Abstract
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo principal analizar la correlación entre el proceso
de orientación vocacional y la seguridad en la elección de carrera en estudiantes de
segundo y tercer semestre de la carrera de Psicopedagogía de la Universidad Técnica de
Ambato. Esta investigación abordó la necesidad institucional de comprender cómo el
acompañamiento vocacional influye en la toma de decisiones académicas de los
estudiantes en las etapas iniciales de su formación. Se implementó una metodología
cuantitativa, con un diseño no experimental, transversal y correlacional. La
recolección de datos se llevó a cabo mediante la aplicación de encuestas estructuradas
para evaluar variables clave como la calidad del apoyo recibido y el nivel de seguridad en
la elección. El análisis estadístico, realizado con SPSS, utilizó la prueba de correlación
de Pearson. Los resultados fueron concluyentes, evidenciando una relación
estadísticamente significativa entre la orientación vocacional y la elección de carrera.
Este hallazgo demuestra que la provisión de un proceso de orientación adecuado y
profesional está directamente ligada a una mayor confianza y satisfacción de los
estudiantes con su decisión profesional. Se observó que el acompañamiento estructurado
favorece significativamente una mayor claridad en intereses, expectativas y metas
académicas. Como conclusión principal, se determina que el fortalecimiento y la
optimización de los programas de orientación vocacional son esenciales para promover
la toma de decisiones profesionales conscientes y acertadas dentro de la institución.
Description
The main objective of the present study was to analyze the correlation between the
vocational guidance process and the certainty in career choice among second and third
semester students of the Psychopedagogy program at the Technical University of Ambato
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato). This research addressed the institutional need to
understand how vocational support influences students' academic decision-making
during the initial stages of their training. A quantitative methodology was implemented,
using a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. Data collection was
carried out by applying structured surveys to evaluate key variables such as the quality
of the support received and the level of certainty in their choice. The statistical analysis,
performed with SPSS, utilized the Pearson correlation test. The results were conclusive,
showing a statistically significant relationship between vocational guidance and career
choice. This finding demonstrates that providing an adequate and professional guidance
process is directly linked to greater confidence and satisfaction among students
regarding their professional decision. It was observed that structured support significantly
fosters greater clarity in terms of interests, expectations, and academic goals. The main
conclusion determines that the strengthening and optimization of vocational guidance
programs are essential to promote conscious and successful professional decision-making
within the institution.
