This research focused on analyzing identity and its impact on the mental health of children and adolescents at the "General Rumiñahui" Educational Unit. The study arose from the identification of problems evidenced in the data obtained, which revealed manifestations of insecurity, difficulties in self-perception, doubts about personal abilities, emotional vulnerability, and the presence of emotions associated with anxiety and sadness that influence the students' holistic development. Methodologically, a quantitative, descriptive, and correlational study was conducted, applying a survey to 63 students using validated instruments such as the Identity Development Scale for Young University Students and the Positive Mental Health Scale. The main results showed that parenting styles, emotional support, communication, and family support significantly influenced personal security, self-esteem, and emotional stability. Furthermore, insecurity, difficulties with self-concept, and emotional vulnerability were identified as limiting identity consolidation. Furthermore, the research revealed manifestations of anxiety, sadness, and difficulties in emotional regulation; however, students with greater socio-emotional skills, coping abilities, and family support showed higher levels of self-esteem, decision-making capacity, and healthy interpersonal relationships. The study concluded that identity and mental health are closely linked and interdependent processes, where strengthening a solid identity fosters the development of emotional, social, and personal skills, highlighting the need to implement preventive strategies and interventions from a social work perspective aimed at strengthening students' emotional well-being and holistic development

This research study analyzes the relationship between Machiavellianism and cyberbullying in adolescents, considering that both issues have gained significant relevance today due to the constant use of social media and digital platforms by young people. The interest in conducting this study arises from the need to understand how certain personality traits, characterized by manipulation, self-interest, lack of empathy, and control over others, may influence the emergence of aggressive behaviors within virtual environments. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design. For data collection, surveys were administered to adolescents within the educational context, using instruments that made it possible to identify both the levels of Machiavellianism and the different manifestations of cyberbullying present in the studied population. The study is framed within the psychosocial and educational field of Social Work, focusing on issues that affect coexistence, social interaction, and the emotional well-being of adolescents. The importance of this research lies in the fact that it provides relevant information about the influence of certain personality traits on the dynamics of digital violence. In addition, the results obtained make it possible to propose prevention and intervention strategies aimed at strengthening socio-emotional skills, promoting healthy relationships, and building safer digital coexistence within educational institutions.

The present research, titled “The Statute of Limitations in Criminal Actions for Sexual Offenses Committed by Juvenile Offenders: Analysis of Ruling No. 15-19-CN and Related Cases”, is based on the urgent need to clarify the normative contradiction between the constitutional principle of the non-applicability of statutory limitations to sexual crimes committed against children and adolescents—as recognized in Article 46, paragraph 4 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador—and the provisions of Article 334A of the Code of Childhood and Adolescence, which establishes a general statute of limitations of five years for crimes committed by adolescents, without distinguishing the severity of the offense. This legal dissonance not only creates a clear risk of impunity but also leads to inconsistent judicial interpretations. In this context, the study aims to carry out a critical legal analysis of this normative tension with the purpose of identifying interpretative alternatives that ensure the coherence of the legal system and the effective protection of victims’ rights. To this end, the central focus of the analysis will be Ruling No. 15-19-CN and Related Cases-22 issued by the Constitutional Court of Ecuador, as it constitutes a key precedent in the field of children's and adolescents’ rights. Nevertheless, the Court's ruling revealed divided interpretations regarding the non-applicability of statutory limitations in sexual offenses committed by juvenile offenders, which resulted in a decision with limited scope and generated uncertainty in the practical application of the law. This situation highlights the need for a deeper analysis to help consolidate a coherent and rights-based legal framework

