Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil., 2025-02) Caguana Lagua, Hugo Fernando; Cañizares Proaño, Byron GenaroThis project focuses on the evaluation of the current state of the roads in the urban area of the Constantino Fernández parish in the Ambato canton, included in zone 12, identifying the worn areas and responding to the problem of deterioration of the road infrastructure. Because over time the roads have been deteriorating and an adequate maintenance plan is not developed for the benefit of the community. In this project, a visual inspection of the roads belonging to the designated area was carried out, where it was determined what type of tread layer each of the roads has, collecting data through technical sheets and, continuing with the study, a georeferenced planimetric survey was carried out with the GNSS RTK HI-TARGET V200 equipment and with a DJJ MAVIC AIR 2S DRONE considering the extension of each of the roads under analysis. Based on the ASTM D6433-03 standard and with the PCI method, we identified the types of faults that the roads present, quantifying their severity and allowing us to establish whether the road requires maintenance or reconstruction; when considering a reconstruction, the TPDA was carried out, and soil samples were collected and the necessary tests were carried out in order to determine a new pavement design using the AASHTO 93 standard method. As a result, it was determined that adequate maintenance of the roads in zone 12 of the Constantino Fernández parish must be provided, and a reference budget was developed with items obtained for each type of fault found on the different roads, information that will be delivered to the GAD Municipality of Ambato so that it can make decisions about maintenance or reconstruction of the roads based on the information received, and that it will be a contribution for the benefit of the community in conjunction with the Technical University of Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Cárdenas Llumitasig, Luigui Fernando; Chérrez Gavilanes, Diego SebastiánThis research project is based on the lack of conservation management of the old PanAmerican Highway E35 in the Lasso sector; the road has different anomalies in the pavement, which, if not maintained in a timely manner, would cause inconveniences to the population of the sector. In the study of the structure of the wearing course, a georeferenced survey of the road was carried out with the help of GNSS RTK HI-TARGET V30 equipment, a volumetric traffic count, evaluation of the physical components present on the road, field and laboratory tests to determine the pavement structure and soil composition, and a visual inspection to determine the level of damage to the wearing course and its structural behavior. These analyses made it possible to determine the traffic performance of the road, classifying it as an RI - RII (2) Arterial Corridor. The average CBR was also calculated at 66.6 percent, which classifies it as good, suitable for base use. The soil composition shows a high content of poorly graded sands, a wearing course that is rated as good with an average PCI (Pavement Condition Index) score of 64.65 points. The Benkelman beam shows Type I deflections, which correspond to adequate structural behavior. As a result, a conservation plan for the road is proposed based on the current damages evaluated in the structure of the wearing course, offering solutions for a correct rehabilitation, conservation and maintenance of the road. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-02) Ortega Ushiña, Henrry David; Aldás Sánchez, Milton RodrigoThe project focuses on addressing the need to evaluate the current state of urban roads in the canton of Ambato, in response to the growing problem of deterioration affecting its road infrastructure. The importance of maintaining an optimal level of road conditions stands out as a crucial element for the sustainable development of the city. This deterioration not only represents a challenge in terms of mobility and road safety, but also has a direct impact on the quality of life of citizens. In this study, a visual inspection of the wearing course was carried out in the urban area of the Ambato canton, using geo-referencing techniques through GPS points and considering the extension of each road in the analysis. ASTM D6433-03 standards, the Ecuadorian Road Standard and the article "Pathology of Articulated Pavements" were used as references to identify and evaluate the anomalies present in the roads; these guidelines served as a framework to categorize and quantify the irregularities, allowing the preparation of a referential budget. In addition, the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method was used to determine the condition of the roads in order to propose road maintenance strategies. As a result, this research will improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the sector and at the end of the evaluation a database will be delivered to the GAD Municipality of Ambato to use this