The present technical project was developed in collaboration with SaveWater, a company dedicated to the production and commercialization of cleaning products; where the objective is to obtain essential oils from different aromatic plants to use them in the products it manufactures, thus dispensing with the offers available in the national and international market, making it increase competitiveness in the market. After a thorough bibliographic research, it was determined that the most efficient method is the so-called steam dragging, with which a machine was built based on the ASME code, section VII - "Rules for the construction of pressure vessels". For the design of the components, the recommended pressures for essential oils exposed by different authors were taken into consideration, and later their resistance was corroborated by means of finite element analysis to find the safety factor. With the design stage completed, the construction is guided by process diagrams and drawings, thus verifying that the construction parameters are correct. The assembly and verification of operation is concluded with a hydrostatic test, which is supported by the same ASME code, section UG-136. Once the testing stage is completed, the results obtained indicate that the machine is correctly built due to its efficiency report of 90 percent of capacity. Also, the laboratory analysis of the essential oil obtained is optimal according to the reports supported by the ISO-592 standard.
