Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2021-02) Acosta Peña, Alex Vinicio; Moya Cepeda, Raúl Alfredo; Arroba Arroba, César HernánThe objective is to design and build an electricity generation system using irrigation channels, in order to evaluate the potential that irrigation channels have generating electricity, as well as to find new renewable and sustainable energy sources. The irrigation channel that will be used in this research is the Huachi – Pelileo channel. The methodology begins with the collection of data on the speed of water and the flow that exists in the irrigation channel. The ANSYS software was used for the design of the turbine, in which the existence of cavitation in the turbine blades and the resistance of the turbine components were analyzed based on the Von Mises failure criteria. Then, the transmission system was designed based on the calculated rotation speed of the turbine and the speed required by the generator to operate. Finally, the construction and the evaluation of the generation system was carried out. The result obtained was a maximum power of 422.1 Watts in the test carried out in the workshop, in which the correct operation of the generation system was guaranteed. However, a simulation carried out in the SolidWorks software determined a maximum power of 1 kilo Watts. This value is due to the fact that the environment of the irrigation channel could not be recreated in the workshop.Item Desarrollo de un plan de mantenimiento de las máquinas hidraúlicas de generación eléctrica tipo Francis para la central la península mediante el mantenimiento centrado en la confiabilidad RCM(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2021-01) Lascano Constante, Bolívar Marcel; López Velástegui, Jorge EnriqueThis titling project allowed the development of a maintenance plan for the hydroelectric plant "La Peninsula", prepared by collecting information described in the daily activity log of generation operators, in which data was collected from the four hydraulic machines, for obtaining technical data from the equipment, environmental and safety suggestions for operators. The generation units were divided into three operating systems for their analysis and application of the RCM methodology, using the following: availability calculation, frequency of tabulated failure modes by pareto analysis and determining recurrent maintenance activities, the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) method focuses on the seven questions of the RCM , by which the IPR (Risk Priority Index) of each component of the generating units was identified, the criticality was calculated using weighted criteria that assess the risk posed by each element to the presentation of a failure mode and the last step were the RCM decision sheets detailing the proposed maintenance activities.