information for the benefit of society, in a joint effort with the Technical University of Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-08) Tubón Sarmiento, Bryan Daniel; Frías Torres, Alex XavierThe Pelileo - Chiquicha road is of the utmost importance because it unites one of the parishes with the highest agricultural production within the canton and the province, with the urban area, an adequate maintenance of this road contributes to the extension of its useful life, for this a georeferenced survey, vehicle count, subgrade analysis and evaluation of the road surface was carried out. Using a GPS device, 627 points with coordinates were obtained, with which a modeling was carried out in suitable software. The vehicle count was carried out for 12 uninterrupted hours for seven days, data necessary for the calculation of the TPDA and TPDAf. According to NEVI-12, it is considered a 2-lane type C1 highway. To obtain the soil samples, 1 cubic meter test pit was made in the subgrade, one each 1+000 km abscissa, with which Granulometry, Atterberg Limits, Modified Proctor and CBR tests were carried out; obtaining gravel and clayey or silty sand A2-4 with a CBR of 16.28 percent, classifying the soil used within the "Fair - Good" range, suitable for Subgrade. The measurement of the deflection of the road surface was carried out with a Benkelman beam, having a satisfactory behavior of Type I. With the PCI method, 14 sampling units were carried out, obtaining a result of 70.06, evidencing a "Very Good" level road. Finally, a routine and periodic maintenance plan was proposed for the conservation of the surface layer structure with a budget of $14,144.53.Item Evaluación de las vías urbanas en el cantón Ambato del sector comprendido entre la calle Sócrates, av. Galo Vela Álvarez, calle Marco Tulio Cicerón, av. Real Audiencia de Quito(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-07) Pérez Usca, Luis Alberto; Aldas Sánchez, Milton RodrigoOne of the problems of the country's municipalities is not having updated information on the state of roads, so the Municipality of Ambato decided to carry out this macroproject in conjunction with the Technical University of Ambato through the Civil Engineering Career, in order to solve the problem it was decided to conduct a road diagnosis of the urban roads of the canton. In the present project, the evaluation of the road condition was carried out specifically in the sector between Socrates Street, Galo Vela Alvarez Avenue, Marco Tulio Cicero Street, Real Audiencia de Quito Avenue, belonging to the Ambato canton. With the use of cards based on the ASTM D6433-07 standard and together with specialized tools, the survey of each of the existing faults in the roads was carried out, and with the help of georeferencing software, each of the faults was represented with informative data such as dimensions, type of fault, degree of severity, photographic evidence and location of the fault. A Pavement Condition Index (PCI) was also performed to determine the condition of the main avenues in the project area, such as Galo Vela Avenue and Real Audiencia Avenue, and then a reference budget was established for their repair. At the end of the road evaluation project of the urban areas of Ambato, a database was delivered to the Municipality of Ambato so that it can be used for the benefit of the community. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-03) Domínguez Vargas, Wellington Andrés; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoThe Pelileo - Cotaló road serves as an alternative road to the city of Riobamba and moreover, it works as a link between the neighboring towns that base their economy on commerce and agriculture. A correct operation and high serviceability of the road facilitate this communication and exchange of products. For this reason, establishing a maintenance and conservation plan for its structure will allow us to extend its useful life. The first step of the project was the georeferenced survey of the road using a GPS device, obtaining 448 points, with which a georeferenced model was plotted. A vehicle control point was established, counting vehicles in 12-hour intervals during 7 consecutive days, values necessary for the TPDA and the Future Traffic projected to 20 years, obtaining that the study road according to the MOP is a Class I Arterial Corridor. To determine the bearing capacity of the soil, samples were extracted for analysis, resulting in the soil belonging to the fine sand group with an average CBR of 13.71 percent, which indicates that the soil used for subgrade is in the "Fair - Good" range. Using the PCI method, which was performed in 15 sampling units, a value of 82.6 was obtained, which means that the road has a satisfactory level. The behavior of the pavement structure was evidenced in the type I deflections, which indicate a satisfactory behavior. Finally, with all these preliminary studies, a routine road maintenance plan was proposed to recover the serviceability of the road and maintain it in good condition for future years.
