A sample of 40 people, aged between 20 and 64 years, belonging to a day care center in Ambato, Ecuador, was used. The research adopted a quantitative, descriptivecorrelational, non-experimental and cross-sectional approach. The INECO Frontal Screening (IFS) and the Family Communication Scale (FCS) were used for data collection. The results showed that there is no significant correlation between both variables; the mean score in working memory was 2.20, while the mean score in family communication was 37.3. In addition, statistically significant differences were found in the perception of family communication according to sex (T (38) = 2.43, p < 0.05), with men reporting better communication in the family environment compared to women.Item FUNCIONALIDAD FAMILIAR Y AUTOCONCEPTO EN ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS(2025-03-05) Ramos Aristimbay, Jean Pierre; García Ramos, Diana Carolina; Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología ClínicaFamily functionality refers to the capacity of a family to effectively fulfill its functions, allowing the development of the identity and autonomy of its members, and includes two components: cohesion and adaptability. Interaction in this environment from an early age corresponds to the process of self-concept formation, and the latter represents the perception that a person has of him/herself as a function of his/her environment. The objective of this research focused on determining the relationship between family functionality and self-concept in university students between 18 and 30 years of age, with a sample of 181 participants. The study was quantitative, using the Family Functioning Perception Test (FF-SIL) and the AF5 Self-Concept Scale; and had a non-experimental design, descriptive level and correlational scope. Finally, the results showed that there is a positive correlation between family functioning and most of the self-concept dimensions; particularly, moderately with family self-concept; low with social self-concept; and very low with academic, physical and physical-sports selfconcept. Together, the average self-concept scores showed a medium-high range, according to their minimum and maximum values, with family self-concept standing out with a mean of 7.62. Regarding family functionality, 60.2% belonged to a moderately functional family, 24.9% to a functional one, 14.4% to a dysfunctional one and 0.6% to a severely dysfunctional one; no significant differences were found with respect to the urban and rural sectors.Item ESTILOS DE APEGO Y FUNCIONAMIENTO FAMILIAR EN ADOLESCENTES(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-09-09) Rovalino Peñafiel, Lizbeth Estefanía; Rodríguez Pérez, Mayra LucíaAttachment styles are relatively long-lasting emotional bonds between an individual and one or more people who are emotionally important to him or her. Family functioning, on the other hand, refers to how problems are resolved within the family environment without compromising the satisfaction of the needs of its members. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between attachment styles and family functioning in adolescents. The research had a quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional approach, with a sample made up of 90 adolescents (56.6% men; 43.4% women), aged between 16 and 17 years. To measure the variables, the Internalized Relationship Models Attachment Questionnaire in its reduced version CAMIR-R and the Family Functioning Perception Questionnaire (FF-SIL) were used. The results indicated that the secure attachment style predominated (97%), the moderately functional level prevailed (56%), in addition, no significant differences were found in attachment according to sex. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between secure attachment and family functioning and a negative correlation between avoidant attachment and family functioning.Item COMUNICACIÓN FAMILIAR Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA DEPRESIÓN EN ADOLESCENTES INDÍGENAS(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-09-06) Guachamboza Saqui, Yajaira Betsabe; Ponce Delgado, Agueda del RocíoAbstract The present research focused on the study of family communication which is defined as a process of interaction with family members. Depression is a mental state in which a person has a negative view of his or her identity, environment and future. The aim of the current study is to determine the relationship between family communication and depression in indigenous adolescents. We worked from a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental , cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational design. There was a sample of 121 students, both male and female, aged between 14 and 19 years. The instruments used were the Family Communication Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI II). The study data did not follow a normal distribution so no significant correlation was found between the two variables. The predominant type of family communication is good and the level of depression that stands out is minimal, it is important to note that there are cultural aspects that have a positive influence. The variables presented diverse distributions, with differences observed between genders.Item FUNCIONAMIENTO FAMILIAR Y ESTRÉS PERCIBIDO EN PERSONAS CON ESCOLARIDAD INCONCLUSA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-09-06) Calderón López, Mishelle Estefanía; Ponce Delgado, Agueda del RocíoFamily functioning refers to the quality of ties and cohesion among family members , including aspects such as communication, mutual support and conflict resolution. Perceiv e d stress, on the other hand, is a person's subjective assessment of how stressful the demands of their environment are and how well they are able to cope with them. The objective was to determine the relationship between family functioning and perceived stress in people with incomplete schooling in an Educational Unit of the Province of Tungurahua with a sample of 110 adults. The study had a quantitative approach with a non- experimental, descript i v ecorrelational, cross-sectional design. The family functioning questionnaire (FFSIL) and the