This research proposes a sustainable alternative for the use and final disposal of residual activated sludge generated in wastewater treatment plants of food companies, through the elaboration of compost. The residual sludge was stabilized through composting in piles with mechanical turning, using sawdust as support material, to improve its conditions. Six piles were made, 5 of which with different amounts of residual sludge and sawdust, and 1 pile only with residual sludge. Variables such as: temperature, humidity and pH were measured, the data was taken based on a completely randomized experimental design. To determine the best treatment, it was only based on the temperature data obtained, in this way, it was determined that the pile made up of 7000kg of residual sludge and 3000kg of sawdust was the best, since it fulfilled the entire process, with the appropriate parameters. and obtaining a quality, stable and mature compost that contained the essential nutrients for agriculture. With this research, it was shown that it is possible to take advantage of the residual activated sludge from PTAR´s of food companies, protecting the environment, with cleaner production techniques and obtaining a highly useful product in the agricultural field with great benefits.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-08) Gallo Sánchez, Marlon Andrés; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel Ernesto
In investigating the wastes at the Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS) Ambato, specifically the request for medications outside the scheduled dispatch day in the medicine warehouse and errors in the preparation of medication cassettes in the inpatient pharmacy such as medications requiring others for administration, indicated but not prescribed medications, or under-dosing the aim is to develop the Lean Healthcare methodology as a strategy for improvement and waste reduction in both areas of IESS Ambato. Through analysis of orders, reports, and medication documentation from March and April 2024, coupled with a time study, a Value Stream Map (VSM) was created to evaluate the current situation. Various quantifications of wastes employed Pareto diagrams and U control charts for analysis. Among the wastes identified in both areas were defects, unnecessary transportation, waiting times, and overproduction (exclusively in the pharmacy). To mitigate these issues, manuals were developed explaining the use of tools such as poka-yoke for defects, the 5S methodology with continuous flow for waiting times, and kanban for unnecessary transportation and overproduction. The implementation of the Lean Healthcare methodology is an effective strategy to identify and eliminate these wastes, potentially reducing waiting times by an estimated 13% and minimizing errors in medication preparation and distribution by approximately 7%. Through the application of Lean tools, the aim is to improve operational efficiency and medical care for patients.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2022-09) Calderón Castillo, Washington Alfonso; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel Ernesto
The problem arises from the need to have a distribution of facilities that provides adequate spaces, properly distributed areas and a storage system according to the requirements of the company, since the current distribution of facilities is not adequate and generates problems in the logistic processes of storage. For the development of the project, the methodology of logistics diagnosis of warehouses and distribution centers was used to identify the current conditions of the warehouse, obtaining as a result deficiencies in floor quality, lack of loading-unloading docks, inadequate distance between aisles and lack of indicators, triggering problems in the processes of reception, storage and dispatch of raw materials, likewise, a categorization of products was made based on the level of consumption and analyzing the criticality of raw materials, identifying the most critical materials thanks to the use of tools such as: ABC, BOM and criticality matrix. On the other hand, the PRISMA methodology was used to obtain applicative criteria related to storage principles and distribution techniques that allowed the design of a new distribution of facilities with which a reduction of about 3,000 meters is foreseen, limiting internal movements by applying a heuristic allocation method. The estimated investment for the implementation is US$59.758,56 and an annual saving of US$1.779,32 is estimated, which represents 2.98% of the total investment, allowing a recovery of the investment in 33,6 months. Finally, the results are corroborated through the simulation of the storage logistics processes using FlexSim software.

Ltda.
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2024-02) Núñez Carrera, Melanie Carolina; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel Ernesto
Procurement management of raw materials and supplies at BIOSEBORGANICS CÍA. LTDA. is a central challenge that requires immediate attention due to its direct impact on the quality and availability of essential supplies for bioproduct production. In response to this problem, a Kraljic matrix is employed to distinguish obtained information for each product based on its characteristics and nature, as well as the peculiarities that surround its suppliers. This tool not only allowed the classification of raw materials and supplies in terms of acquisition complexity and financial impact, but also laid the groundwork for procurement strategy proposals, which have a dual purpose: to strengthen part of the existing activities in the company and to direct others towards a comprehensive transformation to infer in terms of availability and quality. Thus, by contrasting the gathered information, a process characterization and a procedure manual were created, which denote the processes that support the corresponding model. However, a second manual focused on the supplier selection and evaluation process was elaborated, which aims to reinforce the procurement structure, since its relevance has been identified at the root of challenges. It is finally highlighted that timely procurement depends on both executed activities, and the actors involved on them.

