The project is located on the alternate road that connects the Saquisilí canton with the Patután parish belonging to the Latacunga canton, currently the road is in very bad condition, causing discomfort to vehicular traffic. Therefore, an update of the road inventory of the area has been carried out, carrying out a topographic survey and a new traffic study, resulting in a road that is classified as Class II Collector with a total length of 4.66km. definitive designs following the regulations in force in the Republic of Ecuador, and which are made up of: preliminary studies (geological, geomorphological, traffic, and subgrade), tracing of the zero line, geometric design (horizontal and vertical alignment), pavement design, design of minor art drainage structures, and earthworks analysis. Finally, the quantities of work were determined and an estimate of the approximate construction cost was made.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2021-03) Uvidia Ortiz, Romel Iván; López Velástegui, Alex Gustavo
The technical project presented below is the continuation of a study and information collection, conducted by a group of colleagues, in which he began with topographical studies, using modern equipment such as: RTK and Drone, in order to obtain the relief of the surface of the terrain to compare with the regulations and apply the methods in the determination of the layout. The project studied the volume of vehicle traffic, with the manual counting method during the seven days of the week starting on September 16-22, 2019, lasting 12 hours a day. The Annual Daily Average Traffic was obtained based on data obtained throughout this week in the traffic study, applying the thirty-hour method. Once all the data had been obtained both in the field and in the office, the methods and techniques based on the current Ecuadorian standard MTOP 2003 were applied to determine the different elements of the road based on design criteria, which were horizontal alignment, vertical and cross section of the road. The reference budget for the section under study was US$556,036.89 without I.V.A., was determined by volumes based on the different design parameters previously applied. All of these processes mentioned are tabulated to help your understanding and interpretation, as well as the design are on properly georeferenced planes.

The Project was developed in the Province of Cotopaxi on the Pangua Canton, specifically between the towns of Pinllopata and El Corazon, where the towns submerged in the need for an access road to their towns with the sole purpose of improving economic aspects, social, tourist and cultural. All the studies carried out in this project were carried out with the norm of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works MTOP-2003; where a topographic survey was carried out, using a georeferencing equipment and a Phantom 4 drone, and the data was processed by the Pix 4D software. Within the vehicular study, it was to carried out using the manual counting method, where the locality of the grant was taken as a base point, for which we proceeded by classifying the vehicles that circulate on that road, resulting in a projection of traffic for a design period of 20 years. The horizontal, vertical and transversal geometric design of the development with AutoCAD Civil 3D software, as well as determining the cut and fill volumes. The study of soils took place in the laboratories of the technical University of Ambato, taking samples from the Pinllopata – El Corazon road, using pits every 500 meters, and under the regulations of AASHTO – 93. As well as for the design of the pavement where, through the mechanical characteristics of the soil, we were able to determine the thickness of the base, sub-base and flexible pavement.
