    Evaluación de la red vial en el área urbana de la parroquia Pasa de la nueva historia de Ambato, comprendida en la zona 40

    Currently, the roads in the sector under study show deterioration of the road infrastructure and lack of maintenance in the urban area, seeking to evaluate the current state of the roads as it impacts the mobility and quality of life of the inhabitants of the Pasa parish in the Ambato canton. In this project, georeferenced data collection was carried out using a global positioning system (GPS), complemented by a visual analysis of the road infrastructure failures. Technical sheets were used to collect the necessary information and determine the state of the roads using the pavement condition index (PCI) method, identifying the level of severity of the failures and evaluating the quality of the tread layer. The evaluation was carried out by visual inspection of the tread layer, using georeferencing techniques and the ASTM D6433-03 regulations, the Ecuadorian Road Standard and the article "Pathology of Articulated Pavements" as references to identify and categorize the irregularities. The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) was used to determine the condition of the roads and propose road maintenance strategies. The study hopes to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants and provide a database to the GAD Municipality of Ambato in collaboration with the Technical University of Ambato. The focus is on developing a road maintenance plan due to the lack of planning, by collecting data from zone 40. This analysis resulted in a set of failures in two types of pavements, flexible and articulated, presenting three types of severity, this was reflected in the database obtained with the record of the failures found. Additionally, a reference budget was prepared for each road, taking into consideration the necessary items for the maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks and curbs within the study area.

    Optimización de la geometría de la vía desde el puente Yanayacu hasta Píllaro entre las abs 14+625-19+500 perteneciente a la provincia Tungurahua

    This technical project arises from the need to provide improved roads, safe and comfortable mobility to the inhabitants that covers between the abscissas 14+625 to 19+500 of the city of Píllaro. In addition, with the objective of reducing vehicular travel time and promoting economic development and tourism in the areas involved and their surroundings. The project was divided into three phases. The first consisted of field activities, such as the delimitation of the area and the topographic survey. A traffic study projected for 20 years was also carried out to establish the geometric characteristics of the road. In the second, soil samples were extracted that were analyzed in the laboratory to determine their physical and mechanical properties. Concluding with the optimization of the road following the indications of the MOP 2003 regulations, the calculation of the pavement structure and the preparation of a reference budget for the project. As a result, a total length of the road of 4,712 km was determined, with an undulating relief and not so steep slopes. In addition, a future TPDA of 4387 vehicles/day was projected, which classified the road as Class I. Subsequently, a sandy-silty soil with low moisture content and a design CBR of 20.70 percent was identified, indicating excellent quality for use in the subgrade. Based on this data, the pavement thicknesses were calculated, which were 7.5 cm for the asphalt layer, 15 cm for the base, and 20 cm for the subbase for the pavement structure. Finally, a reference budget of $1,899.616,41 was made for the execution of the project. This proposal will seek to improve connectivity and reduce vehicle time with adequate planning for the development of the technical project, thus contributing to the economic and social growth of the sector.

    Diseño de las obras de drenaje de arte mayores y menores desde el km 0+000 hasta el km 4+500 de la vía que une el sector de Calamaca con la represa de Chiquiurco, Ambato, Tungurahua

    The project is located in the parish of San Fernando, having its origin in the sector of Calamaca and its destination in the reservoir of Chiquiurco, because it is an empirical way presents the lack of drainage works of major and minor art. For this reason, the project was divided into three stages. The first consisted of a topographic survey and hydrological studies, obtaining data from the meteorological station of the Chiquiurco reservoir from 2013 to 2024, in order to determine the maximum flow rates. The second was based on proposing the locations and dimensions of the surface and crown ditch, culverts and bridges, with the objective of complying with the parameters established by the hydraulic design standards for road works. Finally, the third was based on determining the items and unit prices of the project. The result of the maximum intensity of the site was 47.51 mm/h, so the maximum flows in the area were subsequently calculated, obtaining a total of 17 culverts for the entire road with a dimension of 500 mm in diameter, while for the surface ditch a triangular shape was proposed with a dimension of 0.63 m at the base and 0.20 m in height. For the crown gutter, a rectangular shape was proposed with a dimension of 0.30 m base and 0.20 m height.

