    The purpose of this thesis was to analyze the current state of information literacy (IL) in the university community of the National University of Chimborazo (UNACH) with the goal of designing a training proposal that strengthens the development of information skills. Information literacy is an essential element in the academic field, as it allows students to identify, locate, evaluate, and use information effectively, contributing to their educational and professional performance. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and employed techniques such as interviews with academic authorities and observation in study and learning environments. This analysis identified that the universit y community faces difficulties in using technological tools and digital resources, as well as significant information gaps in key competencies, such as critical evaluation of sources and ethical management of information. Based on these findings, a training proposal was designed, structured into thematic modules that address fundamental aspects such as advanced searching in academic databases, source quality assessment, correct citation and ethical information management, as well as strategies for the efficient use of digital libraries. This study contributes to strengthening the role of university libraries as agents of change in the knowledge society, promoting comprehensive training that meets the demands of today's academic and professional environment.

    Estrategias de alfabetización informacional para la optimización del uso de recursos electrónicos y bases de datos en la educación superior

    The purpose of this study is to evaluate information literacy strategies (ALFIN) in order to optimize and improve the use of electronic resources and databases in the library of the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana at the Cuenca branch. on the other hand, the study seeks to identify the skills, training needs and areas for improvement of current users in order to improve them; through a quantitative analytical level, a structured questionnaire with a Likeirt scale was applied to 200 active users. where basic knowledge, access to electronic resources and the impact of training provided by the library area on learning were explored, revealing that a significant percentage of users have basic skills, however, there are gaps in areas such as techniques for evaluating information and advanced search tools, despite this, the training was valued positively, and students expressed their interest in receiving more of these. Finally, it is concluded that information literacy strategies have a significant impact on learning because through the use of electronic resources and databases, learning and research are optimized. For this reason, the implementation of user training programs in a personalized or group manner is very well received, promoting improved performance and reaffirming the role that libraries have in the educational environment.

    Estrategias de promoción y los servicios bibliotecarios de la Biblioteca UTPL de la ciudad de Loja

    This research analyzes the promotional strategies used by the UTPL Library in the city of Loja to encourage the use of its library services. The general objective of the study is to determine which promotional strategies can optimize the visibility and accessibility of library services for the university community. The applied methodology follows a quantitative approach, with a correlational scope, a non-experimental design, and a cross-sectional framework. The study population consisted of students from the Architecture program of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture during the academic period from October 2024 to February 2025. A sample of 215 students was selected, who completed an online survey with Likert-type questions. The results revealed divided opinions on library services. While 69% of respondents expressed a positive perception of cultural events and 77% approved new services such as reprography, a significant percentage of students reported disagreement (38-39%) and indecision (20-28%) regarding the clarity of information and the library’s communication channels. Furthermore, the diversity in age groups and academic needs indicated that services should be more inclusive and adaptable. In conclusion, to enhance user satisfaction and engagement, it is recommended to strengthen institutional communication, provide clearer formats for information dissemination, and diversify the activities offered by the library. Implementing more effective promotional strategies will foster greater student interaction with library services and maximize their utilization within the academic environment.

    "Propuesta metodológica para la implementación de un sistema de gestión documental para el GAD de San José de Chimbo"

    The purpose of this study is to develop a methodological proposal for implementing a document management system for the GAD in San José de Chimbo. Based on a mixed approach with qualitative - descriptive character, the present research analyses document management as a real challenge for many organizations. In fact, it is understood as the set of technologies and techniques used to manage the documents of an institution or organization. The results show that most administrative staff rarely receive documents when they enter the GAD of San José de Chimbo, which shows that the document management is inadequate in terms of the dimension mentioned. In addition, most administrative staff rarely consider guaranteeing the user the control and follow-up of the documentation that enters this institution, which shows that document management is inadequate in terms of the dimension mentioned. The conclusion is that most organizations need frequent access to and consultation of archived information. In others, it is the importance of documents or the volume of information that encourages the search for new innovative solutions offering advantages and added value over traditional archiving and storage systems

    Organización técnica del fondo bibliográfico en la atención a los usuarios de la Biblioteca General de la Universidad Estatal de Santa Elena