The objective of the present study was to determine the influence of authoritarian parenting on emotional intelligence in adolescents at the “Salcedo” Educational Unit, understanding this relationship as a psychosocial phenomenon that directly affects young people's ability to identify, comprehend, and regulate their emotions. Through a quantitative approach and the participation of 130 students, the results revealed a significant reality: the Chi-square test showed a significant association between both variables, evidencing those adolescents exposed to a rigid, imposing parenting style with low affective warmth exhibit greater difficulties in emotional attention, clarity, and regulation. The results indicate that strict control behaviors, scarce communication, and inflexible rules prevail within the family environment, elements that limit socio-emotional development and generate tensions that affect the adolescent's psychological well-being. The theoretical foundation led to the conclusion that parenting models based on excessive control and a lack of warmth restrict autonomy, causing adolescents to struggle with validating and expressing their feelings, which affects their confidence and independence. Upon analyzing the consequences, it was found that those young people exposed to this punitive discipline present lower levels of emotional intelligence, which translates into greater vulnerability to stress, anxiety, behavioral problems, and academic performance affected by their affective instability. Finally, in identifying risk factors, the study highlighted that the deterioration in emotional clarity and scarce empathy in the home are the most critical elements; when not listened to, young people learn to repress rather than manage. In essence, this work demonstrates that authority without emotional connection leaves adolescents vulnerable, evidencing the urgency of transitioning towards more humane and democratic parenting models that balance discipline with social adaptation and psychological well-being

The present study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of video games (UVJ) and socioemotional skills (HSE) in adolescents from the Unidad Educativa “Pedro Fermín Cevallos” in the city of Ambato, Ecuador. UVJ, understood as an interactive activity that combines cultural, cognitive, and social elements, has gained relevance in youth development, with potential to foster competencies such as empathy and emotional regulation, or, in extreme cases, generate isolation and affective dysregulation. HSE, on the other hand, refers to the ability to manage emotions, resolve conflicts, and facilitate communication, essential for interpersonal and academic well-being. The methodological approach was quantitative, allowing an objective measurement of UVJ presence and its impact on HSE. Validated instruments such as the IGD-20 and the Socioemotional Skills Questionnaire for School Mediation (CHSE) were applied, under a cross-sectional correlational design. The sample consisted of 163 students from first, second, and third year of high school, selected from a population of 420. The results indicate that 66.9% of participants show a low level of UVJ, 31.9% moderate, and only 1.2% high. In HSE, 71.2% show a moderate level, with strengths in conflict management and weaknesses in communication and emotional regulation. Correlation analyses reveal a very weak and negative relationship between UVJ and HSE (ρ = -0.107; p = 0.173), indicating the absence of significant influence. In conclusion, UVJ does not represent a determining risk factor for HSE when balanced, making it necessary to raise awareness about responsible technology use in educational contexts to foster socioemotional competencies in adolescents

This research focuses on a phenomenon that significantly affects the emotional well-being of adolescents: social anxiety. The study was conducted at the Cotopaxi Province Educational Unit, with the overall objective of analyzing this problem from a social work intervention perspective, seeking to understand its causes, effects, and possible approaches within the educational context. Through a mixed approach, quantitative and qualitative techniques were integrated. The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale was applied to provide a diagnostic basis, and semi-structured interviews were conducted to gain insight into the adolescents' direct experiences. Beyond measuring levels, the study delved into the factors that cause social anxiety, how it affects their daily lives, and the role that social work can play in addressing this reality. The results revealed that many adolescents face difficulties in public life, expressing themselves confidently, or relating to their peers due to experiences such as fear of rejection, low self-esteem, overprotectiveness in their families, school conflicts, or a lack of emotional support. Theoretically, the psychodynamic model was used, which allowed us to understand how early experiences and emotional bonds influence the formation of identity and social relationships. On the other hand, the ecological model facilitated the analysis of the adolescent's environment, such as family, school, and community, as part of a network that can positively or negatively influence their socioemotional development. These findings highlight the need to promote social work intervention strategies focused on emotional support, the creation of safe spaces for expression, the strengthening of social skills, and coordination with families, teachers, and specialized professionals. These recommendations seek to contribute to more comprehensive and humane care for adolescents facing social anxiety within the educational system.

