Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2024-08) Sánchez Figueroa, Ivette Carolina; Acosta Lozada, Rodrigo IvanWith the need to have an updated database and with it a road maintenance plan, this project was developed with the objective of obtaining updated information on the status of the roads that make up zone 16 in the city of Ambato. In this project, georeferenced data was collected using a Global Positioning System (GPS), as well as visual analysis of failures in road infrastructure. Technical sheets were used to collect the necessary data and calculate the condition of the roads using the pavement condition index (PCI) method, identifying the level of severity of the failures and evaluating the quality of the wearing course. In addition, a reference budget was prepared for each type of failure found, taking into account the items necessary for the maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks and curbs in the study area. This resulted in a series of failures found in the three types of pavements, the majority of medium and low severity, even so, with the calculation of the PCI it was established that there are good and very good classification roads, concluding that these roads need a periodic maintenance, all this was reflected in the database that was obtained with the record of all the faults found. In addition, a reference budget of $104,226.45 US dollars was estimated for the maintenance plan. This will be delivered by the Technical University of Ambato to the Municipal GAD of Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-09) Suntasig Padilla, Luis Miguel; Acosta Lozada, Rodrigo IvánThis project shows the need to evaluate the road conditions of the city of Ambato, since the road infrastructure has been affected by climate change and vehicular flow over the years, thus affecting the development of the economy, commerce, agriculture and tourism. In the first instance, a visual evaluation of the road surface was carried out to identify defects in the different types of pavements. To detect existing defects, an informative survey was carried out, recording the location of the defect, its type, dimension and degree of severity. These activities were carried out with manual GPS and accompanied by a technical sheet with detailed information on the defects and their severity, such severity was identified with the calculation of the PCI road condition index, in order to offer timely alternatives for road maintenance. Based on this evaluation, a reference budget was prepared for the restoration of the study area and then all the information was compiled in a database in order to provide greater utility to this project. After the evaluation of the roads, the database will be sent to the Municipal Directorate of Ambato Canton so that the information generated can be used for the benefit of the community as a collaboration of the Technical University of Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-07) Sánchez López, Walter Omar; Paredes Beltrán, Bolívar EduardoThe present experimental work focuses on the evaluation of the drinking water treatment plant in the Marcos Espinel parish, which has deficiencies in its operation and processing of the water that enters the WTP and supplies the population. During rainy weather conditions, the influent arrives saturated with material that the water treatment plant cannot process due to its limited capacity. As a result, valve closures occur, leading to a water shortage for the population. As a first step, a comprehensive information gathering was conducted, including the location, hydrography, and socio-economic activities. Information from reports generated by the Píllaro Municipal Government was collected, along with a diagnosis of the treatment units. Measurements of the influent and effluent flow rates were taken, and analyses of the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the incoming and outgoing water were performed. All water samples collected for these analyses were conducted following the NTE INEN 2 176:1998 standard, and transportation to the laboratories adhered to the NTE INEN 2 169:1998 standard. Based on the results obtained from the water analysis, a comparison is made with the guidelines established in the TULSMA 2015 regulations and the INEN 1108 standard. In light of the evaluation conducted on the water treatment plant, viable alternatives are proposed to provide a solution to the water treatment system, such as the implementation of a chlorination tank and a new sand remover. Julio Jaramillo Laurido, calle Carlos Rubira Infante, av. Luis Aníbal Granja, carretera panamericana (Troncal de la Sierra E 35)(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-03) Pilaguano Umaginga, Ángel Miguel; Cañizares Proaño, Byron GenaroThis project presents the need to evaluate the condition of the urban roads in the canton of Ambato, since the road infrastructure is affected over the years, being exposed to climate changes and traffic flow, which affects economic, commercial, agricultural and tourism development. First, a visual evaluation of the roads was made in order to determine the faults in the pavements. In order to identify the existing faults, a survey was carried out to record their location, type of fault, degree of severity and magnitude; the PCI methodology was also used to determine the condition of the roads that make up the perimeter. Within the study area, it was identified that there are failures