(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2026-07-09) Tubón Guamán, Erick Stalin; Espín Miniguano, Anita Dalila
Intercultural education is essential in the Salasaka community; it helps us keep our cultural identity alive and promote community participation. Currently, globalization and modernization, along with shifting interests among young people, have led to a decline in the transmission of ancestral knowledge and participation in community activities. The objective was to determine the influence of intercultural education on community participation among young people. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach and involved 15 young people from the Salasaka parish. The technique used was a semi-structured interview consisting of 9 prepared questions. Based on the creation of a predefined matrix, categories related to interculturality, ancestral knowledge, cultural identity, mingas, youth leadership, social participation, and community strengthening were identified. The analysis and coding of the data were performed using ATLAS.ti software. It was evident that community participation strengthened leadership, shared responsibility, and a sense of belonging among the youth. Additionally, challenges related to generational changes, sociocultural transformations, and the use of technological resources were identified. Among the factors contributing to intercultural education, the transmission of knowledge, the use of the Quichua language, local customs, and community life were identified as elements that strengthened and promoted cultural identity among young people.

The research analyzes the practices and perceptions of symbolic violence among rural women in the commune of San Juan de la Costa, located in the province of Osorno, in southern Chile. Drawing on the ideas of Pierre Bourdieu, it is understood that this type of violence operates silently through everyday gestures and practices that often go unnoticed but reinforce the subordination of women and maintain entrenched inequalities in areas such as family, school, and work. Within the context analyzed, these dynamics are more profound due to geographical isolation, the persistence of cultural traditions, educational limitations, the burden of care within the home, and the lack of public policies adapted to this territory. Methodologically, the research was conducted using a qualitative approach, with semi-structured interviews to gather as much relevant information as possible from their life stories. An observation guide was also used during field visits, and direct observation was carried out on site to identify women who met the study criteria. The results show that women tend to internalize inequality as part of their “natural order,” accepting different forms of devaluation and exclusion as normal. The influence of family, religion, school dynamics, and the amito was identified in the reproduction of discourses that justify male authority and diminish the female voice. Challenges for Social Work were also identified, including the urgent need for interventions with an ethnic focus, community support, strengthening of formal networks within the sector, and management of viable public policies designed for this vulnerable group. The study concludes that symbolic violence in rural areas is a structural phenomenon that requires contextualized public policies, sustained prevention strategies, and an interdisciplinary approach that allows for the transformation of the cultural foundations that sustain inequality

This research analyzes the influence of political communication on the electoral participation of Indigenous peoples in the province of Tungurahua. The study is based on Ecuador’s condition as a plurinational and intercultural State, where political communication plays a key role in democratic processes and in the inclusion of historically marginalized groups. A mixed-methods approach was applied. From a qualitative perspective, discourse analysis was conducted on political messages and audiovisual content disseminated through traditional and digital media, identifying symbolic, cultural, and narrative elements directed at Indigenous communities. From a quantitative perspective, surveys were administered to Indigenous participants to identify media exposure, perceptions of cultural respect in political messages, and factors influencing voting decisions. The findings show that political communication significantly influences electoral participation when it incorporates cultural, identity-based, and community-related elements. Social media and community spaces were identified as key channels for political dissemination and citizen engagement. However, the results also reveal limitations related to the lack of consistent intercultural political communication. The study concludes that culturally appropriate political communication promotes citizen participation and strengthens local democracy, highlighting the need for inclusive and intercultural communication strategies.

The present research topic is of utmost importance as it aims to provide information on how the countries of Ecuador and Bolivia, possessing a diverse cultural heritage and indigenous traditions deeply rooted in their worldview, have managed to incorporate and legitimize their indigenous justice systems in their legal and constitutional frameworks in the current context with the incorporation of legal pluralism in Latin America. The main objective of this study is to analyze the application of indigenous justice in Ecuador and Bolivia in order to identify the similarities, differences and challenges regarding the implementation and regulation of indigenous justice within their respective legal systems. The methodology employed has a qualitative approach, the research combines descriptive, analytical, explanatory and documentary types of study, allowing a deep and contextualized understanding of the topic. Historical and comparative methods were used to examine the evolution and contrast the indigenous justice systems in both countries. Data collection was carried out by applying the technique of bibliographic review of primary sources such as laws and constitutions, and secondary sources such as academic studies. The use of comparative analysis sheets facilitated the systematization and contrast of the information. The result obtained was a comparative study on indigenous justice, revealing how historical, cultural and political factors have significantly influenced the development and implementation of indigenous justice in each country. It is concluded that both Ecuador and Bolivia have made significant progress in the constitutional recognition of indigenous justice, promoting cultural diversity and the autonomy of indigenous communities, but face similar challenges in practical implementation, including the need to strengthen coordination between justice systems to ensure respect for human rights. Consequently, it is recommended that the mechanisms for coordination and dialogue between indigenous and ordinary justice systems be strengthened. It is also suggested to promote intercultural training programs for justice operators that promote respect and inclusion of indigenous jurisdiction

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Derecho, 2023-03) Lopez Villafuerte, Joselyn Adriana; Acosta Morales, María Gabriela
Nowadays, our country has shown for some decades a context of harmonization, recognition, and acceptance of legal duality which means coping with a diverse society, in which Ordinary Justice is respected, as well as Indigenous Justice registered and embodied in the constitutional system. that for several years had limited itself to protecting only a part of the population. Therefore, this investigation is aimed to understand whether or not the interpretation made by the Constitutional Court contributes to the development of Ecuadorian legal pluralism which guarantees the jurisdictional and legislative autonomy of indigenous groups. The methodology used was exploratory, descriptive, and explanatory in order to explain the problem and the approach of a conventional perspective for the two fields of application. Finally, the research aims to show that an intercultural interpretation is really important by giving emphasis on indigenous traditions and customs. It was possible to obtain the conclusions based on the objectives established.

Ecuador is proclaimed by the Constitution of the Republic (2008), as an intercultural and plurinational State, which admits the existence of 14 indigenous nationalities that have developed their own language as a natural means of communication. In this context, the Supreme Law recognizes the right that indigenous communities, peoples and nationalities have to receive a relevant education that allows full command of their language. In this way, the Principle of Interculturality in Education proposes the decomposition of linguistic hegemony, with the introduction of at least one ancestral language in the study curricula, Kichwa being an official language of intercultural relations, whose protection reaffirms the right to a bilingual intercultural education. The importance and timeliness of this research has its origin in the Resolution issued by the ONU on December 18, 2019, with which it proclaims the period 2022-2032 as the Decade of Indigenous Languages, in the face of the world crisis that it forecasts. the loss of at least 90% of the linguistic heritage. Due to the above, the present work aims to demonstrate how the right to the teaching of the Kichwa language influences the Principle of Interculturality, for which a bibliographic-descriptive research is carried out, to detail aspects that transcend reality, to through the application of the mixed method, which adapts to the line of exclusion and social integration, allowing to verify the importance of the preservation of ancestral languages in the right to cultural identity and education.

Plurinationality and interculturality find their recognition in the current constitutions of the region, as well as in human rights, from which arises the right of indigenous peoples to maintain and preserve their ethnic and cultural identity. By virtue of this cultural diversity, indigenous peoples are recognized their own institutions, norms, procedures, and therefore their own legal systems. However, due to legal plurality, tension is generated between the ordinary legal system and indigenous law, regarding the production of law, in addition to the conflict of jurisdictions that arises in its application. On the other hand, it is necessary to point out that legal pluralism is not absolute, but rather has limits, which shows that there is tension between indigenous justice and human rights. By virtue of the indicated aspects, an ethnocentric vision of law could lead to ignorance of indigenous legal systems, eliminating their legal validity and efficacy. Therefore, the empire of western culture over aboriginal cultures would exclude any possibility that legal pluralism has a horizontal relationship with state law. In this regard, it is necessary to indicate that the supremacy of the law produced by the State could simply mean a damage to the cultural survival of indigenous peoples. Hence, an intercultural dialogue is necessary that allows the harmonization of the various legal systems that coexist in the State, so that there is no subordination between them. These aspects will be analyzed in this research work, in order to determine if in Ecuador a hegemonic conception of monism on legal pluralism is verified.