An inventory management model application makes it possible to maintain materials and equipment available in the right place and at the right time, which is essential to maximize the expected profits of any company, much more so for a construction company that works continuously with large quantities of materials, so SAIBE CONSTRUCCIONES has considered appropriate the application of an inventory management model that reduces the costs inherent to them. For model aplication, the last project carried out in the company, which was the construction of a house, was selected as the basis. Initially, used materials were classified by applying a Pareto diagram (also called ABC) that divides them into 3 categories that allow identifying the ones that represent the greatest amount in economic terms, so that they are the objective of the study. In A category, the economic order quantity (EOQ) model was applied, which allowed determining the number of orders to be placed and the quantity that these should have to minimize storage and order costs. For B and C categories, it was suggested to only place one order with all needed materials at the start of the project or the stage of construction where they will be used; as a result, when comparing total inventory costs for traditional method and using proposed models, an overall savings of $567,71, equal 12,47% of traditional cost, was obtained, demonstrating effectiveness of the proposed methods. The proposal also includes the use of a maritime container as a temporary warehouse for materials that can be reused in each of the company's projects. By comparing these costs to those of the current method, which entails building these storage facilities for each project, an annual savings of $1292,16 was calculated. Proposal will make it possible to ensure effective resources management, which will enable the company to focus on the best possible development of its work while maintaining customers satisfaction and bringing it one step closer to establishing itself as one of the nation's most reliable and efficient builders.

SUMMARY The non-optimized processes together with the activities that do not add value to the product and the different types of waste in the textile industry make “BetoJunior” choose to carry out an analysis of the current state of its production processes; The main objective of this research is to apply the necessary Lean Manufacturing tools in order to correct the problems mentioned above, in addition to reducing the cycle time of the production line. The project has a qualitative-quantitative approach because it handles three types of Lean Manufacturing tools; to manage waste and eliminate unnecessary objects, the 5 "S" tool was applied, so that work performance is not affected by problems in the physical work area. On the other hand, through the SMED tool and its study of times in the sewing process, it was sought to reduce the cycle time of the same. In order to eliminate the defects in the product, the third tool corresponding to Jidoka was applied, for which the fault in the garment and later its root cause was located. According to the data obtained, there is a great demand for PK2 size 10 women's pants, the same one that in its production processes wastes and disorder were found in the work area; In addition to having external and internal operations that do not add value to the product, the same ones that were combined in order to reduce cycle time. Defects were found in the final product that mostly pertain to sewing failures and stitch failure. It is concluded that women's trousers with their model called PK2 size 10 are the most representative, generating an appreciation of $ 435,282.00 in 2018. Similarly, the total standard time of the production process of the jean studied is 442.89 min / batch, the same time as once the proposed tools have been used, its value decreases to 427.58 min / batch, that is, there is an increase of 9 garments per day, turning the improvement proposal into an opportunity for “BetoJunior” increase your productivity.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial, 2023-03) Muylema Heredia, Henry Ramiro; Naranjo Chiriboga, Israel Ernesto
The lean manufacturing methodology is an excellent way to reduce waste by identifying, measuring and controlling it. Several companies have made use of this methodology that encompasses all those involved in the processes of an organization, generating as a product an organized and standardized culture. The Municipal slaughterhouse of Ambato, dedicated to the slaughter of large and small cattle, has seen the convenience of improving its processes in relation to existing waste, time in its processes, standardization of its activities. The objective of this research project is to propose improvement proposals through the application of tools belonging to the lean manufacturing methodology to mitigate or eliminate waste related to this methodology such as: unnecessary transports and movements, waiting times, defects, over-processing, within the processes of cattle slaughtering. For which a collection of information of the current slaughtering processes is developed with the help of industrial engineering tools, thus knowing which are the activities, tools, machines, personnel and current documentation used. Additionally, by means of a time study, the standard time of each of the processes was obtained as well as their respective cursograms and plant layout. These times are used for the development of the current VSM, with which the waste and activities that really add value in the production process can be identified in order to subsequently establish the most critical waste through a Pareto diagram with the use of tools such as the 5'S used to maintain order, cleanliness and discipline; TPM to maintain the equipment and tools in an optimal state to avoid plant stoppages and defects. To reduce the time of some critical processes, activities such as knife affiliation were eliminated and the proposal to acquire a pneumatic skinning machine was also made, reducing the slaughter time per bovine from 8.77 min to 6.01 min. Likewise, for traceability, improvements have been proposed in the activities, developing a process diagram for the same.

