Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-06) Pilco Yaguar, Patricia Nataly; Cevallos Cabrera, Jorge WashingtonIn the present research work, according to a qualitative and quantitative analysis, the degree of vulnerability of the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Social Sciences of block 1A-1B and block 2 of the Technical University of Ambato of the Huachi campus was obtained. For the qualitative methodology, rapid visual inspection matrices established by FEMA 154 were obtained, which shows that block 1A-1B shows that the structure is vulnerable and has a probability of collapse and block 2 shows that it has a low degree of vulnerability to a seismic activity, according to NEC-15, shows that it has a high degree of vulnerability of both blocks, this classification was obtained by the irregularities in plan and elevation, the type of soil, the year the building was built and knocking problems with adjacent structures. For the quantitative analysis, it will be delayed using the ETABS software in block 1A-1B, it does not meet the parameters established by the NEC since drifts greater than 2 percent are present, for which a reinforcement of placing San Andrés crosses was carried out in the building thus reducing the drifts, therefore, increasing the rigidity and resistance. In block 2, the parameters comply with the current standard. In addition, the analysis of the vibration acceleration of the structure was incorporated through the AISC 11 standard, which determined that the structures are under the limit of 0.50 percent, which is for educational buildings. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2022-01) Tenesaca Palate, Damaris Esther; Peñafiel Valla, Lourdes GabrielaFor the present investigation, qualitative and quantitative analyses were carried out in order to evaluate the seismic performance of the building of the Decentralized Autonomous Government of the Picaihua parish. The qualitative analysis was performed through rapid visual evaluation applying the methodologies proposed by the FEMA 154 and NEC 2015 standards, whose qualification parameters are based on the characteristics of the building, structural system, soil type, irregularity in plan and elevation, and problems of pounding with adjacent structures. The results obtained were 1.5 and 3.3, respectively, which show that the structure has low seismic vulnerability. In the quantitative method, linear analysis and nonlinear static analysis (Pushover) were performed using ETABS 2018 software. With the results obtained from these analyses, it was determined that the structure presents torsion in plan, excessive drifts higher than the maximum allowed of 2 percent, deficient response capacity before the different levels of seismic hazard, especially in the case of a very rare earthquake where the building collapses completely, thus requiring reinforcement. Once the shortcomings of the structure were identified, a global reinforcement was proposed, consisting of the implementation of shear walls to provide greater flexibility, correct torsion and excessive drifts. With the implementation of the shear walls, the linear and nonlinear static analysis was performed again, proving that the reinforcement allowed improving the performance of the structure, obtaining a vibration period of 0.489sec, drifts lower than 2 percent, from the Demand/Capacity check of the columns, values lower than the maximum allowed of 1 were obtained, there is no torsion in plan, thus complying with the checks established by the current standards and reaching a performance level of collapse prevention for a very rare earthquake. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-09) Barreno Sánchez, Ivette Thalía; Cevallos Cabrera, Jorge WashingtonThe evaluation of the degree of seismic vulnerability of the structure was carried out by using two methodologies. The qualitative one where a quick visual inspection was carried out with the use of matrices proposed by FEMA 154, the NEC 2015 standard and the National Secretariat for Risk Management, with which a high vulnerability was determined with the first two matrices, while with the third a low vulnerability for which it is highlighted that a more detailed evaluation is needed. With the information collected through the use of these matrices and in situ tests, a more complete and detailed study was elaborated; Therefore, with the quantitative methodology with a linear analysis, the vibration period and the floor drifts that comply with the provisions of the NEC were obtained, in addition a non-linear or Pushover analysis was presented where it was observed that the structure presents a performance capacity according to the specifications of the standard with a level of Life Safety. With the vibration method proposed by the AISC guide 11, it was determined that it complies with and falls within the limits established in the aforementioned standard. Finally, it was established that the structure is stable and complies with the guidelines of the standard in the event of a seismic event, so it is not necessary to reinforce the structure. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-09) Tamay Tixe, Pamela Estefanía; Suquillo Ronquillo, Betzabeth JesseniaIn this research project, a qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out to determine the vulnerability of the Design, Architecture and Arts building of the Technical University of Ambato. For the execution of the qualitative analysis, the methodology proposed by the International Standard FEMA 154, and the Ecuadorian Regulation NEC 2015 was used, a quick visual inspection was carried out, and through the matrices, the degree of seismic vulnerability of the structure was determined, where the classified the structure with a high seismic vulnerability, the most relevant parameters for the classification were: the structural system, the irregularities in plan and elevation, the type of soil and problems of knocking with adjacent structures. For the quantitative analysis, the Etabs software was used, with the collected data the linear analysis was performed to know the structural behavior, where it was shown that they do not comply with the current standard, later a non-linear static analysis was carried out with the ATC-methodologies. 40 and FEMA-440, where it was observed that the structure under study does not have sufficient capacity to reach different levels of seismic threat. A proposal for global structural reinforcement using shear walls was made to incorporate rigidity, considerably improving its behavior and complying with the checks established in the NEC 2015 standard, an analysis of environmental vibrations obtained by empirical formulas was incorporated and thus related to the degree of structure vulnerability. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-09) Campos Nuñez, William Dario; Cevallos Cabrera, Jorge WashingtonIn the present research work, a qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out to determine the seismic vulnerability of the building of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Block 1 of the Technical University of Ambato. The qualitative analysis was carried out through a quick visual inspection with the forms proposed by the FEMA 154 and NEC 15 methodologies, where it was determined that the structure has a high degree of seismic vulnerability caused by irregularity in: plant and elevation, year of construction, the type of soil and hitting problems with adjacent structures. The quantitative analysis was done using the ETABS software for which we found out the behavior of the structure with a modal spectral analysis in which it was determined that it does not comply with the NEC 15 standard because it has large floor drifts and its vibration period is not among the ranges established by standard. With these results of the two methodologies used, a proposal for the reinforcement of the building was made, which at a global level is the placement of cutting walls that provide greater rigidity and at the local level of the elements with a steel jacketing in both beams and columns, then the quantitative analysis was carried out again where it was possible to comply with the requirements established by the Ecuadorian Construction Standard. Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2019) Montalvo Quinteros, Gabriel Alejandro; Cevallos Cabrera, Jorge WashingtonIn the present research work, the degree of seismic vulnerability of the administrative building of the faculty of Administrative Sciences of the Technical University of Ambato, Campus Huachi, was determined by means of two methodologies such as Qualitative and Quantitative. For the first methodology formats raised were used by both local and international standards, the results of which were opposed because by FEMA 154 format is described the structure as highly vulnerable, and using the formats set by the NEC 2015 and the National Secretary Risk Management structure did not present any seismic vulnerability, for this analysis took into account primarily irregularities in plan and elevation, soil type, the year it was built and materials. For the second approach the point of performance of the structure was determined by a nonlinear analysis, in the same way, the four damage thresholds (MILD, MODERATE, EXTENSIVE, COMPLETE) suggested by RISK EU and HAZUS was calculated, which they served of base to carry out an analysis of fragility to the structure thus presenting a high degree of probability that the structure will enter into extensive and complete damage, which means that it presents a high seismic vulnerability.