Currently, adolescents face multiple conflictive situations that can affect or strengthen their level of resilience, the constant changes in family, educational and social dynamics generate a significant impact on the behavior of adolescents, causing them to modify their perception of the future, move away from the search for personal improvement and opt for more complex lifestyles, because resilience manifests itself differently at each stage of life, as a result of physical and psychological changes, adolescents adopt behaviors that exposed to multiple risks. This research aims to analyze resilience in adolescents from the public and private educational sector of the Salcedo Educational Unit and the GRAL Eloy Alfaro Educational Unit. In this sense, the methodology adopted a quantitative approach, of a descriptive, analytical-synthetic and comparative nature, where the JJ46 questionnaire by Alvarán et al (2023) was used to study the variable, composed of 46 items divided into 8 dimensions, which was applied to a sample of 288 adolescents, aged between 12 and 17 years, divided equally between the public and private educational sectors. The results indicated that resilience in adolescents in the public and private educational sector reflects a moderate capacity to face adversity, characterized by a medium level of resilience. This ability is supported by family support, self-esteem, creativity and behavior management, which act as key indicators that allow adolescents to identify negative patterns with greater awareness and control, on the other hand, although no significant differences are observed Between both educational sectors, resilience manifests itself in a diverse way, depending on the context of each population, which indicates that the majority of adolescents belonging to the two educational sectors have skills to overcome obstacles and face challenges.

The thesis project aimed to investigate the relationship between Social Pedagogy and Social Work Intervention in adolescents, since education has undergone significant changes to contribute to the demands of new educational contexts. Consequently, it is estimated that the two sciences can work together to address the social and emotional problems of adolescents. In this way, the development of essential competencies in social and civic participation is promoted, as well as fostering values of inclusion and equality. Instruments were constructed to measure each variable in the study, and the data obtained were analysed using Pearson's correlation statistic for parametric data. The results reveal a moderate and positive correlation (r=0.507; p-value=0.000), supporting the hypothesis that an increase in Social Pedagogy could be linked to greater effectiveness in Social Work interventions. The integration of social pedagogy strengthens social interventions, in line with Bermúdez (2008) and Ocampo (2008) who highlight the need for holistic training for social workers. Updated pedagogical methods adapted to individual differences form the basis of participatory knowledge of adolescents (Cedeño and Mantilla, 2022; Reyes, 2020; Goulart, 2022). In addition, Social Pedagogy empowers students to solve socio-educational problems in innovative ways (Fantova, 2018; Marsh and Cooper, 2019). This approach helps adolescents to develop pro-social competences and to fully integrate into the community (Vargas and Alarcón, 2021). In conclusion, the research underlines the positive impact of Social Pedagogy in the training of social workers, promoting a more active and effective participation in the community. It highlights the need to continue investing in values education and social interaction skills to prepare students to face contemporary challenges in the field of Social Work

With this study, the objective was to analyze the opinions of adolescents between 15 and 18 years old on gender stereotypes and the use of contraceptive methods. To this end, a descriptive questionnaire-type research design was carried out in which two surveys were developed and administered, one for each variable to a control list, to a sample of 152 students from the Huambaló educational unit. The SPSS statistical analysis program was used to analyze the data and obtain results and then frequencies and percentages presented in graphs and tables. The results obtained have indicated the normalization of stereotypical visions among students, where the dimensions of physical, emotional and social behavior are the most significant. The opinions of men stand out in such a large proportion that they clearly support and propagate these opinions, but they also ignore the results obtained by women because in many cases they support these beliefs and attitudes. There is a significant correlation (p<0.05) between the level of knowledge of the students, which means that they appear as two factor variables with moderate correlation strength. What's more, those who do most MAC users have reached the excellent level, while non-MAC users have reached the average level. Finally, it is recommended to improve the sexual education program by reaching awareness and development of information in adolescents. In addition, it is necessary to integrate students with parents regarding knowledge of contraceptive methods, so that security and confidence are strengthened and not There are no limits or harms that affect beliefs
