Carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y Comunicaciones, 2024-02) Arias Gualpa, Oscar Eduardo; Gordón Gallegos, Carlos DiegoThis research project describes the development of a training system for athletes with visual impairment supported by artificial vision. Initially, a study was carried out on the current state of the difficulties that visually impaired athletes are exposed to when doing any sport, and thanks to the advancement of artificial vision in the different application areas, an electronic system based on hardware and software that allows the long jump training process to be carried out, in such a way that the athlete can be monitored and controlled, avoiding complications and injuries during training. The main objective of the electronic training system is based on the processing of images, these images depend on deep learning (Deep Learning), which reaches different levels of hierarchical details, so that the information that flows upwards is united, creating abstractions. and higher and more complex representations. For example, with digital images, pixels are combined into edges, edges into outlines, outlines into shapes, and finally shapes into objects. Obtaining as a result the recognition of the long jump track and the athletes in it. The system consists of 3 stages, the first stage of image acquisition, consisting of the sony wcx550 webcam that allows obtaining images in real time. In the second stage, processing, stable results were obtained, thanks to the use of a Raspberry Pi B3+ single-board computer, which processes the information obtained in the image acquisition stage and helps to detect people, contour detection and data management for the alert management stage. The system sends detection alerts for presence on the runway, alerts for the jump performed and stores the number of tests performed. The system will provide security and confidence, at the time of training, both to the athlete with visual impairment, and to the coach. Carrera de Tecnologías de la Información, 2024-02) Del Pezo Quinde, Ronny Alejandro; Nuñez Miranda, Carlos IsraelThis project focuses on addressing people's needs in terms of communication via mobile devices. For this purpose, data collection was carried out to identify the needs and difficulties they face in their daily communication. The main objective was to develop an application that would not only facilitate their communication skills, but also give them the opportunity to actively participate in chat conversations with other users. The application was built using Java on the Android platform, and voice commands were implemented in order to allow users to control the receiving and sending of text messages through spoken instructions. This approach not only sought to improve accessibility, but also to make the application more intuitive and easier to use for those with visual impairments. In order to carry out the development efficiently and effectively, the Mobile D methodology was adopted, ensuring an agile process that fulfilled each of its phases. The primary focus of this research is to provide a specific solution for people with visual impairments. The application was designed with the premise that users would be able to use it autonomously, without relying on additional applications or external virtual assistants.Item Dispositivo electrónico de aprendizaje alfabético traductor de voz a braille(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería en Sistemas, Electrónica e Industrial. Carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y Comunicaciones, 2022-07) Villavicencio López, Pablo David; Altamirano Meléndez, SantiagoThis research project is based on the need for autonomous learning of braille, so an electronic learning device is implemented that translates voice into braille alphabetically. This device has been created so that people with visual disabilities can study and face life in a more independent way, with the purpose that people with visual disabilities learn the braille literacy system in an autonomous way, which will allow them to communicate more effectively with the environment in the future. This device consists of a matrix of points in which the alphabet is represented in braille form, this matrix is connected to a microcontroller which in turn is connected via the Internet to a mobile application that translates voice to text and sends the signal to the microcontroller, this is responsible for interpreting the text and translating it into the form in which braille is represented, this is achieved through an algorithm which assigns each letter a sequence of points that are then represented in the relief matrix, thus the user can go learning the braille writing system autonomously. The tests were carried out at Julius Doephner Educational Unit, in students and teachers with visual impairment, concluding that the device is of high usefulness for the learning process of the teacher and the student, because by having a device of this type, you are facilitating the learning of braille. ABSTRACT At present there are in the world population million visually impaired people facing various problems in the different activities carried out in their daily lives. At the Technical University of Ambato there are few students with visual impairment, but problems within their orientation and mobility are due to lack of information within the environment in which they are, then for which this project has been developed in order to solve some of the existing problems within the library blind. In this project we have developed two modules for use by the visually impaired person, a master and a slave, which together form a BAN network and through ultrasonic sensors acquire information from nearby obstacles and immediately inform the user via alerts voice and movement. The master module is located in the front, on power plays a greeting message with instructions and is in charge of census barriers at the top and play back voice alerts. The slave module is located in the middle part of the user to survey middle and lower barriers issuing alerts motion using an outdated micro motor. Also through the wireless link and using two buttons slave module sends detailed information to the master module, so be possible voice alerts with information about obstacles in the middle and lower portion of the user and includes a user's guide audio to direct toward the blind section within the General Library of the Technical University of Ambato. So using this device the user with visual impairment get more information on your route allowing their displacement mobility more feasible and safe.
