(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización, 2023-03) Idrobo Albán, Josué Leonardo; Reyes Vásquez, John Paúl
Adoption of the lean manufacturing philosophy is currently seen as a necessity since it is a differentiating and successful element to ensure high competitiveness in the market. LIWI medical, an Ecuadorian company dedicated to the manufacture of orthopedic footwear at national level, presents a lack of control over its value chain and production processes, wasting the maximum of its capacity, creating a negative impact on its production costs, productivity. Therefore, the objective of the research project focuses on a proposal for improvement through appropriate lean manufacturing tools, which will have a positive impact on the footwear production line by reducing waste and thus improving its capacity. Using industrial engineering tools, information is gathered to determine the current situation of the company and, above all, to identify and describe the production activities. To find the waste, the value stream map is applied to establish the activities that do not add value to the process. For the selection of operational tools, the hierarchical analytical process methodology is used, showing that the tools with the greatest impact are: 5s and quick tool change, which allow reducing or eliminating waste. Likewise, a simulation model of the process is designed in the FlexSim program, with the improvement proposals. The results show that the application of lean manufacturing tools improves process efficiency by reducing the takt time by 30.28%, achieving the production of 45 pairs per day, representing an improvement of 22.86%, with a productivity of 1.30, which improved by 2.36% compared to the current situation, improving the production system

The main objective of this research work is to improve productivity in the COMPUBODADO company, which is focused on reducing unproductive times through the use of time and movement study techniques. The applied methodology was of a qualitative-quantitative type due to the fact that data was collected through direct observation and interview, in addition to the processing time for each task, cycle time of the production process, number of operators, process flow and conditions. current production. On the other hand, secondary data, which included a brief history and organizational structure of the company and effective working hours. From the information obtained, several products that are made in the company were identified, so the ABC classification method was applied, where it is concluded that the product to be analyzed is the polo shirt because it is the one with the highest demand and valorization. for the company. Activity and analysis diagrams were used for each process, as well as time and movement study formats, in the measurement of the work it was obtained as a result, that the bottleneck is the manufacturing area since it is where they carry out the greatest amount operations and therefore entails a longer production time, the current standard time for the production of polo shirts was obtained from the analysis, which was 36.99 minutes. An improvement proposal was developed based on the study of times and movements where it is proposed, the standardization of operations, a new work methodology, the redistribution of machines and also, the organization of the work space to facilitate the search for materials and equipment through the 5s methodology, where the new standard time is obtained as a result, which is 32.70 minutes, which translates into an increase of 779 polo shirts per month to 881, that is, an improvement of 13% compared to the method current.

Mostly, the companies don´t have or don´t work with the Lean Manufacturing philosophy tools, at the same time, the companies don’t think about the possibility of implementing the Six Sigma methodology, as a result is that the organizations are affected by representative economic losses caused by waste and delays of times. For this reason, the purpose of this research is to develop a Lean Six Sigma study in the sole’s injection process of the company Beltrán Inyecciones. Because of the variability that exists in the productive processes of a company, in the present project, the DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) was used for the respective analysis of the processes, based on a qualitativequantitative approach, whereby, is carried out of data collection concerning the cycle times used for mold changes, main problem, essentially oriented in a non-probabilistic sampling for the meticulous study of the performance of the process through the help of the Excel and Minitab softwares. Lastly, an improvement proposal is prposed using the Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) system and the validation of the proposal is clarified through the simulation of the process in FlexSim 2019. The results obtained indicate that the drawback with the greatest impact falls on the delays in executing mold changes, generally it´s caused by the lack of organization on the mold shelves and by not having manuals of procedures, therefore, the data reflects low Sigma levels with an average value of 3.39, thereby, the process is not adequate as it does not meet established specifications. Finally, it is defined, with the help of the implementation of the Preparation Time Reduction system, of 39.38% reduction in the time required to change molds is achieved, which generates an estimated annual benefit of $17,328.00 dollars.

Lean manufacturing contemplates the reduction of waste and allows greater control over it, for this reason several organizations have decided to implement these tools that create a culture of organization, standardization and reduction of the waste generated. The slaughter plant "Pura Pechuga", whose economic activity is the production of slaughtered chicken, has seen fit to improve the deficiencies in terms of waste control, organization and standardization of processes. The main objective of this research project is to propose lean manufacturing tools that improve the productivity of the slaughtering process with the reduction of waste found such as: waiting, unnecessary movements, excess transport and over-processing. To meet these objectives, an information survey is carried out using industrial engineering tools, with which the current state of the production process, its areas, resources, etc., was known, then the standard times were obtained where processes that restrict productive capacity were found. The analysis of the waste of the production process was carried out through the VSM, which as a diagnostic tool also allowed knowing the activities that add and do not add value, on the other hand, as operational tools, a proposal for the implementation of the 5S was established, whose objective is to maintain order and cleanliness, with the SMED tool it is proposed to reduce the preparation times of two processes that disrupt the continuous flow of production. As part of the standardization, a proposal is established that would reduce the time a chicken takes to be processed, going from 1.46 minutes to 1.28 minutes, which in percentage represents an improvement of 11.90%, finally it is included as a proposal the use of standardized work sheets, which will serve as a guide for operators with a focus on improving productivity.

By not working with the Lean Manufacturing philosophy, companies generate waste and therefore economic losses, therefore, the purpose of this research is to carry out a Lean Six Sigma analysis in the process of making polyvinyl chloride boots in the Milboots company, located in Ambato city. The project is based on the Lean Six Sigma methodology, which combines an instruction manual or also known as the DMAIC cycle, with lean manufacturing tools; a qualitativequantitative approach is used with data that follow a Poisson distribution. The main waste generated in the production process and that causes economic losses, are the defects in the yellow / blue and black / crepe 4x4 PVC boots, these being the product with the highest demand. There are two critical processes that correspond to the injection of the aforementioned products, these are under statistical control, and with an average sigma level of 3, however, they are not fully capable of meeting customer specifications. Finally, it is determined that the company does not work with a quality philosophy because the staff do not have a commitment to continuous improvement, which allows increasing levels of competitiveness at the national level, furthermore, don´t work based on a quality policy, which entails achieving short and long-term objectives.
