VALORES REFERENCIALES DEL Y-BALANCE TEST (YBT) EN NIÑOS DE 7 A 11 AÑOS DE EDAD
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Pérez Muso, Anderson Fabricio; Arias Córdova, Paúl Adrián
The Y-Balance test (YBT) was used as a functional test to measure the dynami c balance and stability of the children of the Guaytacama Parish. This instrume n t requires participants to perform movements with a single foot while maintai ni n g balance with the contralateral foot, the reaches are performed in different directio ns : anterior posteromedial and posterolateral, resulting in values aimed at the maximu m reach distance (in centimeters). The objective set by this research project is: Determ i n e the reference values of the YBT in boys and girls from 7 to 11 years old. The results of its applicability demonstrated that there are several factors that influence the data obtained from the YBT, such as: sex, age and/or the level of physical activity of the participant. Regarding the reliability through the test-retest for the different YBT directions reached, it is >0.75 to <0.92, ranging from “good” to “excelle n t” . Furthermore, it was found and assured that the YBT has good reliability, revealing that the results are consistent and are related to the studies that support the research. Finally, it is concluded and reference values of the YBT are determined in the child populati o n from 7 to 11 years of age for both males and females and compliance with the general work objective is achieved.

The research project was developed with the objective of determining whether rhythmic auditory stimulation helps to improve the balance and gait of older adults in the parish of Atahualpa, for which a group of 20 older adults, 18 women and 2 men, were evaluated using the Berg scale and the Time Up and Go (TUG) test to assess the state of balance and gait of the participants. The intervention lasted 8 weeks, two days a week for 30 minutes where participants performed a series of exercises to the rhythm of a metronome ranging from 90 bpm to 120 bpm, the rhythm was increasing as thexiii weeks went by, at the end of the intervention was re-evaluated to compare the results and see if there was an improvement in adults. The research was developed under a quantitative approach since data was collected from the Berg scale and the TUG test from which numerical values were obtained and the results were analyzed with the T test for related samples, it is an observational study with intervention because a comparison of the results of the evaluations was made and to verify if there was an improvement, finally the research design is longitudinal because the assessments were conducted at different times, it is prospective considering that the assessments and the intervention was applied directly to the participants. The results of the research show that there was a greater significance in the results of balance with a value of p= 0.00, demonstrating that rhythmic auditory stimulation is effective in improving balance.

MSc.
Introduction: Balance disorders limit the mobility of the elderly, reducing their physical abilities and increasing the risk of falls. Objective: To evaluate balance disorders in the elderly of the Quisapincha parish and determine the effectiveness of oculomotor stimulation with LED lights to improve it and reduce the risk of falls. Methods: A quantitative, observational study with intervention, longitudinal and prospective was designed. Fifteen older adults with balance disorders were included. The Timed Up and Go (TUG) and Berg tests were used to assess balance and gait, and the Falls Efficacy Scale International (FES-I) test was used to determine the nocturnal fear of falling. An intervention was carried out using led lights that signaled the path from the bed to the bathroom. The collected data was analyzed with Excel and IBMSPSS software using descriptive statistics and correlation tests. Results: Women represented 60%, aged 70 to 79 years. In the initial evaluation of the TUG 93.3% presented a slight risk of falling, in the Berg 60% a slight risk of falling and in the FES-I 33.3% rated their fear with a 6. After the intervention in the TUG 86.6% tube a normal evaluation, in the Berg 86.6% slight risk of falling and the FES-I 46.6% evaluated their fear with a 3. Conclusions: Oculomotor stimulation with LED lights allowed older adults to improve balance, gait and decrease the nocturnal fear of falls

MSc
The objective of this project is to determine the effect of the application of the visual sensory stimulation strategy based on the Perfetti method on balance in older adults of the Quisapincha parish. This research has a qualitative-quantitative research approach of longitudinal descriptive type with the participation of 20 older adults, 3 of them were male and 17 were female. In this study, balance and gait evaluations were performed before and after the Perfetti Method intervention. This evaluation allowed us to know the level of risk of falling and the level of independence capacity to which the older adults belonged. The evaluation scales applied were the TUG test and the Berg balance scale and the intervention was based on the Perfetti Method with visual sensory stimulation, in which 8 weeks of intervention were worked. According to the Perfetti Method intervention in older adults, it was possible to see a change according to the established tests, a large percentage that belonged to the group of medium risk of falls went on to belong to a group of low risk of falls, implying a better quality of life. In conclusion, the Perfetti method allows us to recover through the central nervous system by means of sensory stimulation. Movement, attention and visualization are part of the process of recognition of the environment to the body, which is the means for the reception of information through the body surface and it is possible to obtain a response for the functional recovery of the participant

Msc.
Kinefilaxia is described as the part of physiotherapy that works on the prevention and/or improvement of pathologies through physical activity using the voluntary movement of the person. The objective of this research work was to apply kinefilaxia to promote balance in older adults at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Home for the Elderly, for which a total of 18 participants participated. It is a study with a mixed qualitative-quantitative approach, using tests such as the ABC-16 Test, Get Up and Go Test and Modified Romberg, for balance assessment, which were applied before starting and at the end of the proposed intervention, which consisted of exercises for balance, gait and proprioception. According to the results obtained, improvements were observed in terms of the risk of falling, the Romberg test was performed with open and closed eyes in which better results were obtained with open eyes (p=0.000). And significant values for the other evaluations (p=0.000) which demonstrate the efficacy of the application of kinephylactic activities.

Msc
As the years go by, older adults adapt to their environment by means of compensatory measures to replace the functional capacity lost when performing different activities of daily life. The objective of this study was to determine the balance in specific activities in this population with 73 participants. It is a quantitative study that oriented the investigation by means of the Activities Specific Balance Confidence to evaluate in which activities they had less balance confidence. The results of the ABC were also correlated with the predisposing risk factors for falls, and a comparison was made between this test and the dependency capacity of the elderly with the help of the Lawton and Brody scale. According to the orientation of our results, we identified the correlation between the ABC test and the level of functionality of IADL (p= 0.00), having a lower capacity for autonomy increases the risk of falling, something similar occurs with the number of days of exercise (p=0.005) which executes higher functional capacity, thus increasing the quality of life, Among the predisposing indicators of falls there was no relevance, mostly this is different with respect to the sociodemographic characteristics of the population evaluated.