ABSTRACT The company Bioalimentar Compañía Limitada, having new infrastructure, generates waste in the process due to the disorganization of the production plant, in addition to the high times in the change of tooling in the machinery, so that this research aims to make a proposal for improvement through the Lean Manufacturing methodology. The methodology used for the analysis of the process is based initially on the determination of the operating times to obtain the respective production capacities, the same data that are used for the realization of diagnostic tools such as the Value Stream Mapping (VSM ) that allows to identify waste and opportunities for improvement, and by means of the Ishikawa Diagram to determine the cause of them. On the other hand, waste is categorized using a Lean Matrix in order to decide which tool is best suited to the identified problems. With the determination of the cycle times, it is established that the grinding process defines the rhythm of the system with a time of 0,102 minutes / unit due to the change of tooling that is made to the hammer mill machine, generating waits for the others products that the company manufactures, being one of the main wastes identified in the applied lean matrix where others can also be found such as: defects and incorrect processing, which can be eliminated with the application of tools such as: 5's, SMED and Participation System of the personnel, being these chosen as proposal for the study. Applying the aforementioned tools, with the 5's the order and cleanliness of the production plant is improved, while, with the SMED, the tool change time is reduced, improving its cycle time to 0,071 minutes / unit, thus having an increase production capacity.

This research work details the development of a material requirement plan for a medium-sized company in the textile sector, which is dedicated to the manufacture of underwear for men, women, boys and girls, located in the Santa Rosa parish. , from the province of Tungurahua. Various industrial engineering techniques focused on the field of production planning are applied, such as: time study, calculation of forecasts with trend factor, calculation of production capacity, analysis and calculation of production costs, aggregate planning, a production master plan. Within a structured list of materials, costs for acquisition and supply of material, costs per order and delivery times are involved, information of great importance for the development of an MRP, which has been carried out at three levels, 1) determination of an aggregate production plan through the analysis of three traditional models corresponding to leveling capacity with inventories, matching demand and subcontracting, the latter being the most suitable for the company based on its economic activity, internal capacity, available labor and number of orders by the customer with a cost of $128,980.20, 2) a master production plan, in which the batch size to be produced per week in a period of 3 months is determined and whose feasibility is determined by the capacity requirement calculation and 3) a list of the gross material requirements to cover the monthly demand, resulting in a p issued whose releases consist of exact amount and date. The application of this MRP system allows greater coordination and control in the management and supply of raw material and supplies for the manufacture of articles, optimizes material and economic resources, generating with the proposed model an improvement of 11% corresponding to economic savings. of $102,124.18 in relation to production costs.

The purpose of this work is to study the construction process line of VM6 urban model bodywork, documenting necessary times in its manufacture, starting with preparation of chassis and advancing through each of the processes in which quality control must be involved until the final inspection. The research will denote the existence of bottlenecks in the finishing area since it has the longest production time, so a viable solution is given to eliminate this bottleneck. In this way it becomes relevant to create strategies that decrease the manufacturing times without the total variation of processes. Nowdays, finding a linear production system that helps and leverages the competitiveness in terms of national car bodies production is very limiting; VARMA, has been consolidated as one of the main car body industries at nationally, has a distribution of processes that has not been updated, becoming very alien to the production, for this reason it is necessary to reduce the total time of car body manufacturing. In a simple way this research work aims to achieve through an analysis of times and movements to denote that along the linear process there are several procedures that can be overlapped improving the total production times without affecting its quality, in addition to a plant layout that contributes to the reduction of walking times.
