Item Diseño de un plan de conservación de la estructura de la capa de rodadura de la vía Pelileo - Cotaló abs 12+000 – 16+000 de la provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2023-09) Fiallos Cevallos, María José; Pérez Maldonado, Ruth LorenaRiobamba city has various alternative routes for access, one of which is the Pelileo - Cotaló road. This road has shown deterioration in its pavement structure, raising the need for developing an appropriate conservation plan to maintain it in optimal conditions and ensure its functionality. An exhaustive topographic survey of the Pelileo - Cotaló road was carried out, providing detailed information about its physical characteristics. Additionally, vulnerable areas of the road were identified through this survey, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent development of the conservation plan. Furthermore, a comprehensive traffic study was conducted on the road, based on the Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT). This analysis allowed for understanding the vehicular flow and vehicle characteristics, and the PCI was performed. These data were fundamental in comprehending pavement wear and deterioration, as well as identifying specific maintenance needs. As a result of this work, a specific maintenance plan was proposed to address the road's deterioration. The plan relied on the data obtained from the topographic survey and traffic study. Proposed actions included crack sealing, pothole repair, and periodic maintenance. These interventions have proven effective in improving the road's condition to ensure its durability and safety.Item Implementación del proceso de conservación de la estructura de la capa de rodadura de la vía Patate - Baños ABS 4+700 – 8+200 de la provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Almeida Domínguez, María Isabel; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoDue to the need to provide security and ease of access to users of the Patate-Baños road and in order to promote the economy of these two cantons. A georeferenced survey was carried out using a GPS satellite receiver, obtaining a digital model of the road, a twelve-hour vehicle counting station was carried out for seven days, vehicle mobility was analyzed, Future Traffic was calculated with a projection of 20 years and the road was classified as a class II collector according to (MTOP). To study the current state of the pavement, a visual test was used through the Pavement Condition Method, identifying the type of failure and degree of severity. The PCI average of 78.54 percent was obtained, indicating that the quality of the pavement is "Very Good". The deflections generated were measured using the Benkelman Beam, which allowed classifying the deflections present as Type I. On the other hand, the study of soils in the area was carried out, taking altered samples in situ for laboratory analysis, as a result the soil was classified as silty sand, resulting in an average CBR of 18.66 percent, which belongs to a "Regular - Good" quality subgrade. Considering the results, the use of a periodic type maintenance plan is proposed.Item Implementación del proceso de conservación de la estructura de la capa de rodadura de la vía Patate - Baños ABS 8+200 – 11+700 de la provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-09) Tuston Pico, Julio Armando; López Arboleda, Alex GustavoIn Tungurahua, being one of the provinces where its inhabitants are engaged to agricultural production, the good condition of the road directly affects communication, development, and well-being of families, which is why timely road maintenance will provide safety and convenience to users. The project generated a maintenance plan for the pavement of the study road where a georeferenced survey, vehicle mobility studies, soil tests and field tests were conducted to determine the state and structural behavior of the wearing course. After carrying out the pertinent tests, it was obtained as a result that the quantified traffic on the study road is classified as a type II collector road that is based on a Regular-Good subgrade according to the average 18 percent of the CBR, it is composed mainly due to poorly graded sands, in terms of the wearing course, it was determined that the study road is in good condition as it reached an average rating of 80.31 points on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) scale and when evaluated structurally with the Benkelman beam, it presented type I deflections corresponding to an adequate structural behavior. Therefore a routine and periodic road maintenance plan was proposed, according to the current damages evaluated in the wearing course, presenting solutions that allow the rehabilitation, conservation and maintenance of the road so that it meets the design useful life.
