Due to the problems that arise due to the erosion of the slope slope in the study sector, which has been causing inconveniences in the structure of the road which prevents the correct performance of the activities in the inhabitants of the sectors in question, the study of a retaining wall was carried out to give stability to the road facilitating economic progress and safety for the inhabitants. inhabitants of the sectors. The methodology implemented covered 3 stages, starting with the topographic survey of the terrain using RTK equipment, which allowed defining the characteristics of the terrain. Likewise, soil mechanics studies were carried out and fundamental geotechnical properties were obtained in the design such as specific gravity, angle of internal friction of the soil, cohesion and the admissible capacity of the soil. These parameters were essential for the calculation and structural design stage of the retaining wall. The design was based on a cantilever retaining wall, considering two main scenarios: one under the influence of vehicular overload and the other subject to seismic loads; showing that the most critical conditions were represented in the second loading scenario. To validate the design, an appropriate software was used, with which the limit states were evaluated, including slip resistance, overturning stability, eccentricity and bearing capacity of the soil, thus confirming the viability, functionality and safety of the proposed structure. In addition, an analysis of unit prices was carried out using the CAMICON items, which made it possible to determine a total cost of the project of 141042.27 US dollars. This value includes the costs of materials, labor, equipment, transportation and other elements necessary for the correct execution and supervision. As a result of this retaining wall, it can be seen that it not only seeks to offer an efficient technical solution, but also to contribute to the road development of the community and improve the safety of road users. This project, in addition to being functional, is aligned with regional development objectives, ensuring sustainability, stability and tangible long-term benefits for the inhabitants and the progress of the area.

The direct shear test provides the values of the internal friction angle and cohesion of a soil, values that are often assumed or neglected as the cohesion in the soils of our Andean region. The present research aims to evaluate the shear resistance of the soils of the Quisapincha parish through laboratory tests. Before starting laboratory activities, a reconnaissance of the areas where the sample was obtained was carried out, the sampling was carried out according to what is indicated in the corresponding regulations, pits were used to extract samples, once the desired depth was reached, He began to carve a sample block to obtain a complete sample; To characterize the soil, humidity, granulometry, and Atterberg limits tests were carried out. With the results, the soil type was classified according to SUCS and AASHTO. To obtain the shear resistance, direct cutting equipment was used, 3 specimens were carved for each sample and the test was carried out, a normal stress of 50 kPa, 100 kPa and 200 kPa was placed, the internal friction angle values and Cohesion range from 23.671 degrees to 39.26 degrees, while cohesion values range from 0.44 to 1.24 kilograms per square centimeter. The shear resistance values range from a minimum of 83.726 kPa; 124,593 kPa and 171,472 kPa respectively at the normal applied stress and up to maximum values of 159,996 kPa; 200.863 kPa and 282.595 kPa.

The purpose of this experimental research work is to analyze the types of soils existing in the Guaytacama and Toacaso parishes, starting from field and laboratory tests, up to the analysis of the results and the existing correlations between their different index and mechanical properties. , so that data such as the field CBR can be obtained, a parameter that is used for the preliminary design of pavements. This research work was carried out in a series of phases built by different processes, the first phase includes the collection and testing, where 12 samples were extracted in random places of collecting roads, to obtain these samples the PCA technique was used, followed by study and analysis both in the field and in the laboratory. Later in the second phase, the different correlations were elaborated, providing determination coefficients between 50 and 96 percent, the best equation was chosen based on the highest determination coefficient. The results obtained through the correlations serve to carry out preliminary pavement designs, this drives phase three of this work, which was the design of a flexible pavement of a road chosen based on the greatest need of the inhabitants, using one of the correlations made, finally there is phase four where the classification of the soils of the study parishes was carried out based on the AASHTO and SUCS standards, this classification was captured on a map with the help of the ArcGIS software..

The present research work consists of the development of a program coded in a graphical interface in an appropriate software, for the processing of data from soil mechanics tests: natural moisture, field density, granulometry, Attemberg limits, SUCS and AASHTO soil classification, modified Proctor, and California Bearing Ratio, having as input data the information collected from performing such tests. For the creation of the program it was necessary to review the different criteria of the tests according to AASHTO, ASTM, INEN standards, in order to standardize the calculation processes both manually and using the program. The verification and demonstration of the validity of the results was carried out by checking the manual calculation and the program, analyzing three samples taken, obtaining a null error, which verifies that all the information obtained with the program is totally reliable. As a result, a soil manual and coding algorithms were elaborated.
