Forming, Assembly and Supply 2.78%, Assembly Area 14.16%, and Finishing Area 3.62%. Finally, instruction was developed for the production manager and operators, detailing the appropriate work method, ensuring the effective implementation of improvements. Ltda., a company dedicated to the production of shoe soles that faced problems affecting its productivity, such as non-standardized processes, inefficient management of information and inventories, and non-optimized production times. The lack of mixing recipes and machine configuration parameters caused quality variability and downtime, and inadequate waste management and performance indicators hindered continuous improvement. The objective was to develop a process management model to improve Milplast's productivity, integrating circular economy principles. An ABC stratification of products was carried out to identify the most relevant products, the documentation of the main processes (milling, fine-tuning, injection, packaging), the creation of detailed sheets for each process. A time study was also carried out and waste was characterized for final disposal. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to obtain a comprehensive understanding. Interviews and observations were conducted to document the processes, and data analysis was performed to understand the company's performance. In addition, a literature review on process management, field research with visits and on-floor observation of the process were conducted. The results were consolidated into a process manual with clear objectives, precise definitions and detailed flow charts. Improvements such as the implementation of a Kardex system, recipe standardization and machine configuration were proposed, which could increase production by 5% and facilitate Milplast's sustainable growth.Item Modelo de sistema de control interno para la producción en la empresa de calzado Canaan(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. The company CANAAN is dedicated to the manufacture of sneakers, characterized by being comfortable, versatile and suitable for daily use. Weekly, almost a thousand pairs of models are produced, which are created according to current trends, always on order from the warehouses that are throughout the country. Currently, the company does not have a previous study or documents on internal control issues. Therefore, a diagnosis of the company’s situation is started. For this, information is collected through a survey with contrasting and oriented questions to the control systems, inspections and checklists are carried out to guarantee the veracity of the answers and evaluate the available tools. Finally, an interview is conducted with the manager, who has a deep knowledge of all production processes. After analyzing the information collected, an SCI model adapted to the company’s needs is created, the roles and responsibilities of each area are defined, controls are established for process management, inventory, quality, safety, documentation and costs. Internal control not only seeks efficiency, but also protects the assets of the organization. This includes not only financial resources, but also data, intellectual property and the physical security of employees. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-02) Constante Sánchez, Sergio David; Tigre Ortega, Franklin GeovannyThe study presented is oriented to elaborate a maintenance plan for the critical equipment of the company Curtiduría Tungurahua S.A. by means of continuous improvement tools such as the TPM philosophy, due to the urgency of optimizing and maximizing the productive availability of the essential machinery installed in the plant. The starting point of the research is a deep analysis of the maintenance management through surveys and maintenance audits to better highlight the opportunities for improvement in the deficiencies found in each area of the department in question such as tooling policies, labeling and blocking systems, investigation of failures and breakdowns, among others described throughout the document. Subsequently, 9,6 % critical equipments were identified out of a total of 52 installed in the company, taking into account frequency and consequence factors; allowing to focus and prioritize the improvement and action efforts on these equipments for the elaboration of a maintenance plan based on failure modes and effects (FMEA). This modal analysis allows reducing a total of 83 shutdowns per year, which translates into approximately 8460 more minutes available for productive activities in the equipment established as critical which represents a reduction in inactivity of 18%.
