At both regional and national levels, the lack of comprehensive technological solutions within public sector infrastructure affects staff performance and generates labor-related discrepancies. In this context, the Human Resources Department of SIS ECU 911 Zonal 3 faced limitations in attendance and leave management due to manual processes and spreadsheet-based records, which led to operational delays, loss of traceability, and risks in data handling. To contribute to the improvement of these processes, this project proposes the implementation of a web application based on the Single Page Application (SPA) architecture for attendance and leave management. To achieve this, an analysis of the existing administrative processes and a study of the technical foundations of the SPA model were conducted, enabling the definition of a decoupled architecture focused on the centralization and automation of institutional information. The developed system integrated functionalities for biometric record synchronization, automated attendance processing, vacation and balance inquiries, as well as digital leave management through approval and electronic signature workflows. As a result, the application reduced manual activities related to attendance processing and leave management, improving consultation times, traceability, and access to information for institutional personnel. Furthermore, data centralization facilitated administrative control within the Human Resources Department. This work represents a technological alternative aimed at strengthening the institution’s administrative management by providing a centralized, secure, and adaptable web-based solution tailored to its operational needs.

This research focused on the design, implementation, and validation of a Host-based Intrusion Detection System (HIDS) using the open-source software Wazuh, aiming to strengthen cybersecurity on an application server running Moodle configured over Ubuntu. The methodology followed a quantitative and experimental approach within a controlled virtualized environment. To ensure system compatibility, a pre-operational version was installed, the ossec.conf file was modified, and system permissions were configured to guarantee full visibility over audit logs and kernel security modules, such as AppArmor. Attack simulations were executed from a Kali Linux virtual machine. In the first scenario, SSH authentication was evaluated using the Hydra tool; the system captured network packets in the auth.log file, demonstrating failed access attempts and displaying customized alerts on the main dashboard. In the second scenario, Denial of Service (DoS) attacks were conducted via TCP flooding. Tests showed that massive attacks disabled the host before it could report to the IDS. To mitigate this, a logical programming script was implemented to directly monitor the state of kernel sockets (netstat) and web server errors from an alternative virtual machine, successfully registering and detecting the DoS on time. Finally, an Active Response was executed, which isolated the attacking machine through a customized script responsible for shutting down the network interface, successfully mitigating the denial of service.

This degree work aimed to carry out a work measurement study of the sports footwear production process at HCH-Shoes, whose empirical management generated unproductive times and difficulties in meeting a wholesale demand of 20 to 40 dozens per week. Under a quantitative, descriptive approach, process flow diagrams, travel charts, and analytical process charts were developed for the five areas of the line (cutting, printing, stitching, assembly, and finishing), and the zero-return stopwatch method, together with allowances for fatigue, personal needs, and working conditions, was applied to determine the standard time of each element for the highest-demand model. The findings identified the stitching area as the main bottleneck, with a standard time of 34.41 min per batch (12 pairs), more than twice that of assembly (12.99 min), constraining the weekly capacity to 17.44 dozens against the required demand. The therblig analysis further revealed prolonged mold searches in cutting, unnecessary transport in assembly, and an elevated cleaning time in finishing (1.646 min/pair, 51.5% of the area's standard time) due to cement residue. Based on these findings, a physical plant redistribution proposal was designed by applying the Guerchet Method, which enabled the technical calculation of the minimum required floor space for each area: 70.51 m² required versus 58.11 m² available in the current layout. The proposed design allocates 68.60 m², covering 97 % of the required space and reducing travel distances in the assembly area from 36.49 m to 7.92 m per batch, thereby decreasing process time from 2 h 10 min to 1 h 49 min. Second, a structured 5S Methodology implementation plan was developed, aimed at eliminating non-productive time caused by the disorganization of tools, molds, and materials identified in the therblig analysis. Both proposals directly address the problems detected and fulfill the diagnostic, measurement, and improvement objectives established in the research.

Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial., 2026-07-09) Valdez Pullutacsi, kevin Alexander; Tubón Nuñez, Edith Elena; Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial.
This research work proposes a process management model for the production area of LUA Bakery and Coffee, based on guidelines focused on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The central objective is to provide tools for the standardization of production processes, given that the company currently lacks a solid process management system. An initial diagnosis was conducted through direct observation, which enabled the collection of detailed information regarding the organization's operational activities, machinery, processes, and functional areas. The core problem was identified, and the processes were classified into strategic, operational, and support categories. Subsequently, the process map and the corresponding characterizations were developed; this technical instrument facilitated the definition of inputs, activities, outputs, required resources, and responsibilities for each process. The analysis based on the external instruction manual for the evaluation of restaurants, cafeterias, and other collective catering establishments from the National Agency for Regulation, Control, and Sanitary Surveillance (ARCSA) evidenced an 87.19% compliance rate with GMP. However, deficient employee knowledge regarding hygiene and food safety, alongside the lack of waste bins classified by waste type, are weaknesses currently exhibited by the cafeteria. Finally, a process and procedure manual was developed under the process management approach. This technical instrument was designed as a structured guide and integrates management indicators and registration forms aimed at controlling vital process aspects and ensuring the continuous optimization of LUA Bakery and Coffee's operations.

Access control to the cash register and vault areas of Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito SOL presented security vulnerabilities due to the reliance on manual logs, which generated risks of identity impersonation, recording errors, and lack of traceability. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to develop an automated access validation application based on facial recognition using convolutional neural networks. The study applied a field and applied methodology with a mixed approach, using surveys, interviews, and observation sheets addressed to a sample of 12 employees in order to diagnose the initial situation. As a result, the proposed application mitigated four high-severity risks and fulfilled seven operational requirements. Furthermore, when comparing two technological models, the transfer learning program implemented with the DeepFace library showed better comparative performance than the local supervised learning classifier, since it used 100 reference photographs per authorized employee, achieving an accuracy of 98 percent, a precision of 96.15 percent, and a sensitivity of 100 percent. In contrast, the local model required 300 photographs and obtained 55 percent accuracy with 89 false negatives. Thus, it was concluded that the implementation of neural networks reduced dependence on physical records and automated biometric verification in real time, providing a more secure, traceable, and auditable access management process for the financial institution.

In higher education, students often receive late or intermittent feedback, and teachers rarely have timely information about their groups’ learning. This work develops a teacher-supervised generative AI tutoring system, which provides students with support aligned to the content of each lesson and gives teachers a consolidated view of their group’s progress. The system exposes a REST API through which the intelligent tutor and the feedback features were integrated into NousAI, which brings together three complementary proposals. The proposal articulates three components: an intelligent tutor contextualized by learning object, weekly feedback for the teacher at the learning-object and module levels, and weekly feedback for the student by module. Supervision rests with the teacher, who decides which learning objects are published and accesses feedback that takes into account students’ actions. Validation applied the System Usability Scale questionnaire to a sample of students and a qualitative questionnaire to five teachers. Perceived usability exceeded the adopted reference value, with a mean of 71.09 out of 100 from 154 valid responses and a 95 % confidence interval between 68.34 and 73.84. Usability proved solid (72.79) against a lower learnability (64.29), which concentrates the greatest room for improvement. Teachers expressed unanimous willingness to keep using it, with confidence in the information generated by the model as the main reservation.
