Carrera de Agronomía, 2026-01) Aldás Ávila, Giuliana Camila; Pérez S, Marco OswaldoThe research analyzed the effect of different combinations of organic substrates in asemi-hydroponic system on the productivity and growth of strawberry plants (Fragaria ananassa), studying three varieties: Alturas, Brina, and Petra, in Huachi Grande, Ambato canton. The study employed a split-plot design, structured in randomized complete blocks. Two substrate mixtures were used in this trial: S1 consisted of 20% coconut fiber, 50% rice hulls, 20% pine sawdust, and 10% biofertilizer; S2 consisted of 25% coconut fiber, 40% rice hulls, 25% pine sawdust, and 10% biofertilizer. A total of nine treatments were conducted, including controls for each variety. The variables nvestigated to obtain agronomic responses included plant height; The following measurements were taken number of leaves, number of flowers, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, equatorial and polar diameter of the fruit, and soluble solids content. To analyze and interpret the results, ANOVA and Tukey's test were used at a 5% significance level. The results showed that variety 3 had the highest productivity, while variety 2 stood out for its fruit quality. Substrate was the most beneficial, resulting in better production in the semi-hydroponic system, demonstrating the importance of selecting the right seedling and substrate type to maximize crop efficiency.
