The evaluated methods were block sectorization and modular sectorization, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Modular sectorization proved to be favorable in terms of flexibility and organization of irrigation scheduling, allowing for a more adaptable and staggered use of water resources. This approach facilitates a more homogeneous distribution of irrigation over time, optimizing system operation and reducing the risk of overloading the distribution network. Conversely, block sectorization enables the use of the total available flow in a single shift, as it involves a smaller number of plots irrigating simultaneously. This method can be advantageous in contexts where it is necessary to maximize the instantaneous use of water resources, or where the existing infrastructure is designed to operate at full capacity during specific intervals. The selection of the most appropriate sectorization method will depend on numerous factors specific to the operational and geographical context of the irrigation system. Key determining criteria include implementation and maintenance costs, the existing hydraulic infrastructure, the level of automation and available technology, as well as the agronomic and climatic characteristics of the area.
