The investigation presents a qualitative approach, exploratory in scope, entirely field-based with the relatives of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in the period March 2020- November 2021. Non-probabilistic purposive sampling was employed, the instrument of which was an individualized interview with a duration of approximately 30 to 45 minutes, in addition, purposive sampling was applied until the information saturation was reached, for the analysis of the data a graph was elaborated to represent the participants' answers according to the categories that were previously established by the authors, based on the deductive method and hermeneutical phenomenology. In conclusion, negative experiences were presented in the personal, psychological, family, social, economic, and communicational areas, as a result of the ignorance of health personnel and families regarding the treatment of a new disease worldwide, evidencing the insufficient medical and therapeutic approach faced with these types of situations and catastrophes.

Two psychological reagents were applied: Videogame Dependence (TDV) and Family Apgar for Children. The data analysis was carried out in the SPSS program using the Spearman Rho test, in which it was obtained as a result that there is no relationship between the variables of family functionality and dependence on video games because the (Rho = -0.027 , p> 0.05). According to the results, the majority of the surveyed population has normal family functionality and although the hypothesis was not verified, it can be shown that when there is a presence of severe family dysfunction, dependence on video games tends to be high.
