Item Correlación entre el CBR y las propiedades índice y mecánicas en suelos granulares, de las parroquias Izamba y Picaihua, cantón Ambato, provincia de Tungurahua(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica, Carrera de Ingeniería Civil, 2020-08) Amaya Arcos, Johanna Vanessa; Portilla Yandún, Favio PaúlThe present experimental work has as objective to determine a correlation between the CBR test and the index and mechanical properties in granular soils, through in situ and laboratory tests, thus allowing to know the characteristics of the different soils of the Izamba and Picaihua parishes, obtaining a database with the purpose of applying the data obtained in the design of a flexible pavement. In the first instance, a three-way visual selection was made in each parish, which had an average length of approximately 3 km. A soil exploration was carried out by means of two soil pits both at the beginning and at the end of each road. In situ tests were carried out such as: field density with Cone and Sand, the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test, with the respective sampling. In the laboratory, tests of Granulometry, Specific Gravity and Atterbetg Limits were performed, which allowed characterizing and classifying the soils. The compaction tests with Modified Proctor made it possible to obtain a maximum dry density and optimum moisture content to subsequently perform the California Support Ratio (CBR) test. The data obtained were processed and analyzed statistically to determine a correlation between the index and mechanical properties with the CBR test, for later application in the design of flexible pavements.
