According to Maslow's Theory of Motivation there are five basic needs: physiological, safety and protection, love and belonging, self-esteem and selfactualization. The aim of this study was to evaluate nursing interventions based on Maslow's theory of needs. An evaluation instrument with 14 questions and 5 response options on a nominal scale was developed. Seven questions on physiological needs, four on security and three on self-actualization. The survey was applied to 42 health professionals, 25 Nursing graduates, 12 Rotating Nursing Interns and 5 Nursing Auxiliaries in the Internal Medicine Area at Hospital General Docente Ambato of Ministerio de Salud Publica del Ecuador. The average age of the participants was 29.43 years old, in a range of 22 to 44 years, 23.80% men and 76.19% women. The most relevant results indicate that nursing interventions related to physiological needs are mostly applied "Very Often", preponderating breathing and feeding. Nursing interventions related to protection needs are mostly applied "Very Often" both in physical and emotional protection. Nursing interventions related to self-realization needs are mostly applied "Very Often" for recreation and respect; and “Sometimes” in helping to make decisions. The nursing professional at the physiological level ensures the survival of the individual and at the security and protection level seeks the physical and emotional safety of the patient. The following levels within the pyramid of needs continue to be important to the patient as an individual, but could have less importance in the patient-nurse relationship.Item Experiencia familiar en el cuidado de un paciente con carcinoma gástrico(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Enfermería, 2022-10-12) Caiza Chango, Pamela Mireya; Quenorán Almeida, Verónica SofiaThe family experience in the care of a patient with gastric carcinoma is of great importance because it explores the experience of caregivers, which makes it possible to understand the integrality of the process of this disease, from a different perspective than that known by the staff. of health. Mg.Family plays a very important role in patient recovery. Despite this, it is rarely considered as an important recovery component in nursing practices. As such, we decided to carry out the current research with the objective of determining the perception of relatives regarding patient care provided by nursing staff at the Intensive Care Unit of Ambato General Hospital. The research project uses a quantitative methodology, non-experimental field research design, with a cross-sectional type of descriptive research, the study population was made up of family members identified in the period established by the project with a total of 32 participants included by close relatives such as: parents, mothers, spouses, children; through the application of a structured interview, which was carried out in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ambato General Hospital. Finally, it was concluded that the relatives of the patients consider a very good nursing care, in the three dimensions studied, the quality of attention, emotional support and finally the level of communication between the nursing staff and the relatives, however there are aspects to improve, such as: the nursing staff must first identify their relatives so that they know and establish good communication with the staff in charge of their patient during the hospital stay.Item “El síndrome de Cushing y su influencia en la calidad de vida”(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Enfermería, 2018-10-01) Rugel Moposita, Jessica Estefanía; Guallichico Maura, Martha Lucia, Mg.Lcda.Cushing's syndrome is a relatively rare pathology, whose true incidence is unknown worldwide. This pathology is caused when the body is exposed to very high levels of cortisol for a prolonged period. Therefore, the clinical case of a 44-year-old female patient with clear manifestations of Cushing's syndrome is presented and the study is carried out to determine the critical points that led the patient to develop this syndrome. The development of the clinical case involved a bibliographic-documentary, analytical and descriptive methodology to analyze the case through the review of the clinical history and an interview with the patient to obtain available and unavailable information with which it could be concluded that the Risk factors for the development of Cushing's Syndrome were age, sex and corticosteroid intake due to secondary pathology. The design of a nursing care guide aimed at the patient was proposed, considering that it is necessary to guide this type of people on the appropriate way to cope with the pathology, since the clinical picture can be controlled and adequately treated with compliance with medical treatment and necessary care in the home and thus avoid an increase in morbidity and mortality in this human group.
