Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, 2023-03) Chicaiza Gallo, Kevin Joel; Villarroel Gallardo, Henry Paul; Yunapanta Velastegui, José LuisThe present research work consists of designing and constructing a hydraulic unit to perform tests (AISC 341-16) of beam-column structural elements in order to guarantee the reliability and safety of the constructed buildings. This machine was designed to generate a maximum pressure of 2700 PSI, with an ISO 68 specification fluid, the main function is to generate a cyclic movement, simulating an earthquake. For the design of the hydraulic circuit was used a specialized software, to perform this process a simulation was executed, where it was possible to analyze the operation of the machine, this is controlled by a PLC, which allows us to give exact times in the timers within the programming of entry and exit of the rod, these times were programmed based on the angular displacements provided by the standard. The components that make up this system have been selected according to mathematical calculations, in addition we have opted for those elements that are found in the domestic market, these include all the specifications referred to by manufacturers, among which the SIEMENS manual that allows the correct installation of electric motors and the maintenance or replacement of equipment. Once the construction of the hydraulic unit is finished, three operation tests are carried out, achieving the calibration of the inlet and outlet times of the piston rod according to the AISC 341-16 standard, with which the expected results of the research work are obtained.
