Un estudio de revisión(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Nutrición y Dietética, 2024-05-01) Mallitasig Endara, Fátima Vanessa; Viteri Robayo, Carmen Patricia PhDIntroduction: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory disease of the colon of multifactorial origin that affects the microbiota, its treatment seeks to improve its dysbiosis by means of probiotics, microorganisms with life, capable of providing multiple benefits to the organism. Objective: To analyze the benefits of probiotics in the treatment of ulcerative colitis by means of a literature review. Method: A systematic review was carried out in Spanish and English using scientific databases such as Scielo, Pubmed, Dialnet, Google Scholar, Elsevier. In a total of 251 reviews, considering as exclusion criteria those documents older than 3 years or not included in scientific databases. Results: Despite not being harmful to health, some authors highlight that the use of probiotics does not guarantee a cure of the disease or the elimination of its symptoms, but rather that it could be useful in periods of remission and its maintenance, provided it is used in the right amount and specific strain. Conclusions: Probiotics have proven to be useful in inducing the remission phase of active ulcerative colitis, with a specific amount and type of strains, however, studies are still needed to determine the duration of their effect on the organism.Item Plantas medicinales en el tratamiento de enfermedades culturales según la cosmovisión de sanadores y pobladores(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Enfermería, 2022-10-11) Andrango Quisaguano, Nataly Paola; Fernández Nieto, Miriam IvonneThe use of medicinal plants for the treatment of cultural diseases is considered a significant axis within the health system to contribute to universal access and coverage in health. Objective: To determine the medicinal plants most used in the treatment of cultural diseases according to the worldview of residents and healers regarding the health disease process. Mg.The present investigation was carried out on patients from the General Hospital of Latacunga (HPGL), whose main objective is to determine the immediate effects of interval aerobic exercises on the health status of patients with COPD. The COPD is a disorder characterized by having a chronic limitation in airflow with persistent symptoms such as dyspnea, cough ad spectoration. The study corresponds to a quali- quantitative approach because the data and measurements that were obtained were through numerical values and words, of a cross-sectional type, because the data are collected once and of a quasi-experimental level since it was carried out a single group. The population consisted of 30 people, who, through the inclusion and exclusion criteria, remained 8 participants who were applied the IAS (interval aerobic exercise) and the acute cardiovascular effects were analyzed by spirometry and telemetry. The investigation was completed by demonstrating that with IAS there is less flow limitation, an increase in lung capacity and an increase in the caliber of the airways that translates into less obstruction without the presence of bronchospasm during the intervention.
