Item ALTERACIONES SENSORIALES EN EL ADULTO MAYOR Y SU RELACIÓN CON LA CALIDAD DE VIDA(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Udeo Torres, Jessica Paola; Cedeño Zamora, María NarcizaAging is linked to sensory changes in older adults, which affects their quality of life and can lead to disabilities. Currently, around 50 million people suffer from sensory impairments, a figure that is expected to increase to 82 million by 2030. These impairments include problems in the five senses (vision, hearing, taste, smell and touch), which are essential for perception and interaction with the environment. To improve the quality of life of older adults and their caregivers, it is crucial to implem e n t comprehensive health policies that address these sensory problems. This also involve s empowering people to reduce risk factors such as diabetes and cardiovascu l a r disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) offers programs to assess and reduce sensory and cognitive impairment in the elderly. Alcohol and tobacco use can aggravate sensory and memory problems, negatively affecting quality of life. Family caregivers play a critical role in the well-being of older adults with sensory impairment. It is vital to understand how these impairments impact their daily lives and to assess their sensory, mental and motor abilities to prevent falls and improve their quality of life.A recent study revealed that sensory impairments, especially in vision and hearing, have a major impact on the quality of life of older adults. Decreas e d vision can predict cognitive changes, and sensory impairments are associated with an increased risk of dementia. These impairments also affect independence, well-being and social interactions. Dysfunction of the sense of smell is related to cognitive and sensory impairment, affecting memory and verbal fluency, and may be an early indicator of dementia, also influencing nutrition and daily activities. Factors such as low schooli ng , declining physical performance and lack of social support increase cognitive and sensory vulnerability, making the support of health professionals, family and friends crucial to manage these dysfunctions.Item ANÁLISIS DE LA VELOCIDAD DE LA MARCHA EN PACIENTES CON EPOC(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-27) Santafé Caiza, Alison Nicole; Latta Sanchez, María AugustaThe article reviews the importance of gait speed analysis in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a chronic respiratory disease that causes airflow obstruction and has significant impacts on quality of life and mortality. Walking abilit y is closely related to overall physical function and health, and in COPD patients, dyspnea and fatigue can affect their ability to walk, thus influencing their quality of life. The clinical relevance of this analysis is emphasized as it provides information on physica l function, exercise, and disease prognosis. Additionally, the results of a comprehens i v e literature review examining how gait speed correlates with disease severity, exercis e capacity, and quality of life in COPD patients are discussed. The findings suggest that higher real-world gait speed may be associated with a lower risk of severe exacerbatio ns , highlighting its potential as a prognostic marker and its relevance in the development of therapeutic interventions and public health strategies aimed at improving physica l function and quality of life in COPD patients.Item TÉCNICAS FISIOTERAPÉUTICAS PARA TRATAR EL PROLAPSO DE ÓRGANOS PÉLVICOS(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2024-08-26) Acaro Narváez, Andrea Gabriela; Villalba Ortiz, Paola GabrielaPelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a significant clinical problem that affects many women at different stages of life. The objective of this study is to synthesize current evidence on physiotherapeutic techniques applied in the treatment of POP, providing a clear and wellfounded perspective for health professionals. A systematic review of the literature was conducted between 2019 and 2024, using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and COCHRANE, and keywords related to physiotherapy and pelvic prolapse. Eleven studies with a good methodological quality score were selected. The results showed that pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) significantly improves pelvic, urinary, and intestinal symptoms, as well as pelvic floor function and quality of life. However, no significant improvements were observed in sexual function or changes in the stage of POP. The heterogeneity among the studies made interpretation of the results difficult. Additionally, when PFMT was used as an adjunct to surgery, no additional improvements were evidenced.Item Importancia de la fisioterapia después de la histerectomía(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud / Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2023-03-01) Arévalo López, Andrea Alexandra; Tello Moreno, Mónica Cristina Lcda. Mg.The objective of this research project was to determine the importance of physical therapy after hysterectomy. The type of research was descriptive, in which, through the use of validated questionnaires, it was possible to know the existence of urinary, defecatory, prolapse and sexual symptomatology with a qualitative – quantitative approach and cross – sectional design. The Australian Pelvic Floor Questionnaire was used to determine the existence of patients’ symptoms in the urinary, bowel, prolapse and sexual function sections. The PFIQ – 7 questionnaire aimed to determine the quality of life after hysterectomy and the interview aimed to find out what kind of information the participants had about physiotherapy and whether they considered