The objective of this degree project was to evaluate the mechanical risks present in the production area of MILPLAST company using the William T. Fine method, in order to identify, assess, and prioritize hazardous conditions associated with the development of its productive activities. For this purpose, the shredding, injection, and finishing areas were initially analyzed, as well as the tasks performed by workers, considering their interaction with machinery, moving parts, blades, conveyor belts, molds, and tools. The research applied the IPER methodology for hazard identification and initial assessment of mechanical risks. Subsequently, the William T. Fine method was used, considering the factors of consequence, exposure, and probability, in order to determine the degree of hazard for each identified risk. The results showed that the activities with the highest exposure are mainly related to entrapment, cuts, impacts, particle projection, and contact with moving machine components. Based on the assessment carried out, technical, administrative, and control measures were proposed to reduce risk levels, such as the implementation of guards, safety signage, proper use of personal protective equipment, periodic inspections, and the application of safe work procedures. In conclusion, the application of the William T. Fine method made it possible to establish a technical basis for the preventive management of mechanical risks at MILPLAST, contributing to the strengthening of industrial safety and the protection of workers’ physical integrity.

The main objective of this study is to design an industrial safety plan for maintenance activities carried out on hydrocarbon tanks in the SETRIA area of the Esmeraldas State Refinery, with the aim of preventing and mitigating occupational risks to which personnel are exposed. To this end, a research process was developed that included the collection of information through interviews, surveys, and validated checklists, allowing for the collection of accurate, reliable, and representative data on the actual situation in the work environment. In addition, a comprehensive review of current regulations related to industrial safety and occupational health was carried out, ensuring that the study complies with applicable legal requirements and good practices in the sector. The GTC 45 methodology was used for risk assessment, identifying and evaluating the hazards present in each phase of maintenance. The results showed that the most critical risks were fire and explosion due to flammable vapors, exposure to toxic gases, electrical hazards, and working at height when performing tasks on top of the tanks. Several of these hazards reached intervention levels I and II, requiring immediate implementation of control measures. Based on the analysis, an industrial safety plan was designed that includes safe work protocols, operational controls, proper use of personal protective equipment, guidelines for confined spaces, lockout and tagout procedures, signage, inspections, and ongoing training. Its implementation will reduce exposure to critical risks, strengthen the culture of prevention, and significantly improve working conditions in the SETRIA area.

This study was developed to provide Millpolimeros with a technical proposal aimed at strengthening the management of mechanical risks present in its production processes. The research arose from the need to prevent workplace accidents associated with the use of machinery and equipment, as well as to improve safety conditions for operational personnel. To this end, a detailed analysis of the work environment was carried out, combining qualitative and quantitative methods that allowed for understanding both current practices and workers' perceptions of existing hazards. In the analysis of production tasks, various activities related to mechanical equipment and operations were reviewed, identifying multiple hazards that directly affect worker safety. Among the most relevant findings, it was determined that several of these activities present risk levels that require immediate intervention, especially those related to moving parts, power transmission, and materials handling. The assessment carried out using the William T. Fine method showed that certain risks exceed acceptable limits, while others are only tolerable under strict controls. Finally, the need to implement concrete actions to reduce mechanical risks and address safety deficiencies identified throughout the study is highlighted.

The present investigative work aims to provide the company Rectificadora Salcedo with the design of a Comprehensive Industrial Safety Plan for its production system, with the objective of establishing occupational risk prevention and control measures. This arises from the existing issues caused by the absence of protocols and safety measures. To address this, a qualitative and quantitative approach is applied, examining both the perception and experience of personnel to diagnose the company's current situation. Risk assessment was carried out using the General Risk Assessment Guide from INSHT. Thirteen activities were evaluated across twelve workstations within the production system, identifying sixteen risks, of which nine were deemed unacceptable. Manual load handling, analyzed using the GINSHT method, represents a non-tolerable risk, as the actual manipulated weight exceeds the recommended limit by 6.6 kg. Additionally, the analysis of safety conditions using the William T. Fine method determined that most occupational risks related to projected materials and burns were classified as low; however, the risk of falling objects was categorized as medium. Finally, the importance of implementing control strategies to mitigate biomechanical risks and identified safety conditions is emphasized. The designed proposals are presented to the company's general manager, who evaluates their feasibility and commits to their future implementation, promoting optimal conditions for a safe and healthy work environment.

Electric risks are the primary causes of adverse health effects on workers within the occupational field of the electrical sector. The current research project is conducted in the transformer laboratory owned by the Regional Electric Company Centro North S.A., located in the Tungurahua province. The main issue identified is the absence of a culture regarding the significance of electrical safety and the physiological consequences resulting from an electrical accident. The methodology to be employed includes bibliographic research and fieldwork involving visits to the laboratory facilities. To initiate the assessment of electrical risks, the use of a checklist focused on risk analysis is necessary. This checklist is based on the NFPA-70E standards and the verification questionnaire for identifying potential risk factors proposed by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. The purpose is to diagnose the current occupational safety conditions. Furthermore, in the current research, the established guidelines of ISO 31000 are applied concerning the risk assessment process, which in this study focuses on assessing the risk associated with electricity. Meanwhile, to identify hazard sources, the "what if" methodology is applied. Once the processes and respective sources are known, the IPERC methodology is applied to identify hazards and assess associated risks in transformer electrical tests. The conclusion involves the development of a prevention program, which includes safe work procedures for the transformer laboratory personnel. The devised plan proposes a comprehensive safety guide for technical operators in this work area, enabling them to carry out their routine activities reliably. This guide encompasses secure guidelines, preventive actions, and procedures to prevent electrical accidents and promote an electrical safety culture for the involved personnel.

The research project aimed to develop an industrial safety plan to prevent accidents and occupational risks inside the company “Kipa Amaranto”, located in the city of Riobamba, it was a study based on bibliographic research that allows to find documents that are relevant to the research, field research was also used to collect information within the company and qualitative research that allowed to determine the initial situation of the organization. Tools such as SIPOC diagram and flowcharts determined the processes and find the activities within the company, risk inspection formats and the checklist of tools were used which allowed to know how the company is in terms of security the same that does not have a security policy. With the information obtained, the GTC 45 was used to define the risks present in the institution, the individual position was assessed using the RULA method, the incidence of psychosocial risks was reduced by ISTAS 21. Through these methods it was found that the fruit peeling process has a total score of 6 which indicates that research and changes should be made to the job in the short term, psychosocial risks associated with mental load and responsibility were identified. For this reason, an industrial safety plan is designed, which proposes instruments that help reduce the level of ergonomic risk, such as lifting loads, a layout with signage based on executive decree 2393 Art.169 and finally, a training plan was developed for people working within the organization.

The industrial mechanics “DICO-VAL", specialized in the recovery of industrial and automotive parts, does not have documentation related to industrial safety such as plans, requirements and technical reports regarding different risk factors that allow the organization to identify, evaluate, control, eliminate and reduce accidents or damages that put the physical integrity of its workers at stake. This is also added to the total ignorance on the part of the operators of the good practices at work, making them execute their tasks in an empirical way completely ignoring the possible dangers that could materialize. For the present project several tools were used in order to find the main problem of the company, among these we have: direct observation, interview to the manager of the mechanics and a list of questions applied to the workers, with all this it is established that the main problem are the mechanical risks Through the research work, the development of industrial safety technical management was proposed as a solution to the problem, following as a guide the Ecuador Model of Industrial Safety Audits which served as the basis for the development of the entire project. It was established that the most critical risks within the production area of mechanics are mechanics with high and notable levels in the processes of welding, lathe machining and milling machine machining. At the same time, there was an absence of: signage, prevention plans, training and documented evidence regarding the surveillance of workers' health.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The present research work arises from the need to assess the risk of fire in the work areas where steel recycling and manufacturing is carried out, for which the current management of the use of fuels and its incidence on the risk of fire is investigated. An evaluation is initially carried out taking into consideration the NTP 749 of the INSHT, the total percentage of compliance of the 4 facilities is located in 82.14%, however, the overall rating is very deficient since some applicable items are qualified as very poor . Next, the fire risk assessment is carried out using the Meseri method, where the risk of Steelworks has an assessment of 4.88, while Laminates and Wire Drawing have a value of 4.99, obtaining an important Risk equivalence and therefore a need for reduce the risk immediately. Finally, the fire risk assessment is carried out through the Fire and Explosion Index (F & E) created by Dow Chemical, where it is clear that the risk of Laminates is Intermediate, of Steelworks is Serious and of Wire Drawing is Intense. The proposal to avoid the materialization of a fire and to improve the preventive actions of the company is to elaborate the prevention and action procedures in case of materialization of a fire.
