(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2025-02) Guambuguete Yauqui, Andrés Isaías; Muisin Martínez, Alex Efraín; Analuiza Maiza, Oscar Iván
The design and construction of the widia blade sharpening machine for Maderera Guambuguete's arose due to the difficulty of sharpening the blades, the distance from the sharpening machines and the high cost of this process, factors that limited production and reduced efficiency in the daily preparation of wood. The methodology applied employs the documentary research method, as well as field research, with a design approach; while the types of research employed are descriptive, which begins with an analysis of the constituent parts, followed by analytical design, as well as CAD, CAE analysis, and the preparation of plans, continuing with the acquisition of materials, the machining of each part and the assembly of the set. The design began with the determination of the Knoop hardness of 7000 HK, using a 0.4 hp motor and an AISI 1045 steel blade holder, with a diameter of 2” and 600 mm. It includes a 5 mm sliding plate, 4 mm protective box, and a 126 mm power screw. The structure is formed by the base plate, collector, guide plate and 50x6 AL 50x6 stops. A 0.85 hp coolant recirculation pump was selected, with a flow rate of 10 lpm, meeting the required standards; while the safety factors vary between the one calculated and the one given by finite elements with an error percentage ranging from -4 to +20 percent that serves as a reference for the proper execution of the project. With the analyses carried out, using components and materials according to the specifications, the design and construction of the widia blade sharpening machine was achieved and the respective testing was carried out.

A feasibility analysis of three alternatives is carried out for the development of the prosthesis with different mechanisms, based on the weighted criteria of low cost, functionality and reliability, ease of manufacturing and assembly, technological innovation and ergonomics. It was made a measurement of the anthropometric dimensions of a sample of 360 adult male people to determine the body measurements that should be considered in the design of the prosthesis for the dimensioning of the elements. From the weighting of the criteria, it is established that cost, functionality and reliability have a greater weight. Under considerations exposed, alternative 1 was selected consisting of a prosthesis with hydraulic drive, which has three main components such as a socket, a leg with a hydraulic cylinder inside and a template that meets the function of the human foot. The materials considered are for the case of the carbon fiber socket, the PP Polypropylene leg and the POM polymer acetal template. The construction of the leg and the template is done through a molding process complemented by a finish by polishing and painting. By checking the stress resistance of Von Mises or Distortion Energy, it is determined that the maximum tension is 44.85 MPa, with a design safety factor of 3.8, which is higher than the required minimum of 2.5.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2019) Saquinga Bautista, Alex Bladimir; Guamanquispe Toasa, Jorge Patricio
The present technical project is based on the mechanical design and construction of a fruit pulping machine under the parameters established as production processes, capacity, cutting force, thickness of the seeds, fruit density and ergonomics. The pulping machine has a hopper designed to withstand the pressure of the higher density fruit and the weight of the boxes at the time of depositing the fruit inside. The machine has a cutting system designed to cut passion fruit; This fruit needs greater cutting force at the time of pulping. The pulper has a set of sieves designed for each thickness of the seeds. In the performance tests, the capacity of 500 kilograms per hour was verified, fulfilling the capacity of the machine, the elements of the machine are constructed in austenitic stainless steel AISI 304.

This document deals with the design and construction of molds for obtaining green test specimens under ASTM standards, so the design of the molds was carried out respecting the measures detailed in the standards, later a work material was selected that This project was a steel AISI D3 commercially known steel K100, which due to its chemical composition in the analysis carried out in a design software (von misses and safety factor) fulfilled what was required. In the case of the punches, being the part that suffers the most during the compaction process, a mathematical analysis was carried out. Then proceeded to the machining of each of the parts that make up the molds, where for the preparation of the plate-female was used a wire EDM cutter, to have a better accuracy in the measurements of the molds manufactured. As regards the process of compaction of the metallic powder, a hydraulic press with a plunger diameter of 20.5 cm was used, which allowed us to give a compaction pressure of 1000 PSI, obtaining test pieces for tension tests with thicknesses of 3.56 and 6.35 mm within the tolerance of ± 0.13 and specimens for impact tests with thicknesses of 10 mm with a tolerance of ± 0.10. The mold that presented the least difficulty was that of the test pieces for stress testing since its geometry has several radii, which improve the process. Vaseline was used as a lubricant, as it is considered a natural lubricant and would not affect the chemical composition of the compacted powder. The quantities of powder initially calculated to be placed in each mold can vary when obtaining the specimens, because some material is lost when placing the powder in the cavity of the molds as in the case of tension test tubes. an amount of 17.5 gr was weighed for 3.56 mm and 31.5 mm thickness specimens for 6.35 mm specimens where, after being compacted, they had a variation of 0.3 g with respect to the initial amount, and for the specimens for impact tests the The amount of the powder was 54 gr, so after the compaction it obtained a weight of 53.5 gr.

The technical Project es focused on the design and construction of a rollover simulator for the ESCUT driving school in the city of Quito. The importance of it is based on the safety and awareness of students, related to rollover accidents, for this a design was made that has a correct operation, it was investigated different existing models in other countries such as: Chile, Spain, United States ; who has projects with registered patents. The security that the rollover simulator should provide was taken into account, for which the passive safety systems of the automobile were analyzed, such as: safety belt, airbag, head restraints and tensioners. To analyze the weight that the simulator will support, a classification of the cars was made, selecting the M1 class. The design parameters taken into account, the specifications generated by the manager of the driving school, among which are the dimensions, the angular speed, the material and the weight of the car. A previous design helped to correct faults and then define the final design of the project, once all the design and analysis aspect was completed, the construction of all the constituent elements of the simulator was carried out, finally the tests were carried out to verify the operation, obtaining satisfactory results that evidenced a benefit for the manager of the driving school ESCUT. Keywords: Overturning, mechanical system design, engine power, power transmission, safety factor, allowable stress.