    The present research work has undergone a development in most of the university libraries of our country, are currently in stages of transformation of both infrastructure and its services, it is inevitable to implement strategic planning and innovation. The purpose in the first part of our work, is the organization of the bibliographic background in the attention to users, presents a series of introductory points highlighting the contributions of the perspective in the field of technical processes; the research carried out on this subject within the Sciences of librarianship. Central part of the problem's approach, how does the technical disorganization of the bibliographic fund affect the lack of attention to users? Was it possible to strengthen the technical processes, through the progress of subscribing to library and documentation studies, when the bibliographic material was incorporated into the Integrated Library Management System, it is in operation, on the website, online catalog, http://bibliotecas.upse.edu.ec/. Through research results, there is a deficiency in the attention to the users. To overcome weaknesses, it is planned to improve strategic planning and innovation, to turn the General Library of the Santa Elena State University into a Resource Center for Learning and Research, implies integration of services and pedagogical factors, in accordance with technology of the digital age. It is proposed, implement the open shelf, to optimize the attention to the users, in the search of information. Consider a new design, for the infrastructure of the General Library.

    “Bases Remotas del Consorcio de Bibliotecas Universitarias del Ecuador en la calidad formativa profesional del Trabajo Social de la Universidad Central del Ecuador“

    El trabajo de investigación bibliográfico y de campo, expone el resultado de los procesos de gestión en la biblioteca, y los servicios que estos procedimientos generan, planificando y poniendo al servicio del usuario, según la suficiente literatura seleccionada en texto y virtual. La amplia conceptualización lograda evidencia que la bibliotecología, la documentación y los tipos de servicio requieren ser abordados, conocidos y aplicados a la realidad concreta que corresponda, mediante el planteamiento de políticas de intervención y soluciones a la problemática objeto de estudio. La evaluación de la biblioteca objeto de estudio, plantea operaciones de mejoramiento, modernización y desarrollo de la Unidad de Información, sustentados en: el estudio situacional mediante encuestas al segmento de usuarios denominado mercado meta nicho MMN, la aplicación de técnicas bibliométricas e informétricas que reflejan indicadores sobre: colecciones, servicios virtuales, tendencia de uso bibliográfico, necesidades expresas y sentidas de los usuarios potenciales internos y externos. En conclusión el Servicio de Referencia Virtual y Productos Periféricos –SRVIPP- se articula: con la época tecnológica, la necesidad académica, científico-técnica, la globalización y acreditación institucional, aplicando el contenido de las Bases de Datos Remotas que son el objeto de trabajo de la investigación.

    “El marketing de servicios bibliotecarios en la Biblioteca Raúl Cadena de la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato”

    La presente monografía titulada: EL MARKETING DE SERVICIOS BIBLIOTECARIOS EN LA BIBLIOTECA “RAUL CADENA” DE LA FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS ADMINISTRATIVAS DE LA UNIVERSIDAD TECNICA DE AMBATO, introduce al concepto de marketing como un marco desde el que se trata de comprender temas actuales de gestión de bibliotecas. El objetivo es comprender la necesidad de disponer de modo organizado, de acuerdo a un plan, los elementos informativos, económicos, humanos y materiales que conforman la biblioteca como sistema. En este trabajo se aspira que los beneficiarios como son el Director y Personal de la Biblioteca asuma la necesidad de la planificación, analicen situaciones, servicios y problemas para plantear y diseñar programas de actuación, que le permitan a la Dependencia entrar en un proceso de mejora continua en busca de la excelencia en el servicio que oferta a sus estudiantes. A lo largo del trabajo se aspira visualizar a la Biblioteca “Raúl Cadena”, alcanzando un marketing de calidad que le implica la integración de las tres estrategias de marketing: marketing directo, que se centra en los clientes, marketing interno, centrado en la formación del personal, y marketing inverso, que lo alcanzará a través de alianzas estratégicas que la asocian con los proveedores de las tecnologías de la información. Se aspira a que la Biblioteca, dentro del ambiente competitivo en el que se desenvuelve, alcance un nivel muy alto, a través de brindar adecuados servicio y productos, conforme a las necesidades reales de los usuarios y con una actitud de compromiso con la satisfacción del cliente que la visita y al mismo tiempo se desea el reconocimiento de parte de sus usuarios, valorando las prestaciones de calidad recibidas de la Dependencia.
