This research project analyzed inventory management at VARMA S.A., a company dedicated to manufacturing vehicle bodies, with the aim of optimizing the management of materials used in the production of the Urbano City Bus model. To achieve this objective, a mixed methodological approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods was adopted. As a first step in the research, the current process of procurement and management of supplies was analyzed, identifying limitations related to the lack of formal policies, absence of defined replenishment levels, and inconsistent records. Subsequently, the factors that influence inventory management were evaluated, such as production capacity, labor, machinery, and storage space. To evaluate critical materials, an ABC analysis was applied, from which ten representative materials were selected. Based on these materials, a mathematical model based on the (Q, r) policy was implemented and integrated into Python, which allowed for the accurate calculation of the economic order quantity, safety stock, reorder point, and average investment. The multi-item EOQ model optimizes costs, takes advantage of available warehouse space, and therefore reduces the total cost of inventory. The total cost of inventory obtained by the model was USD 1,231.84, while the volume occupied (20.27 m³) was within the available capacity and average investment. In conclusion, the proposed model is an effective tool for improving inventory planning and strengthening operational continuity.
