(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2024-08) López Cunalata, Shirley Monserrath; Brito Alvarado, Leonardo Xavier
This research work seeks to analyze the aesthetics of the new flesh in the films of Canadian director David Cronenberg. Undoubtedly, cinema represents a form of entertainment, but pedagogical to understand existing social issues. Of the broad cinematic genres, fiction and in particular the subgenre of punk cinema, have created spaces to articulate both utopian and dystopian situations in which humanity is confronted. Such is the case of the interference of technologies not only in everyday life, but also in the anatomical and biological body of the human being. The Canadian director's films present these scenarios of dispute between the technological and the biological, an epistemological line to understand the new humanity. Cronemberg exalts a new flesh where blood merges with oil, flesh with metal. Therefore, this research crosses cinematographic, philosophical and social views on this new confusing universe, but which is undoubtedly a path that humanity is following. For this purpose, it assumes as a biological mirror the film Videodrome (1983), which deepens these events. The main objective is to map the feature film and how it represents the new flesh. It projects the idea that the new flesh is the transformation of the body and mind, that is, the change that is made from within and the hybridization of the body with technology. In order to fulfill this objective, two approaches are presented. First, a search and bibliographic review of master's and doctoral theses with themes similar to the one proposed is carried out, which provide the researcher with specific information to create a concrete basis for what is to be written. Secondly, using the hermeneutic method, two matrices are proposed for the analysis of the filmography: the first one describes the characteristics of the characters, accompanied by an analysis of what they represent. The next one details the most relevant scenes that represent the thematic approached

(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicaciòn, 2024-02) Escobar Galarza, Doménica Carolina; Brito Alvarado, Leonardo Xavier
Within the cultural industries, music, cinema or the consumption of pornographic magazines have been debated, but one of the least debated aspects in Ecuador has been the consumption of sexuality due to biases full of taboos. Since the publication of the novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” in 2011, which was a publishing success, sex once again had an important place in social debates, therefore, it is a controversial topic that politicizes old scenarios and create new ones. The methodology approach that will be used in this research with a perspective of politicization of sex will be classified into two parts: the first will be the analysis of the feminist and sexual discourse of the film “Fifty Shades of Grey” to complement information and findings from it. , the content analysis through a matrix where the stereotypical social constructions and gender models referring to sexual relations that appear in the film will be detailed with the aim of discussing erotic cinema and the experience of the producers in the form of semantic functional models. The second part will be a comparative matrix with various points of view of the authors with which this research will be worked, on the erotic cinema that problematizes the sexual in the cultural industries to contrast the statements and hypotheses that politicize sex. Without a doubt, sexuality and sex are two topics that are latent in the debates of the Social Sciences and Communication, this is understood by the sharp views and conservative charges within the academy, these are the main ideas by which. The aim is to develop this research, to open the communication debate on sexuality within cultural industries that function as mechanisms of seduction in the buying and selling of objects. This allows us to weave other perspectives that can be used by new students to focus and follow a same line of research on these controversial and highly complex topics

This research is based on previous science fiction studies such as: Darko Suvin, Carlos Scolari, Enrico Quarantelli, Brian Aldiss and others from sociology such as: Ulrich Beck, Noemí Monroi among others. At first, following Beck's current, it is considered that the catastrophe is subject to modern society making it impossible to free oneself from it, locating a correct way to face it. Adapt to survive. On the other hand, according to Quarantelli we accept that fear or lack of dialogue in what is known as catastrophe, makes scientific development implausible, the global situation before possible apocalyptic scenarios are nothing more than a reflection of the cinema. Likewise, according to the thought of Darko Suvin, who orients the science fiction genre as a door to the fear of the human being, a space destined to the entertainment of calamity. It is necessary to adopt science fiction thinking, it is the only way to solve the world's problems. The proposed focus of the study is subject to cinematic narratives about the end of the world, and will not allude to typical third type encounters, viruses, machine rebellion or nuclear holocausts. The focus of this research will be on threats from outer space, specifically the destruction of the planet by asteroids, through an analysis of the films Armageddon and Deep Impact, movies released in 1998, which handle a fictional and scientific plot at the same time. Curiosity has led human beings to expand their thinking, providing solutions to the various problems that have arisen.

The research focuses on developing conceptual strategies to address the study's topic, such as characters and scenes. The aim is to determine how LGBT+ themes and other relevant elements are approached and how they relate to the dominant social discourses of their respective eras. As a result, this research concludes that the two films depict different stereotypes and prejudices. The homosexual community transitions from being portrayed with prejudices and a struggle for their rights to being exemplified with real and fitting issues, such as acceptance and internal and external discrimination within the homosexual world.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato,Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicación Social, 2022-04) Chávez Lemache, David Sebastián; Martínez Bonilla, Carlos Alberto
The Covid-19 pandemic has radically affected society's daily life, and the global health crisis has brought to the forefront situations that were thought to be distant and improbable. However, this type of events have been repeatedly treated in narratives, mainly in fiction films. For this reason, many people used movies with themes related to the virus and pandemic to understand what was going on around them and even to seek answers to those questions that science could not answer clearly. The objective of the research is to analyze science fiction cinema as an ideological pedagogical narrative in the face of health crises, for which the aim is to carry out an analysis of the filmic discourse from the perspective of communication, social sciences and cinema, linked to a qualitative approach where through the reflection of the film "Contagion" (2011) by Steven Soderberg, linked in an analogical way to the analysis of news in the context of the covid-19 pandemic in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil and Ecuador, allows understanding how these discourses can influence society. It is concluded that fictional cinema, rather than rehearsing a spectacle of catastrophe and destruction scenarios and leaving open the arrival of the end of humanity, can help social criticism, understand with its narratives responses and decisions of the collective imaginary, reactions to similar scenarios and learn to understand the behavior of people in different social contexts.

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato,Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicación Social, 2022-03) Jiménez Garcés, Ruth Carolina; Brito Alvarado, Xavier Leonardo
This research deals with the topic: “LOOKING YOU IN THE EYES, MY LOVE, THE MELODRAMATIC SPEECH IN THE MOVIE “THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES””, for which a bibliographic review was approached from communication, consolidating some fundamental concepts about melodrama, cinema, cinematographic melodramatic story, identities and modernity. The methodology used was taken from melodramatic analysis matrices: registration, relationship and discourse of melodrama, to understand and explain the possible relationships and correspondences between the melodramatic contexts and the individuals represented in the Oscar-winning Argentine film. “The secret in their eyes” (2009). The thesis is divided into: Chapter I, presents the theoretical framework, aimed at strengthening and theoretical intersection on the proposed topic; Chapter II, which describes that the methodology used is qualitative and how it has been developed; Chapter III, which exposes the analysis and discussion of the results obtained with the application of methodology and the verification of the hypothesis or research question; and, Chapter IV, which shows the conclusions of this research work. The history of Latin America can be counted through from the melodrama, because its experiences have been recorded in literature, radio, cinema and television, being able to understand more widely the formation of the social and historical aspects and the cultural identity of the entire region and how love has been used to build stories as a strategy to touch sentimentality generating cultural disputes. In this way, it can be verified how the melodrama has conditioned the behavior of the population, which is expressed in movies, novels, music, poetry, politics, among others, educating sentimentally on how is the correct way in which one must feel and act in relationships of love, envy, betrayal and excess, building imaginaries of symbolic subjectivities.
