Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2019) Pico Llerena, Jonathan Javier; Yunapanta Velasteguí, José LuisThe present work is focused on determining the wind potential from the energy resource which is generated by the wind, with the possibility of installing high-power wind turbines, in the Mechahuasca sector in Pilahuín Parish, Canton Ambato, Tungurahua Province. The research is of experimental type based on the analytical method, with the aim of evaluating variables of wind like: average speed and predominant direction, the one was taken from a meteorological tower inside the ecological reserve Chimborazo, the tower delivered data to 30 meters The data is analyzed statistically by software such as Excel and SPSS, extrapolating this data to 90 meters which is the location of the hub of a high-power wind turbine, obtaining as a result a power density of 547.5 W/m2 with a predominant direction of the East and an average speed of 7.36 m/s, these results were important for the selection of the wind turbine, since according to the IEC 61400- 1 standard, we must select the agreement at the annual average speed and the turbulence index, a wind turbine of class III or IV type A, therefore a model is selected (GW82/1500) that met the required ranges, with important characteristics such as the swept area that is 5320 m2, with a nominal power of 1500 kW, while the wind potential that would be produced anually by the wind turbine is of 2912.7 kW, finally this will cover 10% of the energy demand of the province of Bolivar that is (8,532 GWh). In conclusion, the Mechahuasca sector is not an area that can be used for the implementation of high-power wind turbines, since these must have a range above 1000 W/m2, in addition only the wind energy could be used in some summer months. However, this analysis would be useful for medium-scale turbine implementation studies, which do not present obstacles on the site that interfere with wind speed and direction, considering it a dry grass area, with an average turbulence index between 0,1 to 0,2.Item Diseño de un aerogenerador de baja potencia en la comunidad de Río Blanco, provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2017-08) Aguilar Castro, Cristóbal Andrés; Mayorga Pardo, Alex SantiagoThe present technical project consists of the design of a low-power wind turbine for the supply of single-phase AC power for a house located in the Río Blanco Community, from Ambato, Tungurahua province. Based on the demand study, made on the local wind power and estimated consumption, a useful power of 178 W was established as design parameters which corresponds to a micro-wind system, other parameters are a design speed of 12.63 m/s, NACA 4412 aerodynamic profiles with three blades, a length of 1.30 m. each one, and built of wood laurel, operating height to 11m. through the use of a folding tower, additionally a permanent magnet generator, an acid lead battery, and an inverter that converts the voltage from 12 V DC to 110 V AC were incorporated. The main components of the wind turbine are the blades, the electric generator, the orientation system, the support tower, the inverter, and the batteries or accumulators. This wind turbine allows meeting the basic energy needs of a local family and represents an important contribution to the development of the community, taking into consideration the living conditions of the beneficiaries, who do not have stable economic income and do not have an energy supply from public network.Item Determinación del potencial eólico disponible en el sector de río Blanco perteneciente al cantón Ambato provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2017) Naranjo Toapanta, Juan José; Mayorga Pardo, Alex SantiagoThe present research work is based on the determination of wind potential through the use of wind (wind energy) in the sector of “Río Blanco del cantón Ambato provincia de Tungurahua”. In the present project, the analytical method was used, in order to evaluate the variables that present the study site such as: direction and wind speed, through the support tower located in the place of study owned by the project " VIABILIDAD DEL POTENCIAL ENERGÉTICO Y SOCIOECONÓMICO DE ENERGÍAS RENOVABLES ", whose measuring devices were placed at 10, 20 and 30 meters of height, from which data was collected for a year and processed and analyzed in this research project, resulting in a wind potential Available from 151,123 W / m2 to 10 meters high, while for a height of 20 meters its potential is 147,327 W / m2 and for a height of 30 meters its potential is 143,548 W / m2 with a predominant wind direction From the East. The implementation of wind turbines for low-scale energy production in the sector of Río Blanco of the Ambato city is feasible because of the favorable winds and a turbulence index of 0,1, which is why it is possible to install horizontal axis wind turbines , since these present greater efficiency and their wear would be minimal.