in the flexible pavement and articulated pavement, where the most common ones in the flexible pavement are longitudinal and transverse cracks and patches, while in the articulated pavement the most common failures are vegetation on the roadway. With the faults found in the study area, a database was created in the ArcGIS program, in order to know the location and characteristics of one of the detected faultsItem Optimización y mejoramiento de la red de conducción de agua potable para los habitantes: Carmelitas, San Carlos y Nuevos Horizontes usuarios de la junta administradora de agua potable nuestra señora de la elevación de Santa Rosa del cantón Ambato provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Chacha Jumbo, Ronald Fabricio; Chuncha Simbaña, Víctor Efraín; Núñez Aldás, Galo WilfridoThis technical project is aimed at solving the problems of functioning and operation of the JAAPNSE conduction network, with this work is intended to ensure a constant water conduction service that improves the quality of life of users. To this purpose, we proceeded to evaluate the existing conduction system by applying a qualitative approach through observation cards that allowed recording the state of the conduction network components, as well as a quantitative approach mainly oriented to simulate the current network through hydraulic modeling software to obtain values of pressures, velocities and contrast them with the current Ecuadorian regulations; the evaluation allowed identifying the real operating conditions of the system. With this, the conduction network was redesigned based on the current operating problems, as well as a new design period, considering the parameters and recommendations established in the standards CPE INEN 5 PARTE 9-1:1992, CPE INEN 5 PARTE 9-2:1997 and the NORMAS DE DISEÑO DE SISTEMAS DE AGUA POTABLE – EMAAP-Q. As a result, a technical proposal was elaborated consisting of plans, calculation memory, reference budget, price analysis and technical specifications, these documents guarantee the correct construction process and functionality of the system that would benefit a total of 3646 people, with a horizon to the year 2052.Item Evaluación de la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales Quillalli II de la parroquia Quisapincha, cantón Ambato, provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Mora Altamirano, Dario Francisco; Morales Fiallos, Fabián RodrigoThe present experimental work was carried out in order to determine if the Wastewater Treatment Plant "Quillalli II", is operating and meets the percentage of removal expected according to its design. The methodology was based on research from bibliographic sources, the topographic survey of the units that make up the treatment train of the Quillalli II WWTP, volumetric capacity of the flow of entry and exit of the plant was also carried out and samples of the wastewater were taken for a physical-chemical and biological analysis; which allowed to raise two proposals, the first which consists of improving the units of the treatment train to treat the wastewater that reaches the WWTP, while the second proposes the design of new units for another treatment train and thus treat an additional flow constituted by the waters coming from three neighborhoods "Turuloma", "Calvario" and "San Pedro". As main results it was obtained that the Quillalli II WWTP enters a maximum hourly flow of 1.19lt / sec, sanitary medium of 0.44lt / sec, for the WWTP to work correctly a screening and two T pipes were designed in the sedimentation tank, however, to add a new flow it is proposed: a screening, a sand trap and larger dimensions of all the units that make up the WWTP, with a budget of $131702.07, excluding VAT, for a period of five months. Additionally, a valid operation and maintenance plan was designed for the two proposals. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-06) Laura Guerrero, Edwin Humberto; Navarro Peñaherrera, Carlos PatricioTo determine the seismic performance of the structure in its current state, a vulnerability analysis was performed by applying a qualitative and quantitative method. In the vulnerability analysis of the qualitative method, the rapid visual inspection technique described by FEMA 154 and NEC 2015 was used, taking into account the most relevant characteristics of the structure, the type of structural system, irregularities in plan and elevation, year and construction code, presenting a high vulnerability degree according to Fema 154 and a low vulnerability degree according to NEC 2015. In the quantitative analysis, a linear analysis was performed to know the structural behavior, where it was shown that they do not comply with the NEC 2015 standard, subsequently a non-linear static analysis was performed with the ATC-40 and FEMA-440 methodologies and where it was proven that the structure does not have enough capacity to reach the expected performance level according to the NEC 2015. With the results of the two methodologies, it was proposed the reinforcement at a global level with shear walls and at a local level with steel jacketing for beams and columns in order to ensure compliance with the performance levels. Finally, a comparison was made between the vibration periods obtained by the NEC-SE-DS methods and the period obtained by the empirical formulas based on environmental vibration studies, in order to relate the degree of vulnerability of the structure with the vibration periods.
