Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial. This study was conducted at Ariana Ropa Interior, where deficiencies were identified related to a lack of order, cleanliness, standardization, and visual control in the production process. These issues led to unnecessary movements, extra processing, quality defects, and internal transport that impacted operational efficiency. The objective was to develop a 5S audit system as a Lean tool to reduce waste in the manufacture of underwear based on code A21. The methodology employed integrated bibliographic, field, and applied research through direct observation, process mapping, layout analysis, VSM, photographic records, checklists, 5S audits, and quantification of waste before and after implementation. As an initial result, the 5S audit showed an overall compliance rate of 18%, indicating a critical level of organization. Subsequently, with the application of tools such as red cards, signage, area demarcation, batch labels, a cleaning plan, visual standards, and an audit checklist, compliance increased to 84%. Similarly, unnecessary movements and extra processing decreased from 251 to 47 minutes per month, defects dropped from 24 to 6 garments, rework was reduced from 98 to 26 minutes per month, and internal transport fell from 2,641 to 1,444 meters per month. It is concluded that the 5S audit system made it possible to reduce waste, improve process order, and establish a sustainable foundation for continuous improvement.Item type:Ítem, Herramientas de manufactura esbelta en el área de corte de la empresa Corporación Impactex Cía. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial. The purpose of this research project is to propose the application of lean manufacturing tools in the cutting department of Corporación Impactex Cía. Ltda., a company dedicated to the manufacture and sale of underwear and sportswear. The study employs direct observation, an interview with the cutting supervisor, time and motion studies, an analytical flowchart, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM). Using ABC analysis, men’s boxer briefs were selected for the study as they are the product with the highest turnover. It was determined that the total standard time for the process is 881.65 minutes per batch of 480 dozen, with the layout stage having the greatest impact on the production flow. In addition, 30 activities were identified across the planning and layout, spreading, cutting, sorting, and packaging stages, where the main sources of waste were determined: unnecessary movements (68 percent), waiting (21 percent), defects (5 percent), and unnecessary activity (5 percent). Based on these results, improvement proposals are put forward using Kanban methodologies to reduce waiting time, 5S to minimize unnecessary movements, Kamishibai to control defects, and Kaizen to eliminate unnecessary weighing. The proposed VSM sets the total batch time at 862.44 min, equivalent to a 2.18 percent reduction, which contributes to a more organized, continuous, and productive process in the cutting area. Maestría en Producción y Operaciones IndustrialesThe purpose of this project was to optimize the productivity of the dog biscuit production line at Soguar S.A. through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools. The initial diagnosis, based on a time study and Value Stream Mapping (VSM), revealed critical deficiencies in the manual rolling and baking process (53 minutes), which prevented the company from meeting market demand and increased operating costs. The proposal was based on four pillars: the application of the 5S methodology to standardize the work environment, achieving a compliance level of 90%; the implementation of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) plan in the oven to reduce its operating cycle to 38 minutes; the adoption of the Jidoka principle by incorporating a semi-automatic extruder to eliminate the bottleneck in rolling; and the redesign of the operational flow towards a more synchronized model. The quantitative results show a substantial improvement in the production process: production capacity increased by 76%, from 80000 g to 140800 g per shift. Likewise, lead time was reduced by 47.91% (from 4.3 to 2.24 days). From a financial perspective, the proposal demonstrated high viability with a 27.45% reduction in production costs and an investment recovery period of approximately three months. This allows the organization not only to stabilize its operation, but also to project a competitive and sustainable commercial expansion.Item type:Ítem, Herramientas Lean Manufacturing para la reducción de desperdicios en la empresa de calzado Holger Pilco(2026-01) ;Guamán Vargas Bryan Joel ;Sánchez Rosero Carlos HumbertoUniversidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería IndustrialThis research aimed to analyze the manufacturing process of the Clau school shoe model at the company Holger Pilco, with the purpose of identifying the main operational wastes and establishing an improvement plan based on Lean Manufacturing tools. The first stage involved a comprehensive diagnosis of the current production conditions through the