Item Diseño y construcción de una máquina para la fabricación de resortes helicoidales de ½’’ y 1’’ de diámetro interior.(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Among these, cargo vehicles play a crucial role in commercialization, generating a high demand for specific components, such as springs. These mechanical elements are widely used across different industries, particularly in the automotive sector. However, in Ecuador, spring manufacturing processes are typically handmade and lack technical design criteria, making it difficult to meet the growing demand for precision and quality. In response to this challenge, a machine was designed and built for the manufacture of helical springs with inner diameters of 1/2 inch and 1 inch. The objective was to modernize the process and improve production efficiency. Appropriate design parameters were researched, engineering software was utilized for development, and unctional tests were conducted to validate the machine's performance. The study employed an applied methodology that included the selection of mechanical elements, comparisons with existing models, and technical calculations to ensure optimal safety factors. As a result, a machine was developed that can manufacture custom springs with precise measurements tailored to the requirements of the automotive sector, which represents the highest demand. The primary contribution of this project is its support for the growth of Ecuador’s industrial sector by introducing innovative technologies that enhance traditional manufacturing processes. Furthermore, it highlights the practical application of engineering knowledge to address real-world industrial challenges, fostering efficiency and development in the country’s manufacturing sector.Item Diseño de un generador de flujo para un dispositivo de asistencia respiratoria de presión positiva de dos niveles (BIPAP)(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2024-02) Bayas Altamirano, Josue Edmundo; Núñez Núñez, Diego FernandoNowadays, the need for medical equipment for the treatment of respiratory diseases is growing more and more and the state’s expenditure for the acquisition of the same is very large, so the objective of designing the flow generator of the respiratory assistance devices such as BiPAP; opens the way to be able to manufacture ours at national level thus reducing the budget for the acquisition of these. The Technical Project focused on the design of the generator under conventional parameters of operation, this implies the development of the flow system and the control system in charge of supplying positive pressure with a driver of speed variation of the centrifugal ventilator together with a programmable control board, for the configuration of the treatment that the patient needs; the selection of the manufacturing materials and elements necessary for its operation was carried out. The behavior of the flow generator was analyzed by means of a multiphysical computational analysis, this was very useful since it allowed us to establish the operating range of the device, for the development of the manufacturing and assembly process. As a result, a virtual mock-up was created with all the information about the design process, including all the parameters contemplated in the design process of the flow generator, simulation results, manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings. Resulting in a solid project that is ready to be put into test operation.Item Optimización del proceso y tiempos en la elaboración de bancas en la empresa Siderúrgica Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2021-08) Mejía Tustón, Bryan Marcelo; Arroba Arroba, César HernánFor this project, a time and process optimization’s proposal was made for a company called Siderúrgica Tungurahua S.A in Ambato city, In order to achieve this, a new metodology’s approach has been made and for starting, it has been stablished a current diagnosis of the situation and after analyzing it, the improvement proposal has been presented. First, an evaluation of all the activities that are made in the current process was needed so all the actions generated in the production area and their duration were registered, this helped to start the time’s study in which the real duration is known and later, a time standar could be determinated and it will be stablished as a referential duration for each process, by doing this the employees’ permormance will be assessed. After this, the new strategies which main goals are to change and remove the needless functions are stablished and these strategies looks for coding the equipment,machinary and raw materials that the company has in order to make it easier when they have to make an inventory. Finally, an activies’ standardization was stablished in which all employees will know their functions from the beginning to end and in this way delays will be prevented. This will be reached by showing the employees schematics, diagrams and flowcharts, which will help to modify the previous time registered and with all of this, all the goals stablished in this investigation will be achieved.Item Estudio de la calidad superficial de la película seca de pintura en las carretillas mediante el proceso de detección de discontinuidades (HOLIDAYS), en la empresa I.M.ESCO de la ciudad de Ambato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2019) Tirado Torres, Carlos Daniel; Guamanquispe Toasa, Jorge PatricioThe experimental work is about the study of the application process of monolayer powder electrostatic coating, in the smooth surface of the wheelbarrow components of the I.M.ESCO company and it was compared with the same process but in rough surface. The coating used is of hybrid epoxy-polyester type, in scarlet red color and the smooth surface preparation is carried out by means of a chemical wash with deoxidizer, while in order to obtain a rough surface, it was complemented with a cleaning by means of sand blasting using mineral grit, based on the code SSPCSP10. Witness plates were used for the control of the paint film surface quality; in the case of thickness measurement, five spots were established with three measuring points in each case, while for the adhesion control by cross-hatching two sets of lines were made, which are cut at right angles to obtain a plot of 36 squares; For the test by hydraulic thrust, dollies were placed on the control plate, which were detached by the pressure. Regarding the detection of the holidays, a micro-hole detector equipment was used that was used directly on the surface of the wheelbarrow components. It was determined that the most suitable electrostatic painting process to achieve a high level of surface quality of the dry film of paint in the wheelbarrow is achieved by preparing the surface with a chemical wash with phosphatizing deoxidizer and abrasive sand blasting with mineral shot, with a curing mechanism convertible by melting in a drying oven for 10 minutes.Item Aplicabilidad de un material compuesto con matriz polimérica reforzado con fibras de planta de mora (Rubus Glaucus) en partes interiores de carrocerías de la industria carrocera de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2017) Balladares Pazmiño, Morayma de los Ángeles; Espín Lagos, Segundo ManuelThe present research is based on the experimentation of a composite material with polymer matrix and reinforced with blackberry plant fiber. This type of fiber is proposed, due to that the Tungurahua province has a planted area of 3,673 hectares of this plant, which are pruned monthly and its agricultural wastes are burned because there is no application for them, producing large amounts of CO2 that contaminates the environment, for that reason the fiber that was used as a reinforcing material was obtained from these agricultural wastes. Were fabricated test tubes with different configurations, volumetric fractions and manufacturing process, which were tested under some policies like ASTM D3039 for tensile strength, ASTM D7268 for flexion and ASTM D5628-10 for impact, in order to obtain mechanical properties such as modulus of elasticity, maximum stress (pulling and flexion), flexural modulus and maximum impact strength or absorbed energy. From the study, it was determined by statistical analysis that group 6, formed by 70 % of polymer matrix and 30 % of reinforcement of blackberry plant fiber showed better characteristics, having a tensile strength equal to 18.62 MPa, resistance at bending equal to 46.9 MPa and absorbed energy equal to 1.2156 J. Accordingly, the hypothesis raised in this research is accepted and therefore the composite material accomplish with the minimum mechanical properties required in the internal componentes of bodywork industry bodies.Item Estudio del proceso de soldadura GMAW con alambre ER70S-3 y er70s-6 en el proceso de fabricación de carrocerías utilizando perfiles conformados de acero galvanizado ASTM A-924m para determinar la defectología en las juntas soldadas en la empresa Carrocerías Fiallos(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2015-01) Sánchez Jiménez, Eduardo Salvador; Arroba Arroba, César HernánLa presente investigación está orientada al análisis de los recubrimientos cerámico-metálicos proyectados térmicamente por el proceso de proyección térmica de alta velocidad HVOF, en asientos de válvulas API-600, donde se determina parámetros de dureza bajo la Norma ASTM 18-03 en escala Rockwell C y parámetros desgaste abrasivo aplicados a los 3 tipos de recubrimientos planteados, bajo la Norma ASTM G65-04 mediante el Procedimiento A que se detalla ampliamente en este estudio. Los Recubrimientos fueron sometidos a pruebas de dureza y desgaste para determinar cuál es el que presenta mejores propiedades, presentándose con mejores resultados el recubrimiento de carburo de tungsteno en base de cobalto (Wc – Co), que presentó una dureza media de 64,7 HRc respecto a los demás recubrimientos; además elevó la dureza del sustrato en un 110%. Se determinó los parámetros desgaste abrasivo, donde sobresale el recubrimiento (Wc – Co), con pérdidas de Volumen que bordean 789,368 mm3 y una resistencia al desgaste de 859,394 (gr/m)-1 de igual manera sobresale con mejores propiedades respecto al sustrato y los demás recubrimientos planteados. Finalmente se elaboró un procedimiento de evaluación de dureza y desgaste abrasivo del Recubrimiento (WC – Co) bajo la norma ASTM G-65-04 mediante el método “A”, para disponer de una guía didáctica que permita realizar correctamente los ensayos de abrasión.