the medical recommendation about physiotherapy after hysterectomy to be important. The population consisted of 14 hysterectomized women. The results showed the appearance of urinary, bowel and sexual function symptomatology, and the participants didn’t consider their symptomatology as a medical problem. In conclusion, physical therapy isn’t know by the study population and isn’t recommended by the medical staff after hysterectomy, in addition, the participants considered it important to know physical therapy as a method of treatment for the symptomatology that may occur after hysterectomy. MSc.Sensory deficits, whether visual, vestibular or proprioceptive, in elderly people can affect the quality of life and the degree of dependence. The main objective of this study was to determine the sensory dependence of motor control and quality of life in older adults of the Sumak Kawsay Wasi Institute of Priority Social Attention of the Provincial Government of Napo. Twenty-three older adults aged 65 years with an average of 75.9 ± 7.2 years from the Sumak Kawsay Wasi Priority Care Institute of the city of Tena participated, where 16 (70%) were women and 7 (30%) were men. Sensory dependence was evaluated with the Romberg test, Timed Up and Go and the Functional Reach test. The WHOQOL-OLD (World Health organization Quality of life-Old) questionnaire was used to assess quality of life. Participants signed the informed consent form and SPSS was used for data analysis. The mean quality of life was 73.04±10.51, 56.5% (13 patients) have high quality of life, while 43.5% (10 older adults) have medium quality of life. We conclude that the visual deficit was more compromised than the vestibular and proprioceptive areas. However, the variables were significantly influential in the quality of life of the older adult.Item Valoración de la calidad de vida mediante el cuestionario Saint George en pacientes post COVID -19(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Terapia Física, 2022-03-01) Aldas Palacios, Tatiana Alexandra.; Villarroel Quispe, Andrea Elizabeth Lcda. Msc.Introduction: Due to the state of health emergency caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Covid19), the increase in the morbidity-mortality burden and sequelae following the disease have triggered factors such as sedentary lifestyle, atrophies, fatigue, generating a decrease in functionality and activity limitations. In view of this, it is substantial to mark the influence of the disease on the quality of life in relation to health, through the application of the SAINT GEORGE questionnaire. Objective: Assessment of quality of life using the SAINT GEORGE questionnaire in post-COVID patients -19 Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study with bibliographic-documentary modality in 24 post Covid-19 patients attending the Rehab-vital Physical Rehabilitation Center who signed the informed consent, which were evaluated by means of the Saint George questionnaire. At the end, the data obtained were synthesized in the Excel database and SPSS software, where the frequency, mean and percentage of the variables were obtained. Results: In this study, 54.2% were women with an average age of 52.4 years, who were health personnel, students and retirees the most affected with 16.7% -25.0% respectively. With respect to quality of life, 83.3% had a "Good" quality of life, 16.6% of the patients had a "Fair" quality of life, with the dimension "Impact" being the most affected with an average of 24.33 above the other dimensions. Conclusion: Most of the study population does not present limitations in relation to quality of life in health. However, the Covid -19 and its value concomitant with the sociodemographic variables have a certain negative influence on healthItem Efectividad de la fisioterapia aplicada a través de la telerehabilitación durante el estado de excepción dispuesto en el ecuador por la emergencia sanitaria del sars- cov2 (covid 19)(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Fisioterapia, 2021-09-01) Mendoza Rodríguez, Yuliana Lilibeth; Cobo Sevilla, Verónica de los Ángeles Lcda. Msc.Introduction: Due to the global pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID 19), health centers and providers have been obligated to adopt alternative methods to provide treatment, in order to safeguard patients and professional´s health. In Physical Therapy, telerehabilitation has been the chosen method allowing permanent contact with the patient, while satisfying social distancing requirements, maintaining the recovery process. Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of Physical Therapy interventions applied through telerehabilitation to patients of the Physical Therapy Laboratory of the Universidad Técnica de Ambato during the state of exception disposed by the government because of the sanitary emergency of the SARS CoV-2. Methods: A non-experimental and retrospective study was conducted. Initially, clinical histories were classified according to age, sex, and diagnosis. To determine the effectiveness patients responded the SF-12 questionnaire before and after the interventions, as well as the pain VISUAL ANALOGUE SCALE (VAS), whose statistical analysis was performed on SPSS software (t-test). Results: Out of the 38 participants, in 23.7% pain completely disappeared; SF-12 score also improve in at least 14 points (29.9 initial vs 43.7 final); while the t-test showed significant differences throwing a value of =0,000 being p=0.05; accepting the affirmative hypothesis. Conclusions: In general, all participants showed improvement in quality of life and pain, meaning that Physical Therapy applied through Telerehab is an effective alternative method in cases were physical contact must be avoided.
