Experiencias del personal de enfermería en el manejo del catéter central de inserción periférica neonatal

Abstract

The study determined the experiences of the nursing staff in the management of the neonatal peripherally inserted central catheter. The research was of a qualitative narrative type that respects the hermetic phenomenological approach in which 10 selected nursing professionals participated through inclusion and exclusion criteria to subsequently analyze the information through the Damaziere and Dubart methodology, it should be noted that at all times the resea rch respect the bioethical criteria framed in the Declaration of Helsinki. The results obtained were divided into 5 categories that denote the experiences lived by the participants where it was possible to identify various aspects such as the knowledge they possess, their preferences and the actions taken to mitigate complications, experiences such as the great responsibility that they are in charge of, the trajectory that it has in neonatology rooms or the perception of pain, which although the newborn patient does not verbalize it, does not mean that it is absent, so the nurse must mitigate the fatigue to which their patient is exposed by exposing such forms the dyad that is formed between the professional and the patient. In addition, the information is triangulated, comparing personal criteria with various scientific studies. It is concluded that the nursing professional is technically and academically trained to perform the procedure of inserting a peripheral central catheter, and although in some studie s this is spoken of as an easy procedure, it is not at all since there are risks that threaten newborn health.
