In the laboratories of the faculty there is a broken induction furnace, which needs improvements in its cooling system to be operational and contribute in the area of manufacturing processes. In this research, the cooling system of the induction furnace for low-capacity aluminum smelting was upgraded to ensure efficiency and improve the durability of the equipment in order to ensure an efficient smelting process. The parameters evaluated included volumetric flow, temperature and water pressure, even though the furnace had a minimum capacity for aluminum alloys and operated at 7 kW power with specific voltages. Calculations were detailed: chiller selection, circulation pump specifications, water storage tank size, including infrastructure needs for furnace portability and water recirculation system, plans and a comprehensive budgeting scheme were developed as part of this integrated approach. As a result there was the improvement of the cooling system through water recirculation, eliminating direct waste in the drains and improving the casting processes in the laboratories of FICM, this initiative takes into account that the induction furnace significantly exceeds the heat production time compared to the times of a gas burner that takes 240 minutes, while the induction furnace 5 minutes, reaching thermal loads of 139348.62 J with a volumetric flow of 2,735 L/min.

The repowering of the packaging system of the bottle packing machine was carried out for several reasons, such as the presence of rust in the metal structures, lack of process optimization and oversizing of mechanical elements, resulting in a malfunction of the machine. The technical project began with the inspection of the current state of the machine, of the mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems, determining by visual, manual and bibliographic inspection, the state of each component and by means of operation tests, the aspects to improve with the repowering were found, improving the operation of the process and reducing times, implementing more adequate, feasible and current mechanical elements to the technology that allowed improving its performance to a great extent and adding versatility to the process. A new semi-automatic control system was programmed based on the programming of logic controllers, together with its electric board, and diagrams of the required electrical connection of control and power were elaborated. New elements necessary for the correct execution of the new mechanical elements were also designed and adapted, greatly improving the functionality of the machine. The optimal configuration parameters used in the comparative production tests of the repowered machine and the original one were determined, a reduction of seven seconds in the time required for the process was evidenced, and the machine was adapted to work at different speeds with a greater number of units per package.

The technical work developed arises from the need to optimize time in the final polishing of metallographic specimens from the materials laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering career. Since the process is done manually which takes time when making metallographic analysis. It is for this reason that the polishing machine was repotended, for the elaboration of this work the standard ASTM E 3-01 standard guide for the preparation of metallographic samples was used, then the mechanical components of the rotating head, of the clamping disk of samples, cooling and drainage system. Complementing simulations in specialized software. Once the design of the mechanical components was carried out, the construction and assembly of this mechanism was developed according to the aforementioned parameters. Once the machine was built, a representative time reduction was obtained in the polishing of the sample, contributing to the development of laboratory practices of material.