    Diagnóstico visual y estructural del pavimento de la vía comprendida desde el barrio Cruzpamba – hasta la cancha del barrio Santa Rita, longitud de intervención 4+200 km, perteneciente a la parroquia Píllaro, del cantón Santiago de Píllaro

    The visual and structural evaluation of the road from the Cruzpamba neighborhood to the Santa Rita neighborhood court was very timely, since a road in good condition is assimilated with better living conditions for the residents. Several technical and regulatory assessment procedures were carried out, starting with a vehicle registry for the development of the TPDA currently with a 20-year projection, consecutively an estimate of the pavement condition index was made specifically in 14 units throughout the year. track section, and 9 Benkelman beam tests, the following tests were applied with the soil samples obtained: moisture content, granulometry, Atterberg limits, modified Proctor type “B” and CBR. For the first section from the abscissa 0+000 to the abscissa 2+000, a technical solution was established with a periodic level intervention since the state of the pavement in said section does not present a severe level of aggressiveness, contrary to the abscissa 2+000 to 4+200 an intervention was carried out at the road rehabilitation level, these decisions were made based on the visual and structural evaluation. As a result, in the case of periodic maintenance, the budget necessary to carry out all the interventions considered through various items is $62899.67 USD, and finally for road rehabilitation, a series of necessary items with an estimated value of $221138.72 USD were considered.

    Diseño geométrico de la vía comprendida entre Llimpe Grande y el Cerro los Llimpes pertenecientes a la parroquia la Matriz, cantón Quero, provincia de Tungurahua

    This project focuses on improving the road infrastructure of the Llimpe Grande Community to Cerro “Los Llimpes”, the latter an important tourist attraction in the Quero Canton. The objective is to solve transportation problems that affect local agriculture, livestock and tourism, thus promoting the socioeconomic development of the area, as well as of the Canton itself. The work was divided into three main phases. The first phase includes field activities such as delimitation of the area to intervene, topographic survey of the area, vehicle counting and extraction of soil samples. In the second phase, the geometric design of the road was carried out, among which we have the following parameters obtained based on regulations, these are horizontal, vertical and transversal designs, as well as the design of drainage works and the pavement structure. The third phase focused on the preparation of the reference budget. The visual results determined a clearly mountainous relief with quite steep slopes; the traffic study classified the road as class IV. The soil analysis revealed a silty sand type, suitable for subgrade. A pavement structure was designed with a 5 cm asphalt layer, a 10 cm base and a 20 cm subbase. The reference budget for the execution of the project was estimated at $2,144,191.38, a figure that will determine the viability of the work. This investment seeks to significantly improve connectivity, commerce and tourism in the town, contributing to the economic and social growth of the community.

    Diseño geométrico de la vía que une las comunidades San Ramón - Yawintza pertenecientes a la parroquia 16 de Agosto, cantón Palora, provincia de Morona Santiago

    In the province of Morona Santiago there are local roads that connect towns and require paved roads. That is why the objective of this technical work is the geometric and pavement design between the San Ramón and Yawintza communities with the 16 de Agosto parish head. The study area includes 5 kilometers of ballasted track. Soil was extracted from 8 pits to carry out soil mechanics tests with AASHTO, ASTM and SUCS regulations. At the site, the high-precision RTK topographic survey was carried out, progressively counting traffic for 7 days a week, the typical section of the project was determined based on the traffic study and we proceeded with the design of the flexible pavement structure using the AASHTO 93 regulations. The vertical and horizontal geometric design is based on current regulations MOP 2003 and NEVI 12, under CIVIL 3D design software. The minor works of art were designed based on the analysis of the vertical design and the hydrological study of the area of influence. Finally, the typical section of the project was determined for a Class IV Road, a terrain with flat terrain characteristics, the design speed of 60 kilometers per hour, and the flexible pavement structure with 5 centimeters of asphalt layer, 10 centimeters of base class 2, 10 centimeters of class 3 subbase.

    Análisis de las correlaciones entre el cbr, dcp, propiedades índice y mecánicas en suelos de las parroquias Saquisilí, Chantilín y Cochapamba, cantón Saquisilí, provincia de Cotopaxi

    Currently, in the Saquisilí canton, the database corresponding to index and mechanical properties of the soil is short, and it also has several ballasted roads that require paving. In order to find preparation equations and carry out a pre-design of flexible pavement for the benefit of the parishes of the Saquisilí canton and sectors with soils with similar characteristics. Within the study area there is a road corresponding to the Chantilín parish, a road in the Saquisilí parish and finally a road in the Cochapamba parish. A total of 12 pits were carried out in the study area. First, the DCP and Sand Cone tests were carried out in situ. Subsequently, 50 kilograms of soil sample was extracted from each pit to be tested in the laboratory and determine the index and mechanical properties. based on AASHTO, ASTM and SUCS standards, from which 29 correlations were derived, obtained with a degree of reliability greater than 50 percent; As a result, the structural pavement package was designed for a new road in the Chantilín parish with laboratory CBR, obtaining thicknesses of 7 cm for asphalt layer, 10 cm of base layer and 11 cm of subbase layer; On the other hand, with CBR to improve, thicknesses of 7 cm for asphalt layer, 11 cm of base layer and 12 cm of subbase layer will be obtained. Finally, the pavement predesign will benefit the inhabitants and surrounding areas of the Chantilín parish.

