Item Diseño y construcción de un prototipo de turbina tipo tornillo sin fin para la iluminación y electrificación de cercados eléctricos en las comunidades y sectores rurales del cantón Latacunga(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2024-07) Guilcamaigua Chacon, Bryan Steeven; Yunapanta Velastegui, José LuisDue to the need to improve the energy supply in the rural sectors of the Latacunga canton, it is proposed to carry out the respective design, improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the sector. In this research, the data obtained from the water channel of the Anrracas sector in the parish of Juan Montalvo in the city of Latacunga were used, taking into account as important data the value obtained from the water flow, the design and mechanical construction of the Archimedes screw type turbine prototype was elaborated, for the realization of this project several scientific articles and investigative documents referring to the subject were used. The construction of the design was made based on the data of the flow of the channel, for this a previous sketch was made in a 3D software simulator of mechanical design, for the proper functioning of the screw in the water was considered an average flow of 0.5 to 1.5 cubic meters per second. The materials for the construction and assembly of the prototype were selected after the analysis of the weight of the screw, dimensions, resistance of the structure, the materials selected for the assembly of both the structure and the turbine are corrosive materials because the turbine prototype will be submerged in water. Once the operation tests were carried out with a multimeter, the voltage measurement was taken, resulting in 13.5 V, and 550 rpm, with the values obtained led lamps were turned on, obtaining an optimal result for the project's functionality. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2019) Villegas Freire, Luis Miguel; Vaca Ortega, Wilson HenryThe present work arises from the need to validate processes of execution of corrosion tests in the salt fog chamber for characterization of samples in shape, sizing and a population that allows easy analysis of the specimens once the test is completed. Regarding the industrial field, the behavior of steel with 18 different processes is analyzed to evaluate the procedure less vulnerable to the values of corrosion rate. Under the ASTM B117 Standard, the test was executed, where it details the parameters to be codified and controlled during the 120 hours of analysis time. By means of the ASTM D610 Standard the degree of corrosion of the samples was determined. Standard G1 details the process of calculating the corrosion rate, for the post comparison using the values obtained. Of the 18 processes established in the study we have three processes with corrosion rate equal to 0 (zero), such as M13B that corresponds to a joint welded with the electrode E6013, with manual initial cleaning (sandpaper) and coated by broaching, M18B which corresponds to a joint welded with the electrode E7018, with initial manual cleaning (sandpaper) and coated by broaching and G18B corresponding to a joint welded with the electrode E7018, with initial mechanical cleaning (pleasant) and coated by broaching. The processes are less vulnerable to the corrosion process. Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2017-08) Yépez Intriago, Ambar Carolina; Vaca Ortega, Wilson HenryThe study of the coatings in carbon steel A-36, and its incidence in the corrosion rate using the chamber of salt spray, for which three types of organic coatings were chosen, and their anticorrosive behavior was studied. In addition to this, the effect of the initial cleaning rates prior to the application of the coatings was studied. The test was performed according to ASTM B117, which establishes the parameters necessary to perform the accelerated corrosion test in a salt spray chamber, in addition to the necessary laboratory controls that prove the test. The corrosion rate was calculated according to ASTM G1, and the coatings will be purchased to establish which is the best protection. Additionally, the degree of corrosion of the coatings was established by visual inspection according to ASTM D610. The best corrosion protection methods for A-36 carbon steel were established