perceived stress questionnaire (PSS-14) were used. A slight negative relationship was found (Rho= -0.330 p<0.001). In family functioning the moderately functional level predominated with 45.5%, on the other hand, in perceived stress the sometimes stressed level prevailed with 53.6%. It was found that there were no statistically significant differences according to gender. These findings confirm the research hypothesis, which proposed that adequa t e family functioning correlates with lower levels of perceived stress.Item Estilos de crianza y resiliencia en adolescentes indígenas(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-03-01) Toaquiza Basantes, Grace Mishell; Gavilanes Gómez, Guillermo Daniel Psi. Cl. MSc.Family functionality refers to the relationship that exists between each of its members within the usual nucleus, it implies adequate communication to carry out the family roles that each one must fulfill for optimal functioning. In the family, various roles can be identified, such as: authority, control, expression of positive or negative affection and support, etc. These roles are incorporated into each family nucleus as patterns of interaction that are transmitted from one generation to the next. When a family has developmental problems, it is called a dysfunctional family, which has distinctive characteristics such as: discrepancy, lack of attention, distance and blurred boundaries between the members, this has a significant impact on the well-being of its members, since it increases the possibility of crises or serious events in the most vulnerable of the family nucleus. One of the effects identified in adolescents is the presence of negative behaviors and attitudes that are difficult to control, which has a negative impact on the educational environment. The main objective of the research was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Family Functionality Scale (FF SIL) in a sample of 328 Ecuadorian adolescents from rural áreas.Item Funcionalidad familiar y su relación con el bienestar subjetivo en estudiantes de bachillerato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-03-01) Lara Moran, Lady Zulay; Gaibor Gonzalez, Ismael Álvaro Ps. Cl. Mst.The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between family functionality (FF) and subjective well-being (SWB) in high school students; a sample of 121 students from an educational unit in the city of Pelileo-Ecuador between 14 and 19 years of age with an average of 15.5 years, 41.3% of whom were male and 58.7% female. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational study was carried out. As a result, a positive correlation was found between family functionality and subjective wellbeing, with a predominance of moderately functional families and average subjective well-being in the sample. In conclusion, one of the determinants in the adequate development of subjective well-being is the family, since if adolescents are in a dysfunctional family this will be reflected in a low level of SWB.Item Funcionalidad familiar y asertividad en estudiantes de educación general básica superior y bachillerato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-03-01) Carrasco Sánchez, Adriana Elizabeth; García Ramos, Diana Carolina Ps. Cl. Mg.Students who are passive victims of bullying have difficulties in assertiveness, a social skill most frequently learned in the family. The objective was to determine the relationship between family functionality and assertiveness dimensions in 87 students of a PCEI educational institution in Tungurahua. The research approach was quantitative, correlational in scope, nonexperimental and cross-sectional design. The instruments applied were the Family Functioning Perception Test (FF-SIL) and the Multidimensional Assertiveness Scale (EMA). The results showed a moderate positive relationship between family functionality and one of the dimensions of assertiveness: assertiveness (R= 0.605, p < 0.01); the highest percentage (46%) corresponded to individuals who expressed having a moderately functional family; in the three dimensions of assertiveness there was a predominance of subjects who are in the normal range; the mean family functionality score in men (H=44.4) was not significantly different from that in women (M=47.2). In conclusion, the higher the family functionality, the higher the assertiveness; there was a predominance of families that partially develop seven categories; most of the students in each of the assertiveness dimensions reflected a fluctuating and intermediate degree and finally, sex did not interfere in family functionalityItem La funcionalidad familiar y su relación con la ansiedad en adolescentes de bachillerato(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-03-01) Caguana Sopa, Mishel Elizabeth; Tobar Viera, Andrea Susana Ps. Cl. Mg.Family functionality is known as a system where there are inter-family and interpersonal relationships that facilitate satisfaction within the home. In addition, due to the changes that adolescents undergo, the family should be the pillar of support for the formation of their behavior. Likewise, it facilitates the development and growth of each member of the household, respecting their personal space, privacy and freedom. It contributes as a means of protection in situations of risk and problems that are typical of adolescence. In this sense, if the family dynamics are altered, the family members generate several psychological alterations, among them anxiety. Anxiety in adolescents is presented through exaggerated worry, behavioral changes, traumatic experiences and fears generated by specific objects or in situations of social interaction. The study consisted of 141 adolescents aged 14 to 17 years with a mean of 14.9. The FF-SIL Questionnaire was used to evaluate the first variable and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale for the second variable. The results of the research show that adolescents identify with a moderately functional family is 44.0% and 48.9% have mild anxiety. It was shown that anxiety does not differ according to sex and it can be concluded that having an adequate perception of family functionality is related to anxiety in adolescents.