    Diseño geométrico de la vía que une los sectores Patoa de Vacas-Perpetuo Socorro e Isinche Santo Domingo, con el fin de mejorar la movilidad dentro del cantón Pujilí perteneciente a la provincia de Cotopaxi

    Due to the fact that the study road is not in adequate conditions for the mobilization of its inhabitants and therefore the commercialization of their products, this study was developed to improve the quality of life of the sector. The development of this project was deployed in the canton Pujilí belonging to the province of Cotopaxi in order to improve the road, for the geometric design work was conducted a study process of the current conditions of the road, which consisted of conducting a study process of the current conditions of the road, This consisted of a topographic survey, a vehicular traffic count, which allowed us to determine the future traffic that indicated the type of road, the calculations for the horizontal and vertical design, and the cross section elements that were developed according to the current regulations applied for the study, such as the MOP-2003. After that, we proceeded to obtain field samples, in order to analyze them in the laboratory, determining the characteristics of the soil according to its evaluation, the adequate thickness of each of the layers that make up the pavement structure, for this study we used the methodology of the AASHTO-93, in addition we made the referential budget for the execution of the project, establishing: the items, volumes of work and technical specifications.

    Análisis de las correlaciónes entre el CBR, DCP, las propiedades índices y mecánicas en los suelos de la parroquia Angamarca, cantón Pujilí, provincia de Cotopaxi

    En la provincia de Cotopaxi existen vías lastradas que unen localidades y requieren vías asfaltadas, la base de datos existente referente a propiedades índice y mecánicas del suelo es insuficiente. Es por ello que el presente trabajo experimental, tiene como objetivos ampliar la base de datos del suelo de la zona y determinar las correlaciones existentes de los suelos, siendo la principal correlación el ensayo California Bearing Ratio (CBR) y el ensayo Penetración Dinámica de Cono (DCP), debido a su incidencia directa en el diseño de pavimento flexible. El área de estudio comprende 4 vías ubicadas en la parroquia Angamarca del cantón Pujilí, provincia de Cotopaxi. Las vías que fueron objeto de estudio son de tercer orden elegidas estratégicamente. Se realizaron calicatas y se procedió con la extracción de 12 muestras de suelo representativo de la zona cada una de ellas de 50 kilogramos, en el sitio se procedió con los ensayos Cono de arena y DCP. Las muestras de suelo extraídas sirvieron para la determinación de las propiedades índices y mecánicas del suelo en laboratorio basados en las normas AASHTO, ASTM y SUCS. Los resultados fueron 25 correlaciones con un índice de correlación poisson mayor del 50 por ciento, siendo la correlación más importante la de 77 porciento correspondiente al ensayo DCP y CBR lo que indica un resultado aceptable. Finalmente, se diseñó el espesor del paquete estructural del pavimento con el método AASHTO 93. Obteniendo espesores de: capeta asfáltica 5 centímetros, base 10 centímetros y sub base 20 centímetros.

    Evaluación de las vías urbanas en el cantón Ambato del sector comprendido entre la av. El Carrizo, El Algarrobo, El Bambú, El Sauce, Los Álamos, El Chupo, Jambelí y av. De Los Capulíes

    Based on the lack of information on the physical condition of the road network in the canton of Ambato, this degree project used visual assessment through the Pavement Condition Index or PCI method and the MTOP standards to identify and analyze the condition of the roads in the Ficoa area in the city of Ambato and used RTK-10 equipment to obtain coordinates of each point of failure and thus create a georeferenced database of the road network. A thorough evaluation of the roads in the area was carried out, including the identification and classification of the pathologies present, including deformations, cracks and other forms of damage to the road surface and their severity, Coordinates were determined using RTK-10 equipment and a geo-referenced database of the road network was created using computer software that includes data on the location and condition of each road, as well as details on needed repairs or maintenance, and geographic information system (GIS) technology was used to map the roads and enter the information into the overall project database. At the end of the study, the databank will be delivered to the GAD Municipal de Ambato to facilitate access to detailed information on the condition of the roads and, with this, a road maintenance plan can be developed.