development of a Value Stream Map (VSM), workflow analysis, and time measurements for each operational stage. The results revealed a total production time of 104.71 minutes per pair and an operational travel distance of 83.84 meters, as well as the presence of significant waiting times, unnecessary movements, and work-in-progress inventories. Additionally, it was determined that all standard times exceeded the takt time of 6.86 minutes per pair, identifying the Assembly (Montaje) process as the main bottleneck with 37.29 minutes per pair, which disrupts synchronization across the entire production line. In the second stage, a weighted selection method was applied to determine the most appropriate Lean tools, identifying 5S, Poka-Yoke, Standardization, and SMED as the most suitable for addressing the root causes of operational imbalance, task variability, and human errors. Finally, an operational plan was developed, structured with activities, responsible personnel, required resources, and monitoring indicators for each tool, including checklists, diagrams, and control formats that support their implementation. This plan constitutes a practical guideline aimed at reducing waste, improving workflow efficiency, and promoting the gradual adoption of a continuous improvement culture within the company.Item type:Ítem, Metodología Lean Manufacturing en los procesos productivos de la empresa Discoint(2025-07) ;Paucar Alomoto Edison Javier ;Escobar Naranjo Juan CamiloUniversidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería IndustrialThis research project focused on analyzing and reducing Lean waste in the production processes of DISCOINT, a food machinery manufacturing company. Relevant inefficiencies were identified in critical areas such as Design and Development, Production and Assembly, which affected the timely delivery of products and increased operating costs. To address this problem, the 1-liter oil sleeving machine was selected as the reference product, identified through an ABC analysis of sales for the year 2024 as the one with the highest demand. A detailed survey of the processes was carried out, applying the back-to-zero timing method to measure times and build the Current Value Flow Map, in order to visualize the activities that do not add value. The results showed that the most frequent wastes correspond to waiting times with 46% of occurrence, rework with 31% and unnecessary movements with 8%, totaling 14 hours and 41 unproductive minutes. The main causes of these inefficiencies were identified through Ishikawa diagrams, showing delays in the delivery of materials, multiple revisions of drawings and disorder in the work environment. Through a technical literature review using the PRISMA methodology, Lean Manufacturing tools adapted to the company's context were selected: KANBAN to reduce waiting times through visual control of inputs, process standardization to reduce rework by establishing clear and documented methods, and 5S to eliminate unnecessary movements by organizing and cleaning the work area. To facilitate their application, specific manuals were prepared for each tool, aligned with DISCOINT's operational needs, with the aim of optimizing processes, improving coordination between areas and fostering a culture of continuous improvement oriented towards efficiency and quality.Item type:Ítem, Modelo lean manufacturing para la eliminación de desperdicios en la empresa Curtiembre Aldas(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2025-02) ;Peñafiel Ibarra Juan CarlosOrtiz Guerrero Daysi MargaritaThis project presents a proposal for implementing Lean Manufacturing methodology at Curtiembre Aldas, located in the Tungurahua province of Ecuador. The company specializes in transforming cattle hides into finished leather for footwear and clothing. The main focus of this proposal is to eliminate non-value-adding activities, targeting key wastes such as unnecessary movements, excessive transport, and waiting times. Through the use of Lean tools, these issues within the company were addressed effectively. The research suggests the application of the 5S methodology to improve workstations by introducing manuals and systems for order and cleanliness. This approach aims to minimize time lost searching for tools or cleaning equipment, resulting in a significant 35.6% improvement compared to the company’s initial performance. As part of the SMED methodology implementation proposal, internal activities were converted into external ones, effectively organizing the necessary tools and equipment at the workstations. This led to reduced machine changeover times: from 25.83 minutes to 15.11 minutes on the splitting machine, from 68.44 minutes to 46.54 minutes on the trimming machine, and from 31.42 minutes to 19.06 minutes on the fleshing machine. Following the implementation of both methodologies, noticeable improvements were achieved in the production processes of Curtiembre Aldas, particularly in the ribera area.Item type:Ítem, Análisis de metodología lean manufacturing para el mejoramiento de la productividad en el proceso productivo del calzado en industria Vecachi(Universidad Técnica de Ambato.
