The road connecting Pujilí canton, specifically in the La Merced neighborhood, from kilometer 0+000 to kilometer 4+200, is in a considerable state of deterioration, negatively affecting both road safety and traffic flow. This situation poses an increasing risk to users and hinders efficient transportation in the area, making it imperative to implement corrective actions. To address this, a comprehensive road maintenance and conservation plan has been developed. This plan includes a detailed analysis of vehicular traffic, a superficial and structural evaluation of the pavement, a proposal for a pavement structure tailored to current and future needs, and the preparation of a referential budget. According to the vehicular traffic study, the Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) is recorded at 1,841 vehicles per day, with a projected increase to 3,398 vehicles per day by 2044, highlighting the urgency of immediate intervention. Additionally, the pavement evaluation revealed an average Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 58, indicating irregular conditions that necessitate maintenance. The plan proposes specific interventions for the identified sections, including milling and cleaning of the terrain with removal of the vegetative layer. The total estimated cost for these works is $516,582.04 (five hundred sixteen thousand five hundred eighty-two dollars and four cents). Once implemented, this project will not only improve the structural and functional conditions of the road but also enhance user safety, promote more efficient traffic flow, and facilitate road maintenance management by the Decentralized Autonomous Government of Pujilí canton. Furthermore, these actions will contribute to the socio-economic development of the region by providing safer and more sustainable transport infrastructure.

This technical project arises from the need to provide improved roads, safe and comfortable mobility to the inhabitants that covers between the abscissas 14+625 to 19+500 of the city of Píllaro. In addition, with the objective of reducing vehicular travel time and promoting economic development and tourism in the areas involved and their surroundings. The project was divided into three phases. The first consisted of field activities, such as the delimitation of the area and the topographic survey. A traffic study projected for 20 years was also carried out to establish the geometric characteristics of the road. In the second, soil samples were extracted that were analyzed in the laboratory to determine their physical and mechanical properties. Concluding with the optimization of the road following the indications of the MOP 2003 regulations, the calculation of the pavement structure and the preparation of a reference budget for the project. As a result, a total length of the road of 4,712 km was determined, with an undulating relief and not so steep slopes. In addition, a future TPDA of 4387 vehicles/day was projected, which classified the road as Class I. Subsequently, a sandy-silty soil with low moisture content and a design CBR of 20.70 percent was identified, indicating excellent quality for use in the subgrade. Based on this data, the pavement thicknesses were calculated, which were 7.5 cm for the asphalt layer, 15 cm for the base, and 20 cm for the subbase for the pavement structure. Finally, a reference budget of $1,899.616,41 was made for the execution of the project. This proposal will seek to improve connectivity and reduce vehicle time with adequate planning for the development of the technical project, thus contributing to the economic and social growth of the sector.

The road that connects the intersection of E491 with Guayaquil Street to the San Pablo sector, in the Santa Rosa parish, Ambato, presents significant deterioration that affects road safety and the fluidity of traffic. To address this problem, a comprehensive road maintenance and conservation plan has been developed that considers a vehicular traffic study, a surface and structural evaluation of the pavement, the design of an appropriate pavement structure and the estimation of a reference budget. The vehicular traffic study determined a current TPDA of 3196 veh/day, with a projection of 5883 veh/day for the year 2044. The pavement evaluation revealed an average PCI of 48, indicating a fair condition. Based on these results, three types of necessary interventions were identified: milling in the first section, complete reconstruction in the second section and land clearing with removal of the vegetation layer in the third section. A pavement structure was designed with a thickness of 5 cm for the asphalt layer, 15 cm of granular base and 20 cm of granular subbase, complying with AASHTO 93 regulations and considering the projected traffic. The total budget for the implementation of the maintenance plan is $496,751.15. As a result, the implementation of the road maintenance and conservation plan will improve road conditions, increase user safety, and optimize road maintenance management by the Santa Rosa parish GAD.

This research refers to the soil analysis of the Mocha Canton, through the correlations of the California Bearing Ratio (CBR), Dynamic Cone Penetration (DCP), Modified Proctor, Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit, Granulometry, Specific Gravity, Density of Field, which allow us to know the index and mechanical properties of the soil. Once the sectors to be analyzed were identified, 6 routes were established for their analysis, obtaining two altered samples, making pits of 1.00m by 1.00m of variable depth at a distance greater than approximately 500m. In situ and laboratory tests were carried out, and based on the results obtained, 25 correlations were achieved between the different variables, applying statistical methods of simple regression and least squares, with a range of the coefficient of determination between 51 and 95 percent. considering themselves reliable. Finally, the flexible pavement was designed, using the CBR determined in the laboratory, and also the CBR calculated through correlations, obtaining the same thicknesses in both cases, confirming the reliability of the correlations made.
