Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2025-02) Caisaluisa Aimacaña, Lady Jazmin; Aldás Sánchez, Milton RodrigoSocial development and road safety are closely related to the quality and functionality of the road infrastructure, which must meet the appropriate technical requirements. This technical project focuses on addressing the challenges associated with the growth of vehicular flow on the Pillaro road, proposing a comprehensive solution based on the optimization of its geometric design. The main objective is to improve traffic conditions and reduce travel times for tourists using this route, thus contributing to the tourism and economic development of the region. In order to meet this objective, fundamental activities were carried out, such as a topographic survey using a high-precision GNSS system, an exhaustive analysis of vehicular traffic, and soil studies carried out in accordance with current regulations. These analyses were essential to determine the physical and mechanical characteristics of the terrain, crucial elements in the formulation of the design proposal. The optimization proposal includes both the geometric redesign of the road and the structural calculation of the pavement, incorporating these elements in an estimated budget and an execution schedule. A total road length of 4.875 km was established, along with a projected annual average daily traffic (ADAT) of 7805 vehicles/day for a design period of 20 years. This projection allowed the road to be classified as a Class 1 arterial road, in compliance with current regulations. As a result, the soil studies revealed a design CBR of 20.31 percent, qualifying the material as highly suitable for use as subgrade. Based on these results, the optimum thicknesses for the different layers of the road were determined: 7.5 cm for the asphalt layer, 15 cm for the base and 20 cm for the subbase, thus guaranteeing the durability and functionality of the road. In addition, a detailed economic analysis was carried out, estimating an execution budget of $1,467,274.83. This investment is intended to improve connectivity between the communities and the urban area, promoting economic development in the region. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2025-02) Razo Guevara, Angie Nicole; Aldás Sánchez, Milton RodrigoIn Ecuador, mainly in the rural sector, there are territories that do not have an adequate road structure, where inadequate geometric designs and the lack of flexible pavement structures are present, affecting the growth and development of communities such as Calamaca belonging to the rural parish of San Fernando, since communication turns out to be an important factor in the advancement of a community, fulfilling a social, economic and geostrategic role by influencing equal progress, where the absence of these civil works leads to the isolation of communities, increasing the gap of inequality and poverty between the urban and rural sectors. To this end, the topographic strip was surveyed using topographic equipment consisting of a drone and an RTK, in addition to the study of vehicle traffic from data obtained from the manual counting of vehicles over a period of seven consecutive days including Saturday and Sunday. Also, soil studies were carried out such as: natural moisture content, granulometric analysis, Atterberg limits (liquid limit and plastic limit), modified Proctor and CBR, with which the physical and mechanical properties of the subgrade were determined, in order to carry out the geometric design following the Ecuadorian MTOP and NEVI-12 regulations, in addition to the application of the AASHTO-93 standard for the design of the pavement structure, to finish with the preparation of a reference budget. As a result, a projected TPDA of 141 vehicles/day was defined for a design period of 20 years, classifying the road as a class IV highway. In addition, thicknesses of 5 cm of asphalt layer, 15 cm of base and 25 cm of subbase were determined, established based on the design CBR of 12.5 percent determined with the Asphalt Institute method. Finally, the reference budget of $1,509,526.12 was established, obtained from the Unit Price Analysis of 13 items.Item Diseño geométrico de la vía comprendida entre Llimpe Grande y el Cerro los Llimpes pertenecientes a la parroquia la Matriz, cantón Quero, provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato.
